Fort Pinta Administrator

Rita! Rita! I’m so happy to see you! I need help! It’s all a disaster! Complete misery!

Somebody has falsely accused me, but I didn’t do it!

Apparently being innocent doesn’t matter because the Fort Pinta administrator is on his way to give me an official warning!

It’s a conspiracy, you have to tell them that I’m an honest and generous soul who would never hurt anybody!

…

Don’t look so skeptical, Rita! I told you I’m innocent!

If you could just tell him Rita, I’m sure he’d understand! And that would be much better and cheaper for me than hiring a lawyer.

Watch out! Here comes the Administrator! Think of something nice to saw about me!

Objectives: Talk to the administrator.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Not sure what James is innocent of, but let’s tell the Administrator so.

Hrrrum hrrrrmmm.

Quest completed

______________

James is in Trouble

What’s going on here?

Hrrrum hrrrrrmmm.

You’ll have to excuse me, I have important things to discuss with young James.

…

You’re wondering what he’s done? Did you say you’re a friend of James?

You’re welcome to listen while I explain.

Objectives: Listen to what the administrator has to tell James.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Hrrrrrum hrrrrrm.

It’s a problematic situation, young James.

Recently I have been inundated with letters about your bad management of this little business of yours.

Saying that you sell bad quality goods. That you charge insane prices. That you offer no value for money.

…But that’s not what this is about.

The more serious concern is that I’ve heard that all the tourists you bring here, and the horses that you hire to them have damaged the roads around Fort Pinta.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Mr Administrator, this is all a mistake!

There’s always lots of people coming here and I’m not responsible for maintaining the roads!

What does this have to do with me?

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

You’ve worked harder than anybody else to get tourists here and it means that the fort and the roads around it are being used more.

Young James, I’ve inspected the roads myself and they are truly in a terrible state.

It’s just a matter of time before a car goes into the ditch or a horse breaks its leg.

As it is, we may need to cancel all the buses to Jorvik City and stop all races before an accident happens!

If it turns out that your business is ruining our roads and damaging our countryside, I’ll have to revoke your business license and close down your entire business.

Then you won’t be able to sell as much as a pin in Fort Pinta ever again.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I’m sorry young James, but rules are rules.

And we all have to follow the rules.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

L-LOSE MY BUSINESS LICENSE?

NOOOOOOOO!

Quest completed

______________

The Investigation Starts

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

…

Phew… Okay, I’m calm now. But what should we do???

I can’t believe that the few tourists I manage to get here could cause that much damage. I may be a business man, but I would never do anything to hurt anybody or to hurt the countryside around here.

That would be terrible for business!

You think there’s something else behind this, Rita? You’re saying that you’ll investigate it for me? Thank you, Rita, thank you!

But where should we start? I have to look after the stables and I also need to read all those letters of complaint that were sent to the administrator.

You think you should start by examining the road outside the fort?

That sounds good! You can do the easy manual work out there and I’ll handle the heavy paper work here in the fort!

Objectives: Follow the track of damaged areas on the road and investigate how bad they are.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

The trail starts just outside the fort across the bridge. Follow it up the road towards Silverglade. You find the end of the damage, strangely near a GED set up off the side of the road.

The damage to the road seems to start here. The road looks normal and undamaged further along.

Quest completed

______________

GED Turns Up Again

There’s something odd about the damage to the road.

Even if James were to hire out five hundred horses, they couldn’t have caused this much damage.

And the damage seems to stop right here, exactly where GED seems to have reappeared with a new work site.

Objectives: Talk to the worker at the GED work site.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

What could they possibly be doing now?

What are you doing here?

Get out of my sight!

Quest completed

______________

It’s Never GED’s fault!

What I’m doing here?

I’m doing important stuff for GED! And it’s none of your business!

Objectives: Ask Barney if he knows anything about what’s going on.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

As I said, I’m doing something very important here and I don’t have time to talk!

Is the road really bad? Sad to hear that, hee hee… I’m sure it would be really bad for Fort Pinta if tourists stopped coming here because the roads were so bad, and they have to let GED drill for oil next to that ugly fort instead…

…

But that’s got nothing to do with me! I’m just here to build… Ehm, important things for GED!

