Wishspers: Chapter 10 – Secrets Uncovered

Hey Guys! Not much of an intro today, but I’m framing a new story, so leave what you would like to read and I’ll try and incorporate it into my new story! Have fun, play Star Stable and enjoy Chapter 10! 🙂

______________

“Faster, Brave!” I scream as Elizabeth clings to the saddle. We rush over the mountain range and down past Andy’s, leaving his chickens running in circles. I feel Brave’s strong body moving beneath me and finally regain control over myself. We continue down over the bridge near Applegrove and gallop down the beach, steering clear of Doyle’s as to Elizabeth’s instructions. As we ride into Fort Pinta, I see everyone crowding around a house, with men carrying a body through the door. The doctor looks shocked as I slow Brave to a halt and hop down to help Elizabeth dismount. She runs over and they engage in quiet murmurs, as I turn to the door. I suddenly realise who the body is they’re carrying. Mary. I push through the small crowd and rush through the door, freezing when I see her. She’s lying on the wooden table, in the middle of the kitchen, her face finally calm and ridded of the horrified expression in the chapel. Her arms appear bruised and lay by her sides, and her clothes look like they have been nipped by a thorn bush or something. I rush to her side and sit on a chair, placing my hands of her right.

“I’m so sorry.” I whisper as she moans slightly. I rush to the sink to grab her a glass of water and sit back down immediately when I see one of her eyes slightly open.

“Anna….” I shush her abruptly and she nods slightly, closing her eyes again. Soon, her breathing is steady and I back slowly out of the room, leaving the house to talk to Elizabeth. As soon as I’m outside, havoc greets me. I see people rushing to the bridge and Elizabeth seemingly limps over. She looks bruised and tired, but has a slight glow about her. The doctor seats her where I was earlier and kneels beside her, talking again. I speed up my pace towards them and then sit, looking inquisitively at them.

“I need to know what’s going on!” I demand quietly, slightly scared of the outcome.

“No you don…”

“Leave her be, Alice, she’s mature enough to know,” Elizabeth pleads, looking at the Doctor, “I’ll explain, now go and tend to Mary.” The doctor rushes off again, clearly worried about the stability of all of us now.

“Anna, what I’m about to explain is extremely serious. You must understand that for the safety of your friends and family, you must talk to no normal civilians about what happened to you today. Your granddad is aware but you must not discuss it. You never know who may be listening…” She sighs and breaks off, staring at the sea.

“But what…”

“I’m getting there,” she snaps back to reality, cold clouding her eyes. “What you heard in the chapel, what Mary was plagued by, it was the Wishspers. The wishes of those whose lives were taken. They have always been around, they’re everywhere, but are secure in a second world, the afterlife, where they are alive but the spirits pursue what they wanted before they left our world. They aren’t really harmful, but the crack is. The worlds are split for a reason, and it shouldn’t be that easy to just unlock and return, it’s dangerous for either side, and must be stopped.” She gasps for breath, shaking slightly. “I need your help. You can help unlock this, help me, help Jorvik. They must be stopped, before more harm comes of this.” I nod and she smiles slightly, reassuring me.

“Everything’s going to be alright.”

Wishspers: Chapter 9: Good and Bad, Light and Darkness

Hey guys! Hope you enjoy this installment, I’m still really enjoying writing it, hope you still are! Write next week! 😀

Admin edit: It’s my fault there has been such a long time since the last chapter. Be sure to catch up on the beginning of the story here: CLICK!

______________

I sat up as the doctor ran over to Rambo and Ron, discussing what everyone should do. It was like I wasn’t there, looking in on the world through a one way mirror. I felt a warm palm on my cold hand, shaking it, and turned to see a small girl staring at me, clearly worried and a bit startled.

“We heard shouting and crying and came from the Stables. Are you ok?” She had curly, auburn hair, falling well below her shoulders, and a freckled face, glowing, with bright ocean blue eyes. She smiled, reassuring me, and I nodded, suddenly conscious of how I looked.

