Back to Mrs Packard

andy

Hey Rita! So awesome that you want to carry on helping me with the geocaching contest!

Would you be able to head back over to my Grandma, Mrs Packard? Ask her if she’s received any applications to my competition? I expect we should have received some applications by now, wouldn’t you think?

Objectives: Pick up the competition applications from Mrs Packard.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Ride up to Firgrove Village and speak to Mrs Packard by her house at the rear of the village.

mrs_packard

Why hello to you Rita! How are you?

You want to pick up the applications for Andy’s competition?

Quest completed

______________

Gone With the Wind!

mrs_packard

I’ve got some bad news about the applications, I’m afraid…

I’d just opened the mailbox to collect my letters when at that exact moment, a big gust of wind came from absolutely nowhere! I wasn’t at all prepared for it, and so all of Andy’s applications suddenly found themselves scattered around in the wind!

Oh, loveliest Rita, how sweet of you to ask whether any of my own mail was blown away… You’re ever so thoughtful.

Well, the mailman hadn’t actually delivered mine by that time; the only thing in the mailbox were the applications for Andy’s competition.

Would you be so kind as to help me find the applications that flurried away, dear Rita?

Oh, thanks ever so much dearie! How very kind of you to help me gather up all the missing applications. I should rather imagine they’re spread out all over the village by now. It would be ever so sweet of you to gather them up and bring them back to me.

Objectives: Collect all the competition applications that had flown off!

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Pick up the pieces of paper that are flying around in the wind around the village, then return to Mrs Packard when you have them all.

mrs_packard

Thank you ever so much, you wonderful little jewel!

Quest completed

______________

Andy’s Applications

mrs_packard

Truly adorable of you to have gathered up all the applications that flew away, dearest little Rita. Are you going to take them to Andy now? I hope he won’t be too disheartened, there didn’t look to be that many responses, I’m afraid.

Rita love, will you take them over to Andy?

Objectives: Give the competition applications to Andy.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Return to Andy with the applications to the geocaching contest.

andy

The applications have arrived? Amazing! Let’s see who’s applied…

Quest completed

______________

The Art of Collecting a Secret Prize…

andy

Now, almost everything’s ready for my geocaching contest. The only thing missing is the prize to go in the treasure chest you helped me assemble.

Right now, the prize is with the Councilman in Firgrove. He let me store the prize with him since I was so busy with all the preparations here.

Would you be able to trot over to the Councilman in Firgrove and pick it up for me?

Thanks so much Rita! Promise you won’t take a sneaky peek at the prize! It should be a secret right up until the winner finds out what it is!

Objectives: Collect the prize for Andy’s contest from the Councilman in Firgrove.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Ride to Firgrove Village and speak to Mr Franklin, the Councilman.

mr_franklin

Hey! You’re here to collect the prize for Andy’s contest, I presume?

Quest completed

______________

Resisting a Sneaky Peek

mr_franklin

Andy asked if I could keep the prize for him here with me. It seems as though he has had ever such a lot to do with all the preparations for his competition. I’ve seen all the posters around the village, it really seems like a great initiative of his!

What the prize is or could be is something I have absolutely no idea about whatsoever, but I dare say the winner of the competition will find out soon enough! Haha!

Will you ride over to Andy with the parcel containing the prize? Fantastic Rita! It’s a little on the heavy side, but I’m sure you’ll be able to handle it.

Objectives: Take the parcel to Andy.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Return to Andy with the prize for the geocaching competition.

andy

How did it go collecting the prize? Great! Thanks so much for all your help!!

Quest completed

______________

Welcome to the Competition!

andy

Doesn’t seem like many people applied for my contest…

…Sigh.

Hmm… What should I do now…?

You know what, Rita? Maybe you’re right. Maybe it does take time to build up a reputation and get people interested in a competition like this.

But even if not as many people applied as I’d hoped, we have to run competition anyway! Especially with all the preparations we’ve done together.

Would you like to have a go?

For real? Great! You sure?

Haha, fantastic! You think it sounds fun? Nice! Lucky I never showed you the clues I hid!

I’ve hidden five clues, all spread out in locations around Firgrove. I’ll give you the first clue and then it’s your job to let it lead you to the second clue’s location… Carry on like that until you find the last clue, which is when you should ride back to me and tell me what you’ve found. The person who finds all the clues in the fastest time wins my amazing prize!

You ready then Rita? Here comes the first clue. Listen carefully now!

Let’s go see what the test from your samples showed.

Eviction of G

mr_franklin

You were absolutely right. The contents of that jar you gave me were incredibly dangerous. That crook Mr Kembell is trying to dispose of toxic waste here in Firgrove woods. It is as illegal as it could possibly be. Now we can evict him and see that he leaves here for good… and quick.

Everyone, to the cottage! Rita, we’ll see you there.

Objectives: Meet the councilman at Mr Kembell’s cottage.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride to Mr Kembell’s cottage and meet everyone there.

mr_kembell

Barrels? What barrels? I don’t know what you are talking about. This is slander! I will sue you for everything you own Rita!

mr_franklin

Rita, what is the meaning of this? Where are all the barrels you were talking about?

Reward: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

It’s just Mr Kembell being a snake, again.

Barrels? You are beginning to be a little crazy, Rita. Ha ha. I promise, when my lawyers and I finish with you, a stick of gum will be too expensive for you. Ha ha ha!

Quest completed

______________

Distraction and Deception

gretchen

Rita, psst! I have a great idea that I should get them all to look at me so you can sneak away and find where all the barrels have gone then come back here and show them that I have really learned my lessons well at spy school right right right right?

Are you ready?

Of course I saw when he was moving all those barrels as I was watching so I saw him carry a lot of them to the barn up there behind the house so they still have to be up there, don’t you think?

Are you sure you are ready?

HELLOOO EVERYONE LOOK AT MEEE! I saw a moose in the woods over there I promise it was SUPER big and had a horn of gold that glittered in the sun so that I was almost blinded as if I had stared into a flashlight that shone as bright as the sun that is really a star in a galaxy that is called the Milky Way that you can see in the sky sometimes but not now… That rode on a hose… Almost like a cat but more square in shape… If you think a little little horse but not quite…

Objectives: Look for barrels of waste around Mr Kembell’s cottage.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

While Gretchen has everyone distracted, sneak through the fence and go up to the barn behind Mr Kembell’s cottage, to find the hidden barrels. When you have found the barrels, return to the gates to show everyone that you found them.

mr_kembell

What is that? Barrels full of waste? In my barn?

I don’t know what you are talking about? I haven’t done anything!

Stop lying? I’m not lying… Those might be my barrels…

But you all would have done the same as me, you know it! I got one thousand Jorvik Shillings for every barrel I hid… There is nobody who wouldn’t have taken that deal! If the waste ran out into the environment? Bah… Who cares about that? I’m gong to pave all of Jorvik, just wait!

Quest completed

______________

Get Out of Firgrove

mr_kembell

Grrr… How can I have such bad luck? It is always Rita that ruins my plans.

Next time Rita, next time…

Next time? With pleasure…

mr_franklin

Well done Rita!

Quest completed

New Residents of Firgrove

mr_franklin

Rita, it was very lucky you could help us with Mr Kembell. Otherwise this might have gone very badly. But what should we do now?

Hmmm…

Gunther and Helga, house that was owned by Mr Kembell is now owned by Firgrove Village, it is now in my power to do with it what I think is for the best. Are you interested in living here in Firgrove? We would like you to take the house as thanks from all the residents of Firgrove.

Objectives: Speak with Gunther Helga.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Let’s see what Helga has to say about the good news. She speaks for Gunther.

helga

Oh, dear councilman. Danke shon. Danke shon, how can we possibly thank you?

This is just fantastic Gunther, it is even nicer than the pictures we saw of the house we thought we were buying.

Mr Councilman, we would be pleased to accept your offer and promise to be good residents of your fine village.

Quest completed

______________

Thank You for Everything

helga

Rita, danke so much. How could we possibly repay you? We can promise you this, if you ever need help in the future all you have to do is ask.

a lesson in master spy techniques, a new master spy, gretchen, gunther, helga, mr franklin, not acceptable as evidence, now we have evidence, report from the spies, report to agent y9

Let’s see what the agents have found out about Mr Kembell’s operation.

Report from the Spies

gunther

Guten tag, Rita!

Now, we have found something very dirty that Mr Kembell is up to.

In the middle of the night, when it was darkest, a mysterious truck arrived. It stopped right outside Mr Kembell’s cottage and unloaded a large number of barrels. Both Agent Y9, Agent B1, and I could smell the toxic fumes from the barrels all the way from our hiding spot.

It has to be illegal to store those barrels there, don’t you think?

Objectives: Meet Helga at the councilman in Firgrove. Tell him about the barrels.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride back to Firgrove Village and speak with Mr Franklin about what has been discovered.

mr_franklin

Barrels being unloaded in the middle of the night?

Quest completed

______________

Not Acceptable as Evidence

mr_franklin

Very interesting, but I’m afraid it isn’t enough as evidence. There could have been anything in those barrels. We need some physical evidence. Hmmm… If you could get your hands on a sample from one of those barrels of waste, I could act.

Helga and Rita, I hope you understand that my hands are tied until I have some concrete evidence against Mr Kembell’s dirty business.

