Something weird is up at Valedale Lake. Go speak with Mr Andersson about it.
What Has Happened to the Valedale Lake?
Rita! Can you see what has happened to my beautiful lake? It has started to be overgrown and contaminated. And it smells bad. Is someone dumping waste in it? Can you please inspect the lake a little closer. You can go farther out in the water with your horse, than I can do with my short legs.
Objectives: Inspect the lake to see if anyone may have dumped waste there.
Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP
Inspect the four locations indicated on your map. Return to Mr Andersson when you are done.
Did you not find anything? Nothing at all? Not even fish?

Where is the Fish?
Oh no, this is not good at all! And you say you didn’t see a single fish? It looks like poaching. Don’t they know that the fish are important for the lake’s wellbeing?
Objectives: Talk to Mr Andersson.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Mr Andersson knows more about this issue.
The fish keep the water fresh and clean in the Valedale Lake and without them it will be overgrown and contaminated. And the fish that swim here are protected, by the way.

New Fish
We have two problems here; the first is that apparently some nasty characters don’t hesitate to destroy our lovely nature! But the second and most acute is that we need new fish for the lake and that in a hurry. Do you want to help me?

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP
Well, if my middle name isn’t “Yes-i’ll-help-you”
So good that there is people like you, Rita. I wish that more humans cared about nature as we do. Now let’s see, I think I have an old fishing rod somewhere.

Such nice fat worms! The fish will love them.

Elizabeth has noticed something weird as well. Let’s go see her in Valedale.
Waterfall’s New Color
Heya Rita. Thank you for coming. You might have seen that there is something mysterious about the waterfall. I have no idea what has happened but it can’t be good. Avalon, our most knowledgeable druid, has begun to investigate what has happened. Can you ride over and ask him if he needs any help? He lives in the village by the waterfall. Ride over the bridge and you will find him.
Objectives: Ride over and speak with Avalon, he lives right beside the waterfall.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Over the river and through the woods to Avalon’s house we go!
Hmmm… How can I be of assistance? The green waterfall? You must be Rita! Elizabeth said that she would send over someone who might be able to help me with this interesting problem. Thank you for coming to help.

______________
Green Isn’t Good
Rita? That is your name right? Perfect. The green waterfall! I understand someone or something has poisoned the water with a very powerful energy. Hmmm… How should I explain this…
Objectives: Listen to what Avalon has to say.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Avalon will tell you more about what he thinks is happening.
It’s no common contaminant that made the water green, you understand, but a dangerous magical material that has spread into the bedrock and into the groundwater. Whoever would dare to be so careless with nature I don’t know but I have my suspicions.
I need to look into this more. Unfortunately I just don’t have the strength anymore to move around like I used to… so it is good you came to help. You get to be my legs in this investigation. Now we’ll get started! There are three things I need your help with right now.

Earlier Incidents
Ask Elizabeth what she knows. Has anything like this ever happened in Jorvik before? If this has happened before we might be a lot closer to figuring out a solution to the problem.
Objectives: Ask Elizabeth if the water has ever turned green before.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Go back to Elizabeth’s house in Valedale and ask her if this has happened before.
If the waterfall has been green before? Not as far as I know. But now that you mention it I have heard about a similar situation.

Always This Dark Core
It was a very long time ago Rita. Dark Core came to the island and drilled into the mountain at a few different places in Jorvik. I hear people talking about the water changing color around where they were doing the drilling… and about other mysterious things happening too. I never saw anything myself but I’m sure that there is some truth to the rumors at the time… That company always seems to have mysterious and evil intentions. Tell Avalon about this, maybe it will help him.
Objectives: Tell Avalon about what Elizabeth has told you.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Report back to Avalon with the news from Elizabeth.
Aha. Dark Core. As I suspected. It seems likely that they are behind the green water this time again.

A Sample from the Waterfall
Hmm. We need to examine the waterfall closer. Take this test tube and fill it with water from the waterfall. When you bring me the sample I can examine it more closely. The water from the waterfall might be dangerous so don’t spend too much time in the field by the waterfall. Be careful!
Objectives: Fill the test tube with water from the waterfall.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Follow the path up behind Avalon’s house to get to the waterfall. Once you have filled the test tube, return to him.
Good good. It will be interesting to analyze the sample you took.

______________
Green Water Anywhere Else?
We need to see if the green water has spread or if it is only around the waterfall. I’m wondering specifically about Valedale Lake. Ride over there and take another sample from the water where it comes into the lake from the waterfall. Here is another test tube for you to use. I’ll cross my fingers and hope it hasn’t spread to there… but I fear for the worst.
Objectives: Ride up to Valedale Lake and fill the test tube with water from the waterfall there.
Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP
Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen
Once up at Valedale Lake, go through the finish line of the race, and follow the trail across the first bridge, then go down off the road to the right. You can get up to a platform of rock under the waterfall.
When you have filled the test tube return to Avalon.
Mhmm. So the water there is green too. I understand. I’ll analyze the test sample you took there too. What? There was a roadblock there? A guard in a green coat too? That sounds like Dark Core alright, Rita.

What you didn’t mention about that druid Avalon is that he doesn’t stand still!! XD He sort of “rolls” along as if he’s on wheels under his robes backwards and forwards in his yard. I had trouble finding him the first time, that was why. Almost like a sort of robed Dalek actually!! 🙂 Rather like when Jenna wanders around at Moorland Stables like I have to “catch” her it’s like that with Avalon. Although he “trundles” a lot slower having said that.