“Yeah, sorry, I’m fine. Well not great but, oh don’t worry. I’m Anna,” I managed to stifle a smile, and she turned behind, and said something I didn’t quit catch. Two more girls appeared, both giggling, and smiled at me.

“I’m Alice, and this is Emma and Lily, and over there is Annie,” she pointed at a dog “We’re here for Jorvik Summer Camp! Well, Pony Camp, I wouldn’t call November Summer personally, although the weather is good!” She stretched out her arms to show this and smiled again, squinting at the sun. I looked at Emma. She had straight brown hair that was cut into short layers that looked a bit dangerous, but really cool, and had thick black eyeliner flying off her lash line. She was pretty and distinctive, and had a super cool indie fashion sense, a little like me. She was looking at me too, and that’s when I noticed the nose stud. It was a plain small-cut diamond, and it twinkled in the sunlight, prettily, adding even more indie edge to her style. She pointed at it and said:

“Got it pierced in July and I still can’t change the stud yet! I’m waiting till Christmas Day!!” She shot me a perfect teeth grin, and then nudged Lily. “Why is the doctor running over here?” I spun around quickly, my gaze zapping all over the square.

“Anna, are you better? We don’t have anyone to get Elizabeth, and Brave really is fast and he has also calmed down now, and then you can explain everything…” She plonked down next to me, worried and exhausted, and I nodded, saving her breath. “Thanks.”

“We could come, too!”  Lily said, the last girl in the group. She had lined her waterline this time, and had waist length blonde hair, that was dip-dyed light brown at the bottom. She had it tied in a French braid, that curled around her neck and followed the line of her arm. There was also a blue and red flower braid intertwined in this whole braid. They all wore the general stable work clothes, and me and Alice stood up as she said this. “Our horses are all fast, and we’d like to see the island!”

“It’s not some guided tour, this is serious…” The doctor started, frowning, but I silenced her.

“No, I’d like them to come, it’d be nice since I don’t feel one hundred percent, still a little shaky. We need to go now though!” I nodded as they ran into the stable yard, jumping up onto their horses and grabbing their hats on the way over. I could tell they were experienced riders. I flew onto Brave’s back and led the way, and off we went to Valedale!

Wishspers: Chapter 8 – Little Voices

Hello Everyone! Longer today, and a little distressing? I don’t know if you’ll agree with that, but I do hope you enjoy, and stay reading! 🙂

Caution!

Contains depictions of character death.

______________

“Mary! Mary? Hey, where are you? I need your help!!” I called, searching around Doyle’s Abbey, laughing. I was sure she’d be around, she never left her flock, even if the boyfriend was involved.

“Mary?” My gaze wandered up the chapel path to the open archway. Hardly anyone was spotted anyway near the inside of the chapel wreck. There were all these ghost stories of the graves opening up and their masters chasing people away. However,  I noticed now, some fresh blood-red vintage roses were lying idyllically on their side on a pretty fresh grave too . I entered through the broken walls and knelt at the side of the grave. It read:

Lily Jean Wilson

2005-2013

Taken so Young, Her Spirit Living Within Our Hearts Forever More

She would only have been 8. It was sad. I rubbed my hand gently on the petal of the rose, and then stroked the headstone, resuming a standing position. I suddenly felt sad about how the parents must’ve felt. I turned away, fearful of suddenly crying. I don’t cry? Never have, not since… well I explained, but I suddenly felt a wash of real upsetting sadness glide over me. I shook it off, and then the glowing caught my eye.  It was ominous, of a kind of powdery blue, and it shone out of the open windows of the real chapel. I walked towards, a fly to a light, but suddenly I heard sobbing. I stopped in my tracks. I knew that tone, lovely and calm, kind and forgiving. It was Mary. I jogged into the chapel, but jumped as her ice cold hand gripped onto my palm.

“Anna!! Anna! You must go, now, it’s not safe, they’ll haunt you, they’ll hurt you…” Tears ran down her face, racing down to her neck as she hung her head, her shoulders lifting heavily. I leant her backwards towards the wall, as she stayed crouched. But she began to fight me off, pushing me with her hands.