Objectives: Tell Helga what the councilman said.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Hmm… I wonder what we can do about this.

helga

Evidence? Hmmm… So he needs concrete evidence. Then I guess we will have to get it. Are you ready to learn some spy techniques, Rita?

Quest completed

______________

A New Master Spy

helga

Ride over and meet Gretchen by Mr Kembell’s cottage, Rita. She is keeping the cottage under observation to see if any other illegal activity is going on.

Ask her to teach you how to move silently and hide like a master spy. She has only done the basics at spy school so she isn’t fully trained, but I am sue she can show you enough for what we need to do next.

Meet us at the councilman when you are done.

Objectives: Meet Gretchen at Mr Kembell’s cottage.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride back to Mr Kembell’s cottage, and speak with Gretchen standing outside.

gretchen

So mother said that I should teach you how to sneak around like a master spy? Wow! It is going to be so much fun to teach you how to move like a cat or a very soft stone. You know they can be very quiet. Not like me as I can’t seem to stop talking, blah blah blah…

Quest completed

______________

A Lesson in Master Spy Techniques

gretchen

Okay, listen carefully now Rita, to what I am saying so it will go super well for you, so ll you need to do to avoid Mr Kembell, if he sees you then you will have to run away, but it should be easy because if you see him coming you should be able to hide but don’t forget to look for the barrels so you can take a sample from them in this jar I got from Momma, so good luck and goodbye!

WAIT! I need to spray you with this here anti-dog spray that makes it so they can’t smell you… But Summerblaze will have to stay outside because he is too big to get through the hole in the fence and you need to go through and there isn’t enough spray for you both…

-Pfffft!-

Objectives: Look for a poison barrel and take a sample from it with the jar you got from Gretchen. Watch out for Mr Kembell and his dogs.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Go in through the hole in the fence and watch out for Mr Kembell and the dogs. Time your run so that they don’t see you. Run up to a barrel to check for the toxin. Find one with some in it, take a sample, then return to Gretchen outside.

gretchen

Wow, wow, wow, that was great sneaking, Rita. You are as good as me and I have been going to school for a couple of years so you must have a super talent for this!

Quest completed

______________

Report to Agent Y9

gretchen

Superamazingfantastic job Rita! You were like a ninja panther that moved quieter than a panther ninja in the middle of the night.

Take the poison sample to Momma and say hello from me. Goodbye for now, I have to keep spying.

Objectives: Ride back to Helga with the jar of poison.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Rita, show the councilman the poison you found.

Objectives: Show the councilman the jar of toxic waste.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Guten tag Rita!

Do you know what has happened? We have bought a summer home here on Jorvik! Fantastic isn’t it! We are so unbelievably happy, even we haven’t seen it yet. Bought it without seeing it yet? I know, you should never do that but the estate agent was just so nice and friendly and he promised us that everything would be fine. He bought us coffee and ice cream at the disco and we knew we could just trust him one hundred percent.

Do you think you could help us with the last couple things? Here is the signed contract, we only need to mail it and the deal is done. Can you take it directly to Derek in Silverglade? This is so important, we don’t want to trust it to the regular mail. Imagine if it got lost on the way there?

Great! Come and meet us at the summer cottage later, it is up in Hollow Woods.

We Have Been Fooled

helga

Verdammt! We have been completely fooled Rita. What should we do? Find the agent? How? I’m sure he is long gone by now.

What did he look like? Very nice in a suit and everything. Mr Kembell was his name. Have you met him before? A real crook you say?! Oh Rita, we are never going to get our money back.

You are going to find him? Oh thank you Rita! Look in Fort Pinta… Maybe you can find some clues as to where he is there.

Objectives: Ride to Fort Pinta and see if you can find any clues to where Mr Kembell might be.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Speak with the Security in Fort Pinta to see if he knows anything about where Mr Kembell went.

Mr Kembell? Never heard of him. What did he look like?

Quest completed

A Clue

security

Slimy, dressed in a suit, with an evil grin?

Aha, Mr Kettle! He was nice! He told me he had been a general before, but now he was working as a real estate agent. He wondered if I would be interested in an old army bunker. I have checked with the bank and I could get the money I need! I thought I would sign a contract with him the next time we met, but I haven’t seen him for a while. Imagine Rita, my OWN bunker!

WHAT!! A con-artist? Not the general?!?

That was… How is it possible… Fool me? Are you sure?

Oh, what a traitor! Are you going to catch him? He was sitting in there by the DJ booth and worked with his papers… Look there for clues.

And you… If you find him… Let him know that his is not welcome at this disco as long as I work here!

A business card?! Let me have a look.

Quest completed

______________

Mr Kembell’s Office

helga

Let me see…

Look Rita, there is a map on the back of the card. Somewhere south of Firgrove it says. You should look at it yourself and see if you can figure out where he lives.

Please Rita, can you find Mr Kembell and ask if we can take back the sale? That was the last of our savings… He can’t be so evil that he will steal everything we have?

Meet us at the councilman in Firgrove when you have met Mr Kembell… We are going to the councilman to see if he can help.

Objectives: Find Mr Kembell and ask him to reverse the sale to Gunther and Helga.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

His new house is back by the bear cave in Firgrove.

mr_kembell

Oh, good day! Welcome to Mr Kembell’s Estate Agency. Best service in Jorvik! Can I perhaps interest you in a fantastic cottage in Hollow Woods?

Wait a minute… I remember you!

Rita…

Grrr… What are you doing here? Go away!

Quest completed

No Returns

mr_kembell

Ha ha ha!

The contract is signed and everything is perfectly legal. There is NOTHING you can do about it this time!

All of their savings? HA HA HA! Serves them right. Stupid tourists!

You are going to speak with the councilman in Firgrove? Good luck! Another thing… When you meet him, let him know that I am here to stay.

Get out of here now before I put the dogs on you! Never come back, do you hear me!

Objectives: Ride over to the councilman in Firgrove and see if he can help to get back the money that Gunther and Helga bought the summer cottage with.

Rewards: 4 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride back to Firgrove Village and speak with Mr Franklin about the issue.

mr_franklin

Mr Kembell? What an awful man! He completely fooled us when he rented the cottage in the woods outside our village. He said that he was going to start a home for homeless dogs but instead he put barbed wire all the way around the property and brought the most awful, angry dogs I have ever seen. How awful! He also fooled those nice people, Gunther and Helga?

Quest completed

______________

There is Nothing We Can Do

mr_franklin

Sigh. Believe me Rita, there is nothing we can do. He is very clever that Mr Kembell. It is very sad to hear that he has fooled Gunther and Helga… They are such nice people and all of Firgrove could use a ray of sunshine like Gretchen to brighten up the place.

I am sorry, Gunther and Helga, if we can’t find evidence that he has done something illegal, there is nothing we can do.

Objectives: Tell Gunther and Helga that they are not going to get their savings back.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Good!

Gunther, we can trust Rita, right? It is time for her to find out who we really are…

Rita, speak with my husband.

Objectives: Speak with Gunther.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

It seems the tourists have a secret…

gunther

Our secret… There is nobody who knows… Shhh…

Quest completed

______________

We Are All Spies

gunther

Wait… Good, nobody can hear us. Come closer Rita, so I can tell you…

We are here as tourists, but that isn’t everything we are… Back home in Germany… Well… We are spies.

Shhh! Nobody can know about it.

Listen. We really want to remain incognito here on vacation and get away from smuggling codes, disarming bombs, or going to exclusive balls with the president, and getting attacked by ninjas. Sometimes we just want to sit on a log and smell the grass… Do you understand?

You can’t tell anyone about this… It is so calm and nice here on Jorvik.

But… We are going to have to take a break from our vacation. We’ll need to use some of our spy techniques to get to the bottom of this little problem with that slimeball Mr Kembell.

a confused ghost, a special place, another ghost, as stubborn as a ghost, ask the ghost, council man, ghosts there, in the shade of a tree, loretta, meaningful ring, mr franklin, mr hill, mrs holdsworth, rest in peace, tan, the council man might know, then what happened, two reliable old sources, two that have seen the ghost, you could be a ghost

Here are all of the quests with Mr and Mrs Hill’s ghosts.

You Can Be a Ghost!

mr_hill

Watch where you are riding lunatic! You aren’t the only person up here, you know!

Ghost?! YOU could be a ghost! You almost run me over like a mad-woman then accuse me of being a ghost? All I’m doing here is waiting here, minding my own business, waiting for my wife to come home. Get out of here! Ghost… Hah!

“Wow… Could this be a real ghost? Am I dreaming? I need to speak with someone about this. Maybe someone at Moorland Stables has heard something about this…”

Objectives: Speak with someone at Moorland Stables about the ghost in Nilmer’s Highland.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Maybe Tan would know something about this?

tan

A ghost? Ha ha, you didn’t think I’d fall for that, did you Rita?

Quest completed

______________

Ghosts There?

tan

Whoa… You aren’t joking? Okay. I’m not entirely convinced it was a ghost you saw… Maybe you ate something funny… Or didn’t get enough sleep? Did you watch too many scary movies lately?

The only thing I know is that the farm up there has been abandoned for many years. Go and ask Loretta about it… I think she knows more about that farm.

Objectives: Speak with Loretta.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

I hate it when people don’t take me seriously…

Maybe Loretta will be more helpful.

loretta

Ghost? You saw it too?

Quest completed

______________

Two That Have Seen the Ghost

loretta

I knew I wasn’t crazy, Rita! You actually spoke to it! Brrr… I’d never be able to do that. There used to be a competition track here before, a long time ago, that went up past where that farm is now. The beginning of the track hasn’t changed since then… But the race used to be longer and finish up on the other side of the river by Hill Crest. I’m sure you have seen the broken bridge by the abandoned farm up there? I think the bridge might have something to do with the ghost…

Anyways, Mrs Holdsworth is old enough that she probably remembers something from that time. She must know more than I do. Maybe you should ask her?

Objectives: Speak with Mrs Holdsworth.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Mrs Holdsworth knows about a lot of things.

mrs_holdsworth

Hey, my little friend! What’s on your mind? The broken bridge by Nilmer’s Highland? There was a horrible accident that happened there…

Quest competed

______________

Two Reliable Old Sources

mrs_holdsworth

Like I said, it was a tragic accident. During a competition, the old bridge collapsed! I remember it like it was yesterday. All of Jorvik was in shock when it happened. What made you ask me about it? It was a very long time ago. You want to know about the people who died? All I know is that it was a handsome man with a handsome horse. The papers wrote a lot about the accident. I’m sure there are some old copies of the Jorvik Gazette in the library archives. That’s where I would look if I were you. Good luck my friend!

Objectives: Ride to the library at the Winery and try to find more information about the accident.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

One more trip to the library. Pick up the newspaper on top of the bookshelf, inside the library.

newspaper

“This article is about the accident in Nilmer’s Highland. Let’s see what it says…”

A competitor was killed in a tragic accident during the weekend’s competition in Moorland when the bridge over the southern part of the river collapsed. It appears that the wooden structure of the bridge had begun to rot and that lead to the collapse. The man who died has been identified as Mr Hill. Mr Hill leaves behind a wife who is grief stricken after the accident.

Quest completed

______________

Then What Happened?

newspaper

“The article continues…”

The council in Silverglade is investigating the accident, the people responsible for the competition, and will speak to the wife of the victim. A report on the incident will be delivered soon.

“Hmm… The Council Man in Silverglade might know something more about this…”

Objectives: Speak with the Council Man in Silverglade Village.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Let’s go see if the Council Man knows anything.

council_man

An accident in Nilmer’s Highland? It must have been before I started working here. But of course I’ll help you try to find out more about it.

Quest completed

Return to the Council Man tomorrow.

______________

The Council Man Might Know

council_man

I went down into the archives and dug around a bit. I found the report on the accident. It turns out the bridge wasn’t built up to proper standards at all! G.E.D., the company who built the bridge, used old wood and substandard concrete to save money. It was a long time ago, and now G.E.D. is viewed as a respectable company… At least they seem to think so.

His wife, Mrs Hill, moved to Firgrove after the accident, according to the report. If you want to know more about her, you should speak to my colleague, the council man in Firgrove.

Objectives: Speak with the council man in Firgrove Village.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride to Firgrove and speak with Mr Franklin. Maybe he knows more.

mr_franklin

Mrs Hill? Yes, she lived here. I’m sorry to say it but she died many years ago. Was she a relative of yours?

Quest completed

______________

Another Ghost?

mr_franklin

Aha, not a relative then. Unfortunately, Mrs Hill has been dead for a long time now and her house has been torn down. So I’m not really sure what I can do to help you. I remember her quite well. She was an excellent dressage rider. It was always a bit sad to see her as she was heartbroken and never really recovered from her husband’s accident. The only time she really perked up was wen she would ride the competition track outside the village. She said it reminded her of her lost love.

I’ve heard the other villagers here say that they have seen her up there, along the track outside the village, after she died… But I don’t really believe it. You can ride around up there and have a look for yourself but I wouldn’t expect anything.

Objectives: Look for Mrs Hill outside Firgrove Village along the riding trail.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Mrs Hill can be found along the hard forest track. Go down to where Minka is, then follow the trail up onto the bridge with the two breaks in it. Mrs Hill is standing at the end of the bridge (or follow the trail in reverse, and she’s off the trail before the bridge).

quest-mrs_hill

mrs_hill

Ooooo… My looove… Where are youuuuu?

Quest completed

______________

A Confused Ghost

mrs_hill

Oooo… My husband… Where are you… I need to find you… Ooooo….

“I can’t seem to reach her… Maybe I should try and speak with Mr Hill.”

Objectives: Speak with the ghost in Nilmer’s Highland.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride back to Nilmer’s Highland and speak with Mr Hill’s ghost.

mr_hill

My wife is in Firgrove? Balderdash!

Quest completed

______________

Ask the Ghost

mr_hill

My wife lives in Firgrove? What are you talking about? She lives here with me. If you don’t believe me, go in and look in my attic for yourself. All her pictures, books, and other things are up there like they always have been.

Objectives: Look in the house for anything that might convince Mr Hill that his wife doesn’t live there anymore.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Dismount your horse to go into the attic. Search through the boxes there, then return to Mr Hill when you have found something.

mr_hill

My goodness… That is my wife’s wedding ring! She never takes that off… What is going on?

Quest completed

______________

Meaningful Ring

mr_hill

How can her ring be here? She never, ever takes it off… I don’t understand… Is someone playing a joke on me? It doesn’t really matter, she needs to get her ring back.

My poor wife, she must be really upset. Take the ring… Find her for me please. I will be eternally in your debt.

“He seems really upset about her ring… Maybe I shouldn’t mention I found his ring too…”

Objectives: Take the rings to Mrs Hill.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride back to Firgrove, where you found Mrs Hill, and show her the rings.

mrs_hill

Oooo… Booo… Where is my love… Whaa?

That is my ring. And my husband’s! Where did you find them? Who are you?

Quest completed

Return to Mrs Hill tomorrow.

______________

Ride to Firgrove and show Mrs Hill the wedding rings you found.

A Special Place

mrs_hill

You found our rings. It feels like waking up from a dream.

Look at me… I am no longer flesh and blood… I am transparent! I’m ready to accept that I am dead… I have to be. I am a ghost.

What was that? You know where my husband is? He doesn’t  know the fate he met a long time ago on that horrible day? I need to go see him. It is the only thing that will give me peace and I’m sure it is the same for him.

I know what we should do. Take our rings and place them on my husband’s grave… Or as I should really say OUR grave… Which I remember now. You should be able to find it. The grave lies a little south of an apple grove, by a little cape where you can see Fort Pinta on the other side of the water. The grave is in the shade of a big old tree.

Objectives: Put the rings on the grave. Our grave lies to the south of the apple grove, by a little hill where you can see Fort Pinta and the official castle on the other side of the castle.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride along the Fire Trail, past Applegrove. There will be a large hill between the road and the water. The graves are hidden in some foliage on the back side of the hill.

quest-ghost_grave

mrs_hill

With the rings placed on our graves I could find my way here, and so will my husband. I know it must sound weird, but the rings acted like a compass out of the mist for me.

Quest completed

______________

As Stubborn as a Ghost

mrs_hill

You think it might be a problem to get my husband here? That sounds just like him… He has always been very stubborn.

Tell him to meet me at our special place. He will understand what I mean. It was where he proposed to me and it was where we always went for special occasions. When my husband died in that tragic accident, I had him buried here. We always said we wanted to be buried together here when the time came.

Go and give it your best try now. I hope we see you again soon.

Objectives: Tell Mr Hill to go to the couple’s secret meeting place; the hill south of Applegrove.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Ride back to Nilmer’s Highland and speak with Mr Hill.

mr_hill

She said she wants to meet at our special place? I never thought of that. I’m sure she is there. All this waiting is finally over. I’m coming my love! I just need to put on something nice to meet her in…

Quest completed

______________

In the Shade of a Tree

mr_hill

Everything else can wait, I’m on my way to my darling!

Please ride on ahead and let her know that I am on my way. I’ll get there as fast as I can!

Objectives: Ride to the grave and tell Mrs Hill that her husband is on his way.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Return to Mrs Hill at their special place near Applegrove.

mrs_hill

My darling! Finally!

Quest completed

______________

Rest in Peace

mr_hill

A gravestone, in the place where I once proposed to my wife. What does it say?

“Here lies Mr and Mrs Hill in the shade of the tree where they first met.”

This is our gravestone. My darling wife… Now I understand. Rita, you have done us a huge kindness. I am sorry I resisted but I’m sure you can understand now. Now we can be together forever, precisely how it should be.

I could never thank you enough for what you have done. My wife says that in the attic of our house, among her old things, there is something she would like you to have.

Farewell!

Objectives: Look in the attic of Mr Hill’s house in Nilmer’s Highland for something Mrs Hill wanted you to have.

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP, Mrs Hill’s Competition Saddle

Ride back to Nilmer’s Highland and check out the attic of the house.

self

“A dressage saddle! This must be Mrs Hill’s old dressage saddle that she used in competitions all over the world. How kind of her! I’m glad Mr and Mrs Hill can finally rest in peace together.”

Look for Clues in History

linda

Help me read these books. I think there might be some important details here.

Objectives: Read the books and see if you can find what we are looking for…

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Read through all of the books set out on the table for you. I have underlined the important clues.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“The year of our Lord, 1218, October

It was a foggy and cold winter morning. Jon Jarl’s ships have been in dire straits for weeks. There is not enough food or fresh water left on board. The food stores were next to completely empty and the crew near death but they did not want to let their Jarl down.