“Stop, Mary, we need to get you out, stop it!” I mumbled quietly. People didn’t cry around me a lot. People near my age, I mean, because I guess they didn’t know me? Or didn’t trust me. I don’t know which, but they didn’t, and I surprised myself at the softness in my voice.

“Leave, please, before they plague you too!” She cried, her fists unclenching under my palms as she raised her hands to her ears. I got up, not knowing what to do. Then I heard it. Millions of ‘it’, whispers of the forgotten, ringing out, like stolen prayers. I gasped and stumbled out, running back to Braveheart. But they seemed to run with me, and only left as we galloped away, down towards Fort Pinta. I was suddenly aware of the tears running down my face, and wiped at my face abruptly. We clattered over the bridge, and I started shouting, scared for something, Mary’s well-being, the safety of Jorvik? I jumped off Brave as he reared, startled by my shouting. The doctor ran out, clearly on errands, and gasped, throwing an arm around my shoulder and ushering me to a wooden crate as a seat.

“What on earth is the matter, Anna? I’ve never seen you this distraught, not in the whole time you’ve been here!” She rocked me sideways a little, calming me, mothering me. I loved it, slowing my breathing down to be able to speak.

“It’s Mary. I went to find her to… it doesn’t matter, but she’s in Doyle’s Abbey and she’s crying and the voices…!” I was spluttering again, crying in shock. The tears ran freely as I spoke, a river running down my face. I turned to the Doctor, who had gone extremely pale.

“Doyle’s Abbey?” Her voice became tense as she shouted across the market square at Ron. “Call Elizabeth! Now! And send someone to bring her here.”

Wishspers: Chapter 7 – Excitement!

Hello Everyone!! I’m so sorry I haven’t written in actual years (a slight exaggeration), but I thought I was going to stop writing, but things have calmed down, and now I can again! Yays all around!! So, a short chapter to almost welcome you back to me being back, here is Chapter 7!! Thanks 🙂

______________

I awoke early the next morning, and traveled around the cottage silently, giving Granddad a wakeup call as I left, reminding him his maple syrup pancakes I’d made would soon go cold. I ran around the side of the house, zipping up my coat as the wind bit at my fingers, and hauled the door closed as I walked towards Brave. He was swaying slightly, his eyelids closed softly, standing calmly upright. I saw the black of his eyes light up and show as I unlatched the stable door. He approached me and nuzzled into my chest, sniffing at my pocket for the carrot concealed inside.

“Honestly, Brave, you’d think food was the only thing you knew in life!” I giggled as my fingers slid through his hair, my ear to his jaw, listening to him crunch. My watch bounced light off of it – 7:35am.

“Today’s it Brave. New Friends! “I exclaimed, letting the door swing to a close ahead of him as I gathered his tack. He stood well as I tightened his girth and adjusted his bridle, and soon we were cantering away through the village, the houses sound as the hoof steps echoed throughout. I grinned at the thought of new friends, girls, sleepovers, parties, crushes etc. I hadn’t had great friends in Manderville, so now was my chance. I leapt off Brave as we entered the stable walls at Moorland, and ran straight over to Jenna.

“You’re full of beans today Anna! Here to help for the day? We could really use…”

“Sorry, I can’t today, have you seen three new girls around here though?”

“Nope, see there aren’t any new residents; no one is buying any houses at the minute…”

“Oh.” I deflated like a balloon, instantly. I sighed and began to walk away.

“Oh! Unless you mean the summer camp girls? Erm, what’re their names, Ella, Alice and Lily or something? Why do you know them? We’re still expecting one more, she’s running a little late!” Jenna puzzled, her eyebrows raised.

“Yes, that’s them! Do you have any idea where I can find them?”

“Well, they’re all lodging at Fort Pinta with Marge for the 3 week course, so at the market?” I smiled, mounting Brave and already leaving.