Jon was convinced that they would find an undiscovered land out here in the ocean. God has shown hi a vision of the land and those visions were coming more often as time went by. Was Jon crazy? Or would he prove once and for all he was right? The crew was loyal and true and would follow him anywhere.

In the same moment, a crewman was thinking of jumping overboard to end his starvation, something happened. The fog opened before the ship to reveal rising cliffs above the waters.

Land ho! Land ho! We’ve spotted land!

It turned out Jon was right. Again. The first ship unfortunately never found out, as the large rocks that would later be called Tower Cliffs, tore out the bottom of the ship. All hands aboard were lost.

Jarl’s ship and the rest of the group turned away when they saw the fate of the first ship and they instead landed at a calmer beach down the coast a long way south of the Tower Cliffs.

There Jon first put his armored foot on the shore and climbed up a fifty-foot cliff, which would later be the site of their first fort, and shouted into the night: I a Jon Jarl, son of Jor! This land is now my land an will be called Jorvik and I will defend it with my life as long as I live and with my soul when I am dead!

Thunder boomed down from the mountains. If Jon and his crew had not been so relieved at their landing, they might not have noticed the sound was not thunder, but a huge herd of wild horses frightened by his shouts. Their new land would be richer than they ever would have imagined”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“Out of Nic Stoneground’s Travel Diary, 1989, vol.12:

I was very impressed by the giant statue that has been erected here. The old fort is watched over by the huge statue of the former Governor Gareth. With only a cannonball and a boat hook he defended Jorvik against the continental pirates. Without his bravery, Jorvik would have been lost. This is the reason for the statue.

quest-diary_drawing

The location was a natural choice, when Jon Jarl landed in 1218 and built Jorvik’s first fort. Governor Gareth modernized the old fort in the 1600s using the most up-to-date defense construction techniques.

Gareth was proud of the fact that his ancestors had traveled with Columbus on his first transatlantic voyage in 1492 and therefore named the fort after the famous sister ship of the Santa Maria.

During the extensive renovations it is said that Gareth found a number of very interesting artifacts in the walls of the old fort. It is also legend that Gareth still watches over a very unique artifact himself from beyond the grave. The artifact apparently has something to do with the sun.

Some day I will find the time to investigate these stories more thoroughly… But today I have an exciting church ruin to visit. But this was fascinating I have to say.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“The funeral of Jon Jarl was held on a bleak autumn day in the year 1263. During the last forty-five years since Jon had ruled Jorvik, and had never left since the day he first claimed the island as his own. He fought hard for many years but was viewed as a just and popular ruler who tried hard to unite the many small kingdoms that emerged on the island. Anyone who stood against Jon would face a very dangerous enemy.

Well, everyone knows of his exploits and the history books explain it well. The funeral was a huge even with many guests representing nearly all the clans of Jorvik. One clan in particular was the Silfer Clan of Jon’s descendants who still make their home in Silverglade today. Even the local druids attended who had a good relationship with Jon Jarl.

The funeral lasted three days and was followed by a month of official mourning and peace on Jorvik.

The actual burial was in a crypt not far from the Tower Cliffs where the first of his ships had sunk when he had discovered Jorvik. From there he could eternally watch over his mighty castle to the south.

The great crypt consisted of several rooms, the portal to each room was sealed with a magical rune stone that could only be opened with a special magical key. A Sun Key, a Moon Key, a Lightning Key, and a Star Key. These magical druid seals have been forgotten with the passage of time.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

When you are done reading the books, speak with Linda.

linda

I don’t get it. Do you? If you think you know what we are looking for, have a look and see if you can find it.

Quest completed

All of the clues point to the Sun Key being located at the statue in Fort Pinta. Let’s go there and see what we can find.

The Sun Key

self

“You push hard on the nameplate and with a click it opens and reveals a secret compartment… With something inside…”

Objectives: Take the object from the hidden compartment and see if it can be used to open the blocked opening in Jarl’s Crypt.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 65 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Go into Jarl’s Crypt, north of Fort Pinta, and try to use the Sun Key on the first door. When you open the door, go into the next room of the crypt. Are you afraid of ghosts?

self

“A blue light appears in the mysterious well of the crypt. You feel the presence of something or someone here in the crypt…”

Quest completed

______________

Jon Jarl’s Ghost

jon_jarl_ghost

I am Jon Jarl, son of Jor and forever guardian of Jorvik and its protectors from beyond the grave! Who is it that tries to open the first portal to my final resting place?

Objectives: Tell Jon Jarl who you are.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

I come in peace!

jon_jarl_ghost

Rita? Hmmm… I’ve never heard of you… But I guess many years have passed since I began my eternal rest. I may help you but first you must convince me of who you really are what you truly stand for.

Quest completed

______________

Jarl’s Riddles

jon_jarl_ghost

So you want the fragment of Aideen’s Light? I can give it to you if you convince me you are worth and have your heart in the right place. If I am satisfied with your answers I will give you a true fragment of Aideen’s Light.

Objectives: Answer Jon Jarl’s questions.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 30 with Keepers of Aideen

Pass Jarl’s test to get the fragment of Aideen’s Light.

jon_jarl_ghost

Honorable Rita, I understand now that you are a true supporter of the Keepers of Aideen.

Quest completed

______________

Fragment of Aideen’s Light

jon_jarl_ghost

I will meet you and give you the fragment as you act in the name of the druids. Know that the power of the fragment has not been activated, but the druids know what needs to be done.

I have rested for nearly eight hundred years and until now I have not awoken from my final peace.  I don’t feel I will participate in this final battle to protect Jorvik on the dangerous day. Aideen hasn’t yet called for me.

Farewell Rita. I return now to my final rest until the moment I am called. Give Fripp my regards!

Objectives: Ride with the fragment to Elizabeth, tell her what happened, and ask her how to activate the fragment.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 25 with Keepers of Aideen

Take the fragment to Valedale, and speak with Elizabeth.

elizabeth_sunbeam

What an adventure you have been on! You spoke with Jon Jarl’s ghost! And you got the fragment. I had heard the stories but never imagined they were true! Imagine that Jon Jarl remains our protector even after his death! Good to know if things go really bad at any point…

But now we need to figure out how to activate the fragment so you can use it.

Quest completed

______________

The Lifegiving Light of the Sun

elizabeth_sunbeam

I think you can charge and activate this fragment. After all, you have proven that you have special skills… Borrow my rune staff, ride up to the rune stones in the hills by my house and put the fragment in front of the sun stone and then charge it by activating the stone with the rod.

Come back to me when you’re done. I’m sure it will work. The sun’s life giving light will give the fragment the properties we need now.

Objectives: Place the fragment by the sun’s rune stone and activate it with the rune staff.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP, Fragment of Aideen’s Light

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride up behind Elizabeth’s house, and go to the rune stone with the sun pattern on it. Place the fragment on the ground in front of the stone, the use the staff to activate the fragment. When you are done, take both back down to Elizabeth.

elizabeth_sunbeam

You see, Rita! Aideen’s mystical powers are obviously flowing strong inside you. The fragment seems to be charged and ready to go…

Quest completed

______________

Let the Light Flow

elizabeth_sunbeam

Hmm, before you head off and expose yourself to danger in Scarecrow Hill, I think you should test that it works first. Do a test here and show me, so we can see that it works. I will see how powerful the light is and can determine whether it is good enough.

Objectives: To activate the fragment, click the button above your mini map.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

-Pulls out shades- Click the button on the side of your screen, above your mini map, to activate the fragment.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Wow, it was so bright! Very strong, but a light that shines that bright burns out much faster. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will last very long, but it will be effective, I promise. Its side effects may be dangerous though…

Quest completed

______________

Protected by the Light

elizabeth_sunbeam

Well, Rita. All that remains is to hope that the light will protect you against the magic that chained the scarecrows to the borderlands between our world and the unreal.

The bad news is that the charged fragment will only last for a minute or so, I think. So you can’t activate it until you are at the gate to Scarecrow Hill. But it should be enough time to get up to the tree on top of the hill and take the apple. If there is one…

But be on your guard. When forces like these are unleashed, they can unfortunately attract vicious shadow figures. No smoke without fire. No light without shadow. The stronger the light, the sharper the shadow. We better you’re lucky and avoid that… Be careful.

Good luck now! Don’t forget to activate the fragment when you’re at the gate to Scarecrow Hill! If you get hold of the apple, ride to Alex who is still waiting for you at the Northern Iron Gate.

Objectives: Activate the fragment when you are Scarecrow Hill gate. The button is disabled until you’re there. Find a golden apple at the top of the hill.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Go to Scarecrow Hill, and once you are at the gates, you will be prompted to activate the fragment. Once activated, run to the top of the hill, obliterating any magic scarecrows along the way. When you get to the top, grab the golden apple from the tree.

self

“You found the golden apple! At the same time, the power of the fragment just ran out. You better pick the apple and hurry out of here and ride to Alex at the Northern Iron Gate.”

Quest completed

______________

Escape from Scarecrow Hill

self

“You pick the apple! At the same time, something strange happens… What’s that?! A group of flying shadow witches show up, probably sent to stop you! They have materialized in the shadow of the strong light of the fragment. They intend to take the apple from you.

Ride away from them and do not stop until you reach Alex at the Northern Iron Gate. Don’t let them catch you with their magical sleep bombs!”

Objectives: Escape the shadow witches and don’t get hit by the sleep bombs! Bring the apple to Alex at the Northern Iron Gate when you get away from them.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

This quest is hard. Have patience, as it will probably take you a couple of tries to complete it.

Watch out for the marks on the ground, indicating where the sleep bombs will land. Adjust your speed to run past the circles before the bombs hit, or slow to let the bomb hit before moving through. Once you get some distance from Scarecrow Hill, the witches will stop pursuing you and you can continue running to the North Iron Gate. Speak with Alex there.

alex

Rita! Summerblaze! You look upset! What happened? And what’s that? A golden apple! You and your wonderful Summerblaze are truly heroes!

Quest completed

______________

The Apple and the Witch

alex

What a terrible story with the witches who were chasing you. Lucky that you got away, that could have ended very badly. When such immense power like Aideen’s Light is released, sharp shadows are cast into the magical unreality. I think the shadow witches materialized in the shadow of the holy light – as a kind of counterweight… Scary.

But at least we have the apple! Now we have to see if the legend is correct and that evil witches can’t resist the apple if they’re offered it by a pure soul. Go ahead Rita, try making the witch Pi nice again so she can tell us what we want to know.

Objectives: Ride to Pi and give her the golden apple.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Go past the North Iron Gate and into the witch’s swamp. You can find her still by her house to offer her the golden apple.

witch_pi

You again! Aren’t you tired of being a frog? Okay… Then I’ll enchant you again, but this time you’ll remain a frog forever so you can hop around in my swamp croaking and signing for me in the evenings.

Abracadabra…

Huh? What? You’ve got goodies?

But what’s this? An apple? Oh no! The golden apple! The one I can’t eat! But it looks so delicious… Don’t eat! But, ooohh, it looks sooo good!

It’s probably so very good.

I have to… I… Can’t! I can’t resist it…

…No! No, Pi! Nah, I can not resist it any longer…

Boohoo!

Yum!

Quest completed

______________

The Witch is Free

nice_pi

Oh…

Thank you for giving me the apple and made me good again! It can’t have been easy. I did everything I could stop anyone from picking the apple. But what misery I have done during my time as a wicked witch! And Klaus, my poor husband! He must have missed me.

Now there is much to do to restore order… You say that there’s one thing I can tell you that will help make things right again? Okay, ask away. Giving you answers is the least I can do.

Objectives: Ask Pi about Justin’s horse and what she knows.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Get the answers you need from Pi.

nice_pi

So you’re wondering what happened to Justin’s horse and where it would go after? Well… I was going to make Justin’s horse into a Dark Rider horse. I made three such horses for Dark Core while I was a witch and this would’ve been the fourth. I was almost done, but I think I can save this poor creature from ruin…

Anyway, I would make sure that the converted horse would be delivered to the docks at Moorland’s south shore for transport to Dark Core’s headquarters, which is located on a secret oil rig somewhere out at sea.

Hm, what day is it? Okay, I would deliver the horse tomorrow, that’s right. To the dock behind Moorland Stables. That’s what was agreed.

Quest completed

______________

A Brave Plan

nice_pi

I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done and now I’ll begin the work of making things right again. I should start by helping Justin’s horse back to its normal self again. Now take care, Rita. I hope my information was helpful.

Ride to your friend Alex so you can make the necessary plans.

Thanks again for freeing me from the wicked witchcraft.

Objectives: Plan with Alex.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride back out of the swamp and meet Alex by the North Iron Gate.

alex

Wow, it worked?! She was willing to talk now?

So the plan was to deliver the new horse to a transport at Moorland’s south shore tomorrow. Probably the same dock where we saw Justin and Sabine disappear on one of Dark Core’s barges…

You or I have to get there and pretend to be the supplier of the distorted Dark Horse tomorrow and make sure to board the transport. Once we’re on the oil platform we can hopefully find out what happened to Justin and perhaps save him! Do you dare accept such a dangerous mission? Or should I and Tin-Can do it?

Quest completed

______________

Secure the Escape Route

alex

You accept the mission? You’re really brave and I don’t doubt your ability. You and Summerblaze have truly shown that you’re a bold and clever team.

It’s important that you have a safe escape route. Alone at sea on a secret oil rig that nobody knows the location of makes you quite helpless…

You know a captain who owes you a favor? Smart. Talk to him, maybe he can follow the barge from a distance and come to your rescue or take you away from there if needed. Talk to your friend Captain Brus.

I’ll do some errands meanwhile and rest up a bit. I’ll see you later at the small dock on Moorland’s south shore, just behind the stable. I’ll hide there and keep watch.

What did you say, termites? Yes, let’s hope the captain fixed the problems with the termites in the mast…

Objectives: Ask Captain Brus to help with the escape route.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride down to Cape West Fishing Village and speak with Captain Brus at his place along Longbridge.

captain_brus

Arrrh! If I’m ready to sail? Well, Rita, I’ve never been more ready than now. I got rid of the darn termites. They went biting, so to speak. The mast contains so many metal parts that they got tooth ace and gave up their destructive chewing.

Quest completed

______________

A Final Word with Alex

captain_brus

If I can help a girl in need? By all the mermaids of the sea, of course I’ll help you! I owe you and I can never say no to an adventure at sea!

I’ll follow you when the transport takes you to the secret oil rig. Here, take this distress flair. Fire it when you want me to pick you up or if you need help. I’ll pick you up at the same place where I see you board the rig.

Trust me!

Under cover of the thick backs of the morning fog, I’ll secretly hide along the southern coast of Moorland. You won’t see us, but I promise that we’ll be out there. With me at the help, you can sneak up on anyone!

Now, don’t fire your distress flare unnecessarily before it’s time…

See you tomorrow! Good luck with your mission! Now ride to your friend and make up the final details of your plan. And remember, even though you won’t see my ship, I’ll be out there, ready to rescue you.

Objectives: Make up the final details of the plan with Alex who now scouts the dock behind Moorland Stables.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride to Moorland, and meet with Alex. She’s standing in view of the beach, behind the stables, near Mrs Holdsworth’s house.

alex

Shhh… Have you seen, Rita, there’s already a creepy Dark Core guy there at the dock. He seems to be waiting for something. But… You could say that your friend Captain Brus is anything but discreet… He just arrived with lots of flare, filling up the whole bay with his ship!

I’ll stay here and ensure that you get on your way properly so I can intervene if something unexpected happens. I’ll stay here until you get back from your mission. Hope you can save Justin from his captivity! Don’t be afraid. You have Captain Brus and Summerblaze to help you!

See you tomorrow. Prepare for your adventure, be sure that you both are rested and your horse feels great.

Quest completed

Speak with the Dark Core guard tomorrow.

Let’s go work on our horseshoes again with Conrad.

Fourth Day of Blacksmithing

conrad_marsdeen

Follow my instructions carefully. Here are my tongs and hammer. Get ready!

Objectives: Use the tongs and the hammer to carry out the tasks Conrad gives you. Be careful and listen closely!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

You know the drill. Speak with Conrad when you are done with your work.

conrad_marsdeen

It is shaping up well. Now we need the iron to rest overnight. We can continue work tomorrow.

Hmm… Seems like the water bucket is nearly empty.

Quest completed

______________

More Source Water!

conrad_marsdeen

The water is running out quicker than I would have imagined. It is steaming off quickly when we are cooling the red-hot horseshoes. That shows that the new shoes are really full of energy… But without water, we can’t continue our work. Can you go back to the source of the Silversong River and collect more water? Here, take my bucket with you and use it.

Objectives: Fill Conrad’s bucket at the source of the Silversong River in Valedale. Give the water to Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

Go to Valedale and collect the water from the waterfall, then return to Conrad.

conrad_marsdeen

Great! Now we have enough water to finish our work forging your new horseshoes!

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.

Now let’s go see if the Council Man has found anything interesting about our ghost friend.

These quests cover several days, but I am putting them all together on one post.

Day 15

Jame’s Treasure Hunt

james

Heya Rita! I was surfing J-Bay the other day and made a great deal. A real treasure map! Well… at least one out of the four pieces of one. If I could only get a hold of the other three parts then I could find the treasure. I’m sure it is amazing! There were two parts up for sale but I only managed to buy one of them. Someone called “Butler_o1” bought the other one… the only thing I know about him is that he also lives on Jorvik.

If you help me find the other parts of the map I’ll split the treasure with you. What do you say? If you are up for it you should start with figuring out who “Butler_01” is and try to get his part of the map.

Objectives: Find the person who calls themself “Butler_01” on the internet. They live somewhere on Jorvik. The name must be a clue as to who they really are.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

The only butler we know is Godfrey. Let’s go talk to him about this.

godfrey

Uh, “Butler_01”? Yes, that is me. How did you know?

Quest completed

______________

A Digital Library

godfrey

I see Rita, you can absolutely have part of the map but then I want my share of the treasure. We have plans to scan in all the books in the library to make them available for everyone in the world to enjoy. Unfortunately we haven’t had the money to get it done… so this treasure would really give us exactly what we need.

Take my piece of the map and ride over to James. Let him know that I want to share of the treasure as part of the deal.