“Thanks Jenna!!!!” I screamed as Brave galloped off, jumping over the gates and crunching through the orange leaves lining the road. Suddenly, a thought popped into my head. How was I going to act. Just stroll up and ‘Oh Hey, I was there last night and thought, thank goodness, real modern teen life on moorland, so like fancy being friends.’

“Whoa big boy, we need a break.” I brought Brave off the track and secured him at the fence. Mary would know what to do; she was always there to help out! I ran through the few trees to her favourite spot, and peered about to look for her.

Wishspers: Chapter 6 – Torch Lit Night Life!

Hey there my chums! Uploaded the next installment – make sure you stay tuned till the end of the chapter, excitement all around!! Thanks 😉

______________

I rode on and on, not stopping once. I rode straight through Silverglade, Granddad shouting my name. He knew. He knows when I’m not in the mood to talk, when I just want to be alone, my own company. I rode over to the abandoned farm, because no one really crosses over there since the broken bridge – they have no reason to! The farmhouse there is always completely deserted too, except for the memorial of the accident. There’s a procession then. I went inside the farmhouse and sat and cried, cried meaning one salty tear slid down my hot cheek and I brutally wiped it away and settled in between the hay bales, drifting off for a few hours…

A torchlight skimmed through the crack in the door, falling straight in my line of sight. I rose from my sleep, alarmed at the bright light dancing with the darkness outside. What time was it? I glanced at watch, only to heave a great sigh of relief as it had just become dark early, and was just coming up to 9.p.m. I suddenly realised how fast my heart was beating, pounding in my ears, and I gripped backwards on the hay bale to  try and steady the beat and my thoughts, my eyes following the light. I crept to the door, and pulled it open, only a crack, just big enough for me to slip out and be unnoticed. I looked over at Brave; he stood there tall, his ears pricked, clearly aware of unexpected visitors. I looked across at him and he immediately calmed himself. I dashed across the dusty walkway and stroked the tip of his nose, turning on my heel and sneaking off, following in the shadows of the strangers. They stopped mid-track, and I lunged behind the wall to catch some of the conversation.

“Where are we?” A girl mumbled, clearly standing to the left of me. Branches reached down like zombies, touching my shoulders, nipping at my coat, rustling their leaves eerily. The other girl to my right replied, and one zipped something up. The torch light continued to tango with the night, scanning over the bushes and trees surrounding. Suddenly, an awful groan came from behind me, sticks and twigs crackling under someone’s foot. My heart race was pumping again, but my head was to focused on staying quiet and keeping calm to deal with that. The thing was travelling closer, and I felt something dank sweep past me and I covered my ears and face, scared for my life. The two girls screamed, an ear-piercing shriek stabbing the silence. The girl to my left continued to shriek, demanding what it was. She fell silent quickly and began to giggle, as the other shouted at somebody.

“What on earth! What are you doing Emma?” Lily said, startled.

“I I don’t know! I was walking Annie, my dog, when she just ran of into the bushes! I tried to race after her but tripped and fell on my face. I’m not sure what happened after that!” explained Emma

“Ok well let’s go home and we can get hot chocolate and sit in front of the fire to warm you up,” smiled Alice. They turned around, and were heading straight for me. What could I do? If I turned and run, they’d surely see me, or Brave. I couldn’t just pop up and introduce myself ‘Oh, Hi there, fancy meeting you out in pitch black on an autumn evening, not like I was stalking or eavesdropping on you or anything, no, not at all!’ So I didn’t have a choice. I waited till they passed the wall, and watched them walk towards Moorland. I crept behind them, following their path, right up until Braveheart. I mounted swiftly and clasped his mane, ready to make my shock disappearance. No need. I slipped away unnoticed, cantering towards Silverglade, hearing their laughter follow me and intertwine with Brave’s hooves. I would definitely return tomorrow. New, modern Human Life on the island, in the shape and form of my age and gender? This could not be missed.