Objectives: Ride back to James and tell him what the Butler said.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Take the map back to James in Fort Pinta

james

Oh come on Rita… did you promise to give away a share of the treasure to the butler? Don’t you know how to negotiate? This is how it is done. You made the deal with the butler so you can split your share with him!

Quest completed

James is getting a little greedy now. These quests really make me not like him….

The Other Part of the Map

james

I’ve been surfing on Jorvikipedia while you were gone Rita. The map belonged to the famous American treasure hunter Mississippi Jones. He died a long time ago, but he was an adventurer who came to Jorvik a generation ago. His heirs couldn’t decide on how to split the treasure so they tore the map in four pieces and kept one piece each. I was lucky to find a lead on his daughter, California Jones. Her grave is somewhere nearby, but I’m not sure exactly where… it only says she was buried with a view of Fort Pinta… the town she loved so much.

Objectives: Find the grave of California Jones. It should be somewhere with a great view of Fort Pinta.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

The only graveyard close to Fort Pinta is in Doyle’s Abbey, though it isn’t much of a view for all the bushes.

The grave is in the northeastern corner of the Abbey.

self

“This must be the grave of California Jones…”

Quest complete

______________

Where Did the Bouquet of Flowers Come From?

self

“A bouquet of dandelions. Don’t I know someone who likes dandelions? Maybe that person can help me find the next piece of the map. I guess I should bring the bouquet of dandelions.”

Objectives: Someone has placed a bouquet of dandelions on the grave, find the person who put it there.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Mrs Holdsworth is the master of dandelions and fixing sick cows. Go speak with her in Moorland.

mrs_holdsworth

Heya Rita! Those are some nice dandelions! Yes, California Jones was my grandmother. She loved dandelions so I put a bouquet of them on her grave every year. An old part of a map? I think I might have it in a box somewhere.

Quest completed

______________

Think of the Poor Little Foals

mrs_holdsworth

Sure, you can have my part of the map. But of course you need to share the treasure you find with me. My share will be given to the Jorvik Home for Orphan Foals. All those poor little foals with no mothers… sniff…

Here is my part of the map. Make sure James knows about the deal!

Objectives: Ride back to James and tell him what Mrs Holdsworth said.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Tell James about the deal and the next piece of the map, though he won’t be happy about it.

james

What are you thinking Rita? Now Mrs Holdsworth is in on the treasure too? That is also coming out of your share! If you keep doing this there won’t be anything left for you at all!

Quest completed

Return to James tomorrow.

______________

Day 16

A Final Piece of the Map

james

I’ve been doing a bit more research on Jorvikipedia and trying to find out more about the last piece of the map. I’m pretty sure it is in Silverglade Village. Mississippi’s son Washington left everything he had to the people of Jorvik. All his possessions were taken care of by the council in Silverglade.

Objectives: Speak with the Councilman in Silverglade Village and ask about the will of Washington Jones.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

The Councilman is near town hall in the center of town. Speak to him about the last part of the map.

council_man

Ah yes… Washington Jones left everything he had to us. An old piece of a map? That must be stored in the archives.

Quest completed

______________

Archived Inheritance

council_man

The archives aren’t in Silverglade Village anymore. Which ironically is mostly because of Washington Jones. He was an avid collector of just about everything. When we went to archive his collection it filled up the entire basement of the city hall. It really wasn’t practical in the long run so everything was moved to Firgrove. Ride over there and ask my colleague there, I’m sure he will know all about it.

Objectives: Speak with the Councilman in Firgrove about the collection of Washington Jones.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride to Firgrove, and speak with Mr Franklin. He can be found at the town hall across from the stables.

mr_franklin

Good day Rita. Washington Jones collection? Yes it was stored here. But it isn’t here anymore.

Quest completed

______________

Deep in the Archives

mr_franklin

Washington Jones collection was so big we were forced to hire out a place in an old mine around here. There was a lot of unused space in that old mine. It is shut down now and there was a big spring so unfortunately I’m not sure what has happened to the collection. If you are lucky the old piece of the map might still be there. You should ride over there and have a look. Good luck!

Objectives: Find the piece of the map by the old mine outside Firgrove and ride back to the Councilman in Firgrove.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Funny how no one is really concerned precious artifacts could possibly have been destroyed in the flood.

The mine is highlighted in orange on your map, so it should be easy to find. It is down behind the sandpit, and can be seen from the road. Go to the mine and look for a bunch of wooden boxes laying on the ground. Search all of them, then return to Mr Franklin.

mr_franklin

Look at that. There we have the old piece of the map.

Quest completed

______________

Take the Last Piece of the Map to Fort Pinta

mr_franklin

That piece of the map belongs to all the people of Jorvik so I can’t just give it to you. If you want this piece then you will have to share the treasure with the people of Jorvik. We need every shilling we can get to build new roads and new stalls.

Objectives: Ride back to James and tell him what has happened.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Speak with James in Fort Pinta. Mr Greedypants surely won’t be happy though.

james

Bah… not again! That is coming out of your share again Rita. You’ll never be a good businessman…

Quest completed

Return to James tomorrow.

______________

Day 17

A Whole Map

james

Now I’ve put together the map but I still don’t understand it… Here is the map Rita, you can give finding the treasure a try. I need to take care of my customers that are here and want to spend money in Fort Pinta. I don’t have more time for looking for treasure now. Come back when you have found the treasure.

Chip!

Objectives: Follow the map to Mississippi Jones’ treasure.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

And this lazy bum wants HALF the treasure. Yet he hasn’t done squat!

mj_map

The map shows the profile view of the Fort Pinta bridge, with the X marking right next to the wall. Ride towards the bridge, and you’ll see the clue across from the stable.

mj_first_clue

self

“Hmm… this might be something. A loose stone in the wall.”

Quest completed

______________

The First Clue

writing

“HA! Did you really think it would be that easy? If you want the treasure of Mississippi Jones you are going to have to work for it! It isn’t easy, but I can’t have just any idiot finding my treasure.

The map is only the first clue. If you want to find the next clue you will need to make your way to Doyle’s Chapel. Ride there but don’t leave the path a bird would take between here and there.

-Mississippi Jones”

Objectives: Follow the clue’s directions.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

The clue references the saying “as the crow flies” which means to travel in a straight line. You don’t need to go to Doyle’s Chapel. The next clue is along that line towards the chapel though.

mj_second_clue

The next clue can be found on a little stone in the sand, off the road, between Fort Pinta and Doyle’s Chapel.

writing

“You have passed my first test. But now it will only get harder.

-Mississippi Jones”

Objectives: Follow the clue’s directions.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

The next clue is by the southern bridge crossing the Silversong River. You’ll have to go back up on the road to get to it as you cannot follow the beach all the way there.

mj_fourth_clue

The next clue is on the east edge of the river, down on the south side of the bridge. It is a little log sticking out of the sand.

writing

“Now it is beginning to get exciting! You haven’t given up have you?

-Mississippi Jones”

Objectives: Follow the clue’s directions.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

mj_sixth_clue

If you ride the U shaped road back towards Fort Pinta you’ll find the next clue at the intersection. It is on the corner of the stone fence.

writing

“The final clue is coming up. Don’t give up.

-Mississippi Jones”

-Mississippi Jones”

Objectives: Follow the clue’s directions.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

mj_old_druid_circle

The old druid circle is up on the hill between where you are and the castle. Go to the large stone in the middle for the next quest.

self

“There is no note here with a new clue. But this has to be the place that Mississippi Jones meant. That rock looks a little strange, I wonder what the runes mean…”

Quest completed

______________

The Druids Know

self

“These runes seem really old, who can help me read them? Elizabeth probably knows what they mean. I should ride to Valedale and speak with her right away.”

Objectives: Ride over and speak with Elizabeth.

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Your treasure hunt is only partway done. Ask Elizabeth for help with the runes.

elizabeth_sunbeam

The old runestone? Yes I know that one. But what the runes mean I’ve never really thought about. I’ll go over there later and have a look. Why don’t you come back tomorrow and I’ll tell you what they mean.

Quest completed

Return to Elizabeth tomorrow.

______________

Day 18

The First Stone

elizabeth_sunbeam

Now I’ve been to look at the runestone you asked me about. Fascinating really Rita. The runes tell the story of an ancient ritual that will open the mountain… whatever that means. Mississippi Jones must have figured out the ritual and hidden his treasure there. The good news is we druids learn that ritual in pre-school so I know exactly how to open it.

To open the mountain you’ll need to collect four different stones. They will be used in the ritual later. But first we need to find the stones. The first stone is red volcanic rock and you’ll find it in the mountain at the end of Everwind Fields. You need to find a way deep into the mountain to get that stone. I’m not sure how but I am sure you will figure out a way to do it. Maybe you can ask someone there to help you?

Objectives: Ride to the north part of Everwind Fields, once you are there try to find a way in to the heart of the mountain to get some red volcanic rock. Maybe you can ask someone there to help you.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

The Crew Lead on the construction site will know how to help you. Speak with him.

crew_lead

Red volcanic rock?

Quest completed

______________

Red Stones in Large Quantities

crew_lead

Red volcanic rock? I have millions of red volcanic rocks, take your pick. When we blasted out the tunnel we filled truck after truck with them. They are behind the big cliff there.