So for the beady-eyed, well-traveled or just plain clever readers amongst you, you may have guessed that this installment is linked in heavily with Alice Silentbrooke’s first ever story, The Cold, as we have decided, for the next few weeks, that we are collaborating Wishspers with The Cold! Hope you enjoy the future installments, written by both me and Alice! Bye!:D

Wishspers – Chapter 5: Sea Whisper

Hello my friends! Sorry this one’s late, been a bit ill but all good now! Hope you enjoy the sop story of Installment number 5 🙂

Admin note: The following story contains brief depictions of alcohol and drinking, as well as character death. Do not read if you find this offensive or upsetting.

______________

You know what. I was right. This Island really does suck. And it doesn’t exactly look as if it’s going to get any better…

I was just riding around, back down to Moorland, and saw Thomas. He looked like he might just cry. I asked him about Justin – me and my bad timing – and he just stared at the floor. He said that maybe I shouldn’t hang around Moorland anymore, and maybe I should just give it up about Justin, you know just go home and focus on school work or something. Thing is, unlike most people who just say things like that when they’re angry, but he seemed to really mean it. Then he walked off to his house, and I knew I clearly wasn’t welcome there anymore. I just galloped away on Braveheart, right down to the Thorny Rocks, down the road from Fort Pinta. I sat there, listening to the sea. I used to do that when my mum left me at night; sit in her makeup wardrobe, listening to the sea conch Nana gave me before she died. I used to call Nana and Granddad, every time Mum left me on my own, but after she died, I didn’t have the heart to call him. I’d just sit on my own.

It all started when I was really young, around 6, but she did sober up for three years. Then she met Nicky. And everyone could tell he was bad news. She was out till around eleven at night at first, which then progressed to the later of the earlier hours of the morning. I’d just sit and wait to hear the car draw up, and then fall asleep, sure that she was okay. Granddad wasn’t stupid though, and he knew she was leaving me. One night, he just came and took me away, and phoned her to tell Mum that he was never letting me in her house again. She was so drunk she couldn’t even speak straight, and I can remember his anger when he hung up. He sent me to bed, but I didn’t even sleep. I heard the car skid up, sliding into the tree. I could see the flames through the curtains. I could hear Granddad gasping and staggering back. I heard the sirens and witnessed the flashing lights. The stretchers and the ambulances. The police and their detectives. One came in to talk to me. She came in and saw me, staring out of the window, my eyes glassy and my skin white. She tried to pull me away from the window, saying it was okay for me to cry, and that ‘Mummy had been caught in a sad accident, but that everything was going to be okay. I knew better by then. ‘Everything is going to be OK’. Just a term of phrase. I didn’t cry once. Not at the funeral. Not at the hospital. Never. I haven’t cried since though.  I think I learned never to love again. Until Now. Until wasting it on some idiot who just ran away, just like my mum, and dad, anyone who was close to me. So, back to my old self. Young, free and moody.

So, back from my sop story, that guy Derek turned up on a horse. He started jabbering away, but he was so busy stumbling over his words, he didn’t see me ride away.

Wishspers – Chapter 4: Slipping Through my Fingers

08 Wednesday May 2013

Posted by annawhalewood in Contributors

Hello There! Before you read the story, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for your positive feedback and lovely comments! It really does always make my day! Hope you enjoy Chapter 4!

______________

I guess I was wrong…

I haven’t seen Justin for days. He ran away with some Sabine girl. So much for true love.

I hung around Moorland loads, asking for him, trying to talk. But he kept shoving me away, hanging out with this Sabine girl. He said he was busy, couldn’t talk, packing, until Sunday. He was on that boat. I could have jumped on too, but I didn’t. I froze on Brave, staring as they sailed into the distance, waving? I just don’t understand.  Why would he leave? I asked Alex, a nice girl who had been around recently, but she ran off to Valedale, saying she had some really important stuff to do, but then no one else would tell me why he had gone. Even Granddad and he tells me everything. It’s so annoying, the only one who Justin has been talking to, showing affection(disregarded now) to, being nice to, introducing to people, spending most time with is the only one who doesn’t know why he has gone? It’s plain messed up!

But, just because, people won’t tell, doesn’t mean I won’t find out, does it? I was riding out to the Hollow Woods, doing some research for my current project, and then I bumped into this kinda bonkers looking lady! I mean, I’m not being rude, she was ever so nice, but she asked me if I spoke to my horse? Well, I said yeah, when I am angry, but she said did I get into deep conversation with him? What kind of a stranger asks you that?! She then invited me in for some tea, but I decided that after that interesting conversation, I’d better not. She was carrying this little bag around with her, and it jingled like it was full of stones or something. She caught me looking and suddenly got all shady and covered the bag with her hand, and rushed off, muttering something about getting dinner ready for an early night. I just rode on, all the way to Silverglade, and went straight to Granddad. He said the woman I bumped into was some Elizabeth Sunbeam, and that I must always be polite and respect her if I ever saw her again. Asking why? Me too. But, I’ve given up asking questions for my own special lent. Way too over-rated.

BONUS Wishspers – Chapter Three: Must be Love!

01 Wednesday May 2013

Posted by annawhalewood in Contributors

Hey Guys! Fancy seeing all of you here! Just an extra bonus story for this week, thought it might be nice little surprise (even though I told you!) SO, I bring you, part three of my series Wishspers! Hope you enjoy and please do let me know down below or on the Game!

______________

Oh My Gosh!

It was amazing! We awoke so early yesterday, and raced down to Silverglade, grabbing the best of the morning bread and then we started: The Surprise

Turns out, as I was new, he had planned a day of touring and a picnic! I was truly touched! No one had ever been so kind or thoughtful towards me before, but now I felt that I finally belonged, after five years on this Island! We rode into the Castle and imitated the grand pictures, and then rode down over to Nilmer’s Highland. There we found the circus. The guy who owns it, Olaf I think he was called, somehow knows Justin and offered us free tickets to the Opening Night! We said yes and stayed chatting for a while and then went down towards the beach. He told me an amazing story about the broken bridge above – about how there used to be championships over onto the other side, and galloping through the bridge, a young man had fallen to the sea below and died! WE kept cantering onward  and soon came to an old den, with hay stacks and old sacks of corn and a canoe. We sat and ate the picnic and cloud watched for hours, talking about life, where I came from. He asked me about my parents, but I steered off the conversation quickly. I don’t need the only cool guy on this island  knowing what a total child of freaks I am. As it began to dusk, we rode back into Silverglade Village, to Granddad, who didn’t seem too happy to have found me making new friends. He was ‘far too busy then’ and told me to say Goodbye to Justin and ride on home to do some chores and wait for him for dinner.  So of course I did what he said… with a slight de tour!

I needed to get closer to Justin, and I thought offering for him to come up to my place sometime! He was so nice and polite about the whole Granddad thing, so I invited him for dinner that night. I wanted Granddad to know that I was sensible and could behave. We had already cooked dinner and had laid the table and cleaned by the time granddad got home. At first he seemed a little cold, but as soon as Justin got him onto the subject of the Council Archives, they were getting along like a house on fire. I walked him down to the end of the road, and I felt like we just totally clicked. Is true love real?  Especially for someone like me? I never thought so before, but now my opinion might just be changing…

Wishspers – Chapter 2: Island Lovers

29 Monday Apr 2013

Hey Guys! So a slightly shorter chapter today, but I may upload two next week, just for a bonus! Didn’t really know what to call this one, but hey ho, and I hope you enjoy the second installment of Wishspers!:)