Objectives: Choose a red volcanic rock and ride back to Elizabeth.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen

To get to the rocks, go out of the construction site, and go past the hill that Mr Bucket was standing on, where one tower of the gondola lift is anchored. Go around the other side of this hill and head back in the direction of the construction site. The red rocks are on the ground. Take one of them and return to Elizabeth in Valedale.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Good Rita, that volcanic rock will be perfect.

Quest completed

______________

Earth Stone

elizabeth_sunbeam

The next rock you need to find is a kind of Earth Stone. You can usually find this kind of stone in freshly dug ground. Around the Winery there should be lots of them… it shouldn’t be hard to get one. Speak with someone at the winery.

Objectives: Ride over and speak with someone at the winery about where you can find an earth stone.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

Judy is up with all the happenings around the winery. She should know where the earth stones are.

judy

Earth Stone? We have more than we want all over the winery. The Baroness thinks they are ugly so we have cleared away all that we could find.

Quest completed

______________

At the End of the Vine

judy

Where can you find an earth stone? Hrmmm… We’ve thrown away all we could find. Maybe if you look at the edge of the fields around the winery. Good luck!

Objectives: Look around the edge of the winery fields for an earth stone.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen

They are scattered through most of the outer fields of the winery. The easiest one to get to is in the back of the winery. Cross the little bridge, and they are in the lower tier field. It is the same field that you check the soil instruments for Carney.

Return to Elizabeth when you have found one.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Have they thrown away all the earth stones? Lucky there was at least one left. Well done!

Quest completed

______________

Moss Stone

elizabeth_sunbeam

The Moss Stone you need is rare but we used to be able to find them by the Silversong River beach. Look there. It might take a while but I’m sure you will find one.

Objectives: Look around the Silversong River beach for a Moss Stone.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

I’m sure they can be found in other places along the beach, but the one I found was on the little bit of beach where the land juts into the river, south of the southern most bridge, on the Firgrove side of the river.

Return to Elizabeth when you have found one.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Was it had to find a moss stone? Well done!

Quest completed

______________

Star Stone

elizabeth_sunbeam

Star Stones can be found high up in the mountains around here. It is hard to ride up there… but wait! I have an idea! Look around the rocky outcrops by the road on the way to Valedale lake. When they were building the road I’m sure they knocked down some Star Stones and they should still be there.

Objectives: Look along the road to Valedale lake for a Star Stone.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Take the Valedale Lake road, and after the last switchback, just before you get to the top, there’s grass of to the left of the road, that you can ride on. You have to go through some bushes (take it slow so you don’t fall off the cliff, oops!) and there are some Star Stones on the ground there.

Return to Elizabeth when you have found one.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Well done! I wasn’t sure you would be able to find a Star Stone. But we can always count on you Rita!

Quest completed

______________

Runestone Secret

elizabeth_sunbeam

Now that you have all the different stones it is time to solve the riddle of the Runestone. I’m sure you understand by now that this is a puzzle. I’ not going to explain how it is done… look at this as a test. Instead I’m going to tell you the meaning of the runes and see if you can figure it out for yourself.

So, now you will be able to read what is written on the runestones. Ride over there now and good luck!

Objectives: Ride over to the druid stone and solve the puzzle with the stones.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 40 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride back to the runestone so that you can begin the puzzle.

self

“You are back at the runestone. Now we’ll see what it says…”

Quest completed

______________

Earth Colors

self

“Place the stones in order from inside to out after color, from the planet’s core and outwards.”

Objectives: Solve the puzzle with the druid stones.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 40 with Keepers of Aideen

Place the stones in order from the planet’s core and outwards (volcanic, earth, moss, star), starting with the innermost stone on the pedestal closest to the central runestone. They must be placed in that exact order on the correct pedestal. If you have trouble finding which pedestal is which, click on it, and it will tell you which stone to place on it.

“Whoa! Where the stone was… now there is a chest instead! Inside it you find  bunch of silver coins, and old statue, and a gorgeous hat. It is time to return to Fort Pinta and tell James what you found.”

Objectives: Ride back to James in Fort Pinta and show him the treasure.

Rewards: 1 Jorvik Shilling, 10 XP

Time to show our greedy little friend what we found.

james

Hahaha Rita! You did it! Now we can have a look. A bunch of silver coins… an ugly statue… an old moldy hat… I can trust you and you can absolutely trust me! You get the ugly statue and hat and I’ll take the silver coins. That seems more than fair, you get two things and I only get one. I know, you don’t need to say anything, I am too generous for my own good sometimes.

Have a great day! See you later.

Share the Treasure

Are you still here? I’ve got a bunch of important things to do right now… but maybe you should ride over to the councilman in Firgrove and share your share of the treasure with him… as we agreed before. Here, take a silver coin as a souvenir. You don’t need to thank me.

See you!

Objectives: Ride over to the councilman in Firgrove and tell him about the disappointing end to the treasure hunt.

Rewards: 500 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP, Mississippi Jones’ Hat

This is why I hate you James, sniveling little whelp…

Show Mr Franklin in Firgrove what you have found.

mr_franklin

So you found the treasure? Fantastic! What’s that? James took all the silver coins? Let’s see the coin you have. Hmmm… hehe. That is a ten-pence, worth about half a shilling. I doubt that James has even earned back what he paid for his piece of the map on those. But you got an amazing adventure, am I right?

Wait a minute… that statue… let me have a closer look at it.Wow! You know what you have found?!

An ancient statue made by the old horse tribes here on Jorvik. This is a priceless cultural artifact! This belongs to all the people of Jorvik so it needs to be displayed so everyone can see it. As an archaeological find I need to take this from you right now… but you should get your reward for finding it. I will see that the Butler and Mrs Holdsworth get their share of the reward but you definitely deserve your share. You have done Jorvik a great service Rita. Thank you! You should keep that fantastic hat. It looks great on you, I have to say.

The Journey to Valedale

alex

Ok, so this is all very interesting. What do we have? We know that Linda is locked in the castle, probably by Godfrey, ordered by the Baroness. We also know that the Baroness is extremely secretive about her former husband, John Sandman, whom she claims to be dead. This John Sandman should thus be the grandfather of Justin, and the man Justin and Sabine have gone to see. The police? Well, not yet I think, but maybe soon.

Listen, there’s someone I need you to talk to who will be able to help us. Her name is Elizabeth Sunbeam and she’s my supervisor. You’ll find her in Valedale, ever been there? Northeast of Silverglade Village you’ll find the Mill Hill Road, which later becomes the Valedale Way. Follow that up north.

Objectives: Travel to Valedale and speak to Elizabeth Sunbeam. The Mill Hill Road will take you there.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 80 with Keepers of Aideen

Elizabeth lives in a cute little cottage just north of the stable, in Valedale.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Rita, I’ve been waiting for you! How I knew you were coming? Oh, nothing mysterious about that; Alex sent me a text message. So, tell me what’s going on.

Quest completed

______________

Listen to Elizabeth

elizabeth_sunbeam

Right, I see. The Baroness seems highly involved n this, indeed, or else she would have let Linda out when you girls demanded it. At the same time there is something she is trying to hide about her past. My strong belief is that both these matters are deeply entwined. The Silverglades were a powerful family who reigned over practically all of Jorvik and to this day their members have influential positions in Jorvik Council. Silverglades are used to getting what they want. You have come upon an affair much more complicated than you ever imagined. Are you willing to continue helping us in this, Rita?

Objectives: Answer Elizabeth’s question.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 55 with Keepers of Aideen

It’s a little late to turn back now, isn’t it?

elizabeth_sunbeam

Good, we will need you. What bothers me the most is Sabine’s involvement in all this. Why that is I cannot yet tell you. What is it they want with Justin? The only way of answering that is to find out who this Mr Sandman is; he who supposedly is Justin’s grandfather.

Quest completed

______________

Elizabeth’s Test

elizabeth_sunbeam

Before you continue to Firgrove to do further research, I would like you to do something for me. It may seem strange to you now, but there is a reason to why I’m asking you to do this. You will need this… stick. Have you seen the rune stones that stand here at the hill behind the house? What you need to do is give each of these stones a minute of reflection; stand in front of it holding this artifact and watch the pattern intently. When you have done this to all of the rune stones, return to me and let me know if you felt anything… unusual.

Objectives: Take the stick, stand in front of the rune stones and concentrate on their patterns. There are four rune stones.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 90 XP, Nice Helmet

Reputation: 210 with Keepers of Aideen

Trust me, there’s a method to my madness…

The rune stones are in the first flat at the top of the hill, north of Elizabeth’s house.

When you worked all four stones, return to Elizabeth.

elizabeth_sunbeam

So, tell me what happened. They all started to glow? That’s… that’s very remarkable, Rita. It’s the first time anybody… I mean… Thank you for your participation. Will you do me a favor and please keep this to yourself? Well, you can tell Alex too, if you must, she is a member of our society – The Keepers of Aideen. That’s all you need to know for now.

______________

Welcome to Firgove

elizabeth_sunbeam

According to the registration books John Sandman grew up in Firgrove. You should ride over there and talk to the villagers; perhaps they can give you a clue on who this man really is.

There is a shortcut to Firgrove through the mountains. The pass may be a little difficult to find, but it’s located to the southeast of Valedale’s cross-country trail.