______________

I was riding down to Moorland today, just minding my own business when some huge yellow truck appeared, freaking the daylights out of Brave. He screamed and ran in the opposite direction, slitting his knee on some thorns. He threw me off on the road to Silverglade, and ran into the fields ahead. I thought I’d lost him. The truck driver couldn’t have cared less. He just drove on, and told me to ‘Watch it, or next time my horse wouldn’t be so lucky’. He had a sickening grin plastered to his face as he passed, leaving me stunned, glued to the dusty floor. I didn’t move for a while, shaken from the fall. But I heard Brave crying out and pulled myself out of the trance, jumping up and chasing his pleas, running wildly across the meadows. I saw someone trying to calm him, but it wasn’t working. He didn’t seem to listen to anyone else; Granddad aside, and was trotting around wildly, flaring his nostrils out. A man called Landon was the person trying to calm him. I was tired from running and walked towards him, relaxed after knowing he was safe. By the time I reached the shepherd, he and Brave were practically best friends, after a nice pat and a well-earned carrot! He said that those awful trucks were planning to invade the beauty of the island and build houses everywhere, destroying the nature. Yeah yeah, I know what you’re thinking, the girl who, though living here for five years, three days ago, after a month with Braveheart, she was nattering on about trampling beasts and some rubbish beauty, and would have practically worshiped anyone who had built something that somewhat reminded her of modern life, once you’re here, it just sticks, all I have to say. So, I will be beside the people of Moorland (and Justin!) until the very end!

So, after my little run-in with the BYB (Big Yellow Bulldozer), I went on down to Moorland to meet Justin. He checked Brave over (like he said) and then asked me if I was ready for my surprise! I couldn’t resist, so I’m here now, staying at Jen’s Hotel in Moorland for the night, and I cannot even explain how excited I am!

Wishspers – Chapter 1: Meeting Moorland

20 Saturday Apr 2013

Posted by annawhalewood in Contributors

Hi! I’m Anna, a new contributor to Star Stable Online Ride Through! I’m going to be writing once a week, installing a new chapter each time to a fictional story, set on the Island of Jorvik. My first story, the first chapter written here, is called ‘Wishspers’. Hope you enjoy!:)

______________

I live on the Island of Jorvik, a place well known for the astounding beauty and nature surrounding the small villages, but also, or rather, mainly for the stables and horses living on the island. Great. Some old island with ‘stunning nature’ and a load of animals that trample around nosily all the time. Just what I like to see in an Island.

I moved out here 5 years ago, when my parents died in a car crash. I don’t care. They didn’t love me anyway, and I much preferred my Granddad in character and style. Though, when he decided that it wasn’t a good idea to live in the same town my parents died in, and that we were moving to some old Fishing Town on the outskirts of a huge Island, I wasn’t exactly leaping for joy. I was happy back in Mandeville – I had friends, and the cottage was nice. But no, it apparently wasn’t anything to do with me, and Granddad had made the decision and whatever I said would be heard but disregarded, as we were leaving the very next day. So I said goodbye to my friends, who promised to visit every summer (well that worked out of course, some friends they were) and set off, on, according to my Granddad, a brand new adventure.

I don’t go to school here. When I first got here, I had to travel miles by horse to school in a village called Silverglade. Lets just say that teachers don’t respect having a bucket of water be placed ‘accidentally’ over their heads so that when they open the door, it will spill over them, so, after a stern speaking to, my Granddad pulled me out of school and started to home-school me. And that’s where I am now. And I love it. Each term I pick a subject, like History or Geography, and then I have to research the history of the island, or why we have a certain type of tree growing there, as a project of freedom aside from English, Maths, Science and my other chosen subjects. My Granddad trusts me, and me and my horse Braveheart are allowed to ride out to any of the permitted places on the island and draw, or collect information. It’s great. And it’s about to get even better…..

Me and Brave were just riding down to Moorland, the main stables in the South of Jorvik. We were riding there to speak to Thomas, owner of the Stables and, turns out, Father of the cutest guy ever! So, he told me the owners of my horse had heard how well we were getting on together and have proposed a slight discount on him, so that I can buy Brave! As I was riding out of the village back home to tell Granddad, I bumped into a guy who introduced himself as Justin. He is so nice and kind, and he introduced me to the others around Moorland: May, Loretta, Tanya and Jen. They’re all quite nice, apart from Loretta, who thinks she owns Justin, but we’ll soon show her! Anyways, he invited me back there tomorrow to check out Braveheart and said he has a surprise! I can’t wait!