Objectives: Go to Firgrove through the mountain pass or by the Silversong Path.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP, Warm Sweater

The pass can be found by standing at the starting line of the Valedale Lake race, and going down the trail as if you were running the race. Immediately after the first bridge, as you make the turn, instead of following the race trail, there’s a trail to the right that goes up into the mountains. That is the start of the Firgrove mountain pass. You can follow the trail all the way to Firgrove.

Once you’re in Firgrove, speak with the stable girl, Felicity.

felicity

Hi! Welcome to Firgrove! We just got our cross-country riding track rebuilt and we’re all super excited. Hey, what if you tried it out? As an experienced rider you could probably give us some tips on what you think about it?What a great idea! There are also a lot of regular stable chores to do here, but I can see you’ve got other things to get to.

If you want to try the track out, just talk to Minka. She’s standing at the starting line by the sandpit where Andy has his sheep.

Quest completed

______________

Talk with the Elders

felicity

What? If there’s anyone you can talk to who has lived here for long? Well, you’ve come to the right place; Firgrove is full of old men and women that grew up here. Most of them are really nice, and they LOVE discussing the past. It can be rather annoying sometimes… But hey, that’s only my opinion!

Objectives: Ask the elders if they know of a man named John Sandman.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 60 XP

The elders are all little clones of Mrs Packard and they are standing outside their homes around Firgroves. You’ll find the real Mrs Packard has some information for you.

mrs_packard

Dear girl, I’m so happy to meet you. What is your name? Rita. What a lovely name, dear. John Sandman, you say? It does ring a bell, actually. John Sandman… My memory may not be as good as it was, but I think that John Sandman was the man I paid my rent to when I first took over this house fifty years ago. And God knows, but I wonder if I’m not paying the rent to him still.

Quest completed

______________

The Big Picture

mrs_packard

I will try to find a rent invoice for you to look at. In fact, until then you could head over to Firgrove Town Hall and ask Mr Franklin to see the picture of the village council from 1959. Now that I think about it, Mr Sandman may have been a member of the council back then.

Objectives: Ask Mr Franklin at Firgrove Town Hall if you can see the picture of the village council.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

The town hall is located in the center of town, and Mr Franklin stands right out front of it.

mr_franklin

Ha, what are the odds! There was just a strange girl here, asking that same question about John Sandman. And what’s more, when I showed her the picture she produced a pocket knife and CUT HIM OUT of the photograph! I can’t believe you youngsters. Just because you can do something with a computer does not mean you can do the same in the real world without consequences. This isn’t ones and zeros, for God’s sake – it’s fifty year old, high-quality photo paper!

If her name was Sabine? I don’t know, she didn’t tell and she was wearing a dark cloak that hid her face. She took off on the blackest horse I’ve ever seen.

Quest completed

______________

Get the Picture?

mr_franklin

Yes- she had a big, black horse and a red and black cloak. But look, she’s still over there by the gate! HEY, COME BACK HERE, YOU HOOLIGAN!

Go get the picture back for me, will you?

Objectives: Catch Sabine and take the stolen picture from her.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

Chase after Sabine like you did the first time to get the picture back.

And was that a dinosaur screech at the beginning of the cut scene?

mr_franklin

You got it back! It seems that your generation isn’t in complete decline, after all. Good work. I hope I’ll be able to restore the picture. Do you want a copy of this? I’ll make one for you.

Quest complete

______________

Collecting the Clues

mr_franklin

Here is a copy of the photograph. Mrs Packard called when you were out – apparently you have some sort of invoice to pick up in the village. Good luck with whatever your adventures may be!

Objectives: Pick up the rental invoice at Mrs Packard’s.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP, Nice Riding Pants

Ride back over to Mrs Packard to get the rental invoice.

mrs_packard

Now dear, I’ve got your invoice. See? The sender has a post office box in Silverglade Village. Does that help you in your research? Here. You can keep this invoice; it’s months old.

Quest completed

______________

Reporting to Elizabeth

mrs_packard

Good luck with your research dear. Oh, you’re off to see Elizabeth? Do tell her I said hi. She’s such a lovely girl, Elizabeth; she’s always welcome here in Firgrove.

Objectives: Show the clues to Elizabeth Sunbeam in Valedale

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 80 XP

Reputation: 65 with Keepers of Aideen

Now that you have the picture and mailing address as clues, return to Elizabeth and tell her what you’ve learned.

You can take the Firgrove mountain pass back the way you came.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Welcome back Rita. What have you found? A photo of Mr Sandman, I see. And this? This may be the number of his post office box? Good detective work!

Quest completed

______________

Only Alex Can Tell

elizabeth_sunbeam

Wait  minute, this looks like… There’s a man known as Mr Sands who looks frighteningly like the person in this picture. Mr Sands is the leader of Dark Core – an organization with an even darker agenda than that of Global Energy Domination.

Have you shown this to Alex? She would be really interested in seeing this photo – She has fought against Mr Sands before, you see, and has a deep hatred for him. Sh will be able to tell whether or not the man in this photo and Mr Sands are the same person.

Objectives: Show Alex the photo and ask her if she recognizes Mr Sands.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 25 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride back to Alex at the Manor and show her what you have found.

alex

What have you found? A picture of John Sandman? Let me see it…

Oh, God. That’s him. Mr Sands. How could I not have realized this before? I guess it just didn’t occur to me that things could be this severe. Or maybe I was just being naive… So this means that Mr Sands is Justin’s grandfather and that Justin could be in danger as we speak!

Quest completed

______________

The Letter Trap

alex

You have an idea? Good, tell me about it! Ok, so you got the address to this post office box… It belongs to Mr Sands? Really? That’s a great lead! So what’s the idea? A letter? That sounds very interesting…

Ok, so let me see if I got this straight. You’re suggesting that we send a fake letter to Mr Sands’s post office box just to make him come there and get it? Right? That’s a fantastic idea, Rita. In that way you can watch the office from a distance and when he comes, make sure that he’s actually alive and active in Jorvik. Awesome plan, really.

Wait, I actually think I have an empty envelope on me… Here it is. And viola: a pencil! The only thing I don’t have is a stamp. You could ask Judy in the stable, I bet she keeps  stack of them somewhere.

Objectives: Ask Judy the stable girl for a postage stamp.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 25 with Keepers of Aideen

Ask Judy for a stamp.

judy

Rita, what are you up to? A postage stamp? Sure I do.

Quest completed

______________

Post It

judy

Ok, here’s your stamp, let me put it on for you. There. You’ll find the mailbox right by the gates of the manor.

Objectives: Put the letter in the mailbox.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen

Take the letter to the same mailbox you did when you delivered the letter for the Baroness.

Return to Alex when you have done so.

alex

You put it on the mailbox? Great.

Quest completed

Return to Alex tomorrow.

While you’re waiting for the post, Sophie, in Valedale wants to start a new track, and needs your help.

A New Competition in Hollow Woods

sophie

Hello Rita! I haven’t had that much to do recently so I went to see my friend Minka in Firgrove. What an amazing race trail they had there! I thought that I should try and make something similar back home in Valedale, so now there is a race here too!

I think the race trail looks great but there are a couple last things to do before we can have you test it out.

First of all, there are a couple rare flowers growing right in the middle of the track. We need you to pick them up, roots and all, so we can plant them back here where they will be safe. It would be horrible if they got trampled when the track starts getting used.

Objectives: Gently pick the rare flowers that are out on the racing trail, with the roots and everything. Plant them again behind Sophie.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

The quest requires eight actions; four retrieving the plants, and four transplanting them.

The flowers are to be put in around the lightpost near Sophie.

sophie

Those look beautiful Rita! Now they are safe and I have something nice to look at too! Thank you!

Quest completed

______________

Junk in the Woods

sophie

There is one more thing we need to take care of before we try the track. It is important that it looks nice around the track, but I saw some litter around the track just yesterday. It is so sad when people don’t pick up after themselves. Ride out there and bring it to me. I’ll put it where it should go when I get back to the barn in Valedale.

Objectives: There is some litter out on the track. Please ride out and pick it up so it can be properly disposed of.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Pick up the trash, as highlighted on your minimap, and return to Sophie when you are finished.

sophie

Great Rita. I’ll throw it out in Valedale Village when I get back. Thank you very much.

Quest completed

______________

Ready to Ride

sophie

There we go! Well done Rita! Are you ready to test out the new riding trail? It is going to be great, I just know it. Good luck!

Objectives: Ride the new trail to the finish.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Race the track, and speak with Sophie when you are done.

sophie

Did you like the new race? Great! I hope more people come and try the new trail. Talk to me again if you want to ride it again.

Quest completed

You can now ride the Valedale track as a daily race.

There is one more forest creature that needs your help. He (she?) can be found perched on a rock in Hollow Woods, near where Sonja is riding around.

Gone with the Wind

birdie

Tweet, tweet? Tweet-tweet, tweet. Twe-twe-twe-twe-twe-twe. TWEET?!

Objectives: Tweet?! Twe-twe-twe-twe-twe-twe…

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 55 with Keepers of Aideen

You’re in luck, I speak Birdinese, and can translate for you…

“Birdie’s babies are missing from the nest. They are scattered around Hollow Woods and he would greatly appreciate it if you returned them to the nest.”

Paraphrased of course…

There are six babies in total. Return them to the birdhouse in the tree behind where Birdie is standing.