There is nothing suspicious here at all, so you can go away now.

…

No, there is nothing I need help with and there is no work here for somebody like you either!

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

It seems as though the man from GED is very anxious to get you away from here. Maybe someone living close by has seen something suspicious? Maybe you should talk to Barney to see if he’s seen anything?

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Hey there Rita, what can I do for you?

There’s pot holes and other damage on the Fort Pinta road? That’s not good!

Quest completed

______________

What is GED Doing Here?

You say there’s big pot holes and all kinds of trash on the road and that some administrator in Fort Pinta claims it’s because of all the tourists?

That sounds weird.

Objectives: Listen to what Barney has to say.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I walk to Fort Pinta on that road quite often and I can’t remember seeing anything that would indicate that much damage.

It sounds weird that the damage you describe would be caused by tourist buses and hired horses.

As far as I know, buses don’t tend to dig holes in the ground… And if they did, the holes would be much larger than the ones you’re talked about.

You say that GED has a site there? Yes, I’ve seen that, unfortunately. That guy turned up a few days ago with his containers, but there’s something weird going on there.

Last time I walked past he seemed to just be hanging around waiting for something. I asked him what GED was doing here, but he just shouted that he was on his coffee break.

I didn’t think you actually got any coffee breaks if you worked for GED!

I haven’t heard the sound of any machinery from there either, so what is it he’s actually working on?

I think it would be worthwhile keeping an eye on him.

GED wouldn’t come here without a reason and I think they have a few skeletons in the cupboard, as Will would say.

If only we had a clue, we might be able to figure out if he had anything to do with the damage on the road…

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Wait, I know where you can find a clue!

Quest completed

______________

Clues in a Photo Album

I know where we can find something to help us!

Steve and I often go for short walks around here to give the cows a bit of exercise, and sometimes we take photos with Steve’s camera while we’re out walking.

I’m sure we were there just a day or so ago, just when the GED guy had arrived.

If you examine that photo, it might give us a clue.

…Where the photo is? In my photo album of course! I’ve got it safely tucked away here on the farm.

Where the photo album is? I don’t actually remember. Maybe you can help me find it?

Objectives: Find Barney’s photo album.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Find the photo album in the bushes behind the silo, and bring it to Barney.

There’s my photo album! I knew I’d put it in a safe place.

Quest completed

______________

Photographic Evidence

Now let’s see, here’s the photo Steve and I  took using Steve’s new camera the day before yesterday.

I don’t see anything weird, but you’d better check it yourself.

Objective: Examine Barney’s photo.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

There are two clues to find in the image.

First clue, is the GED guy in the background, behind Barney and Steve.

There’s the GED guy! I didn’t think of him when we took the photo!

But what is he doing? It looks like he’s locking something into the container.

Second clue, is the head of lettuce on the road.

Why should I look on the road? There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong there?

Aha! You’re right, Rita, that is weird!

We took this photo only a couple of days ago and it can’t possibly be wear and tear that has caused the kind of damage you’re describing in so short a time.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

If GED has some super scary hole digging machine in the container that can dig fast without making any noise, maybe he’s behind it!

Quest completed

______________

The Hunt Goes On

But why would GED be digging holes? They usually build things.

…

But now when I think about it, there is of course another explanation.

The only things I know around here that can cause a lot of damage in a short time are chipmunks. They can dig holes in not time if they think they can find food.

But I don’t understand why they would dig holes in the middle of the road? There can’t be anything there for them to eat?

Steve usually has some chipmunks around on the farm, so it’s probably worth talking to him about it.

Most farmers put out traps to stop the chipmunks from eating the lettuce, but Steve is too goodhearted for that, so he feeds them instead.

I have to stay here and watch the potatoes grow, so it’s probably best if you ride over to Steve and ask him about it.

Objectives: Talk to Steve about the chipmunks.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride over to Steve’s farm and ask him about chipmunks.

Hey, Rita!

It’s always a good day on the farm when you come for a visit.

Quest completed

______________

Waiting to Feed a Chipmunk

Holes in the road? The chipmunks could dig holes like that in no time if they had to, but you know what Rita? I don’t think my chipmunks here on the farm would do anything like that – they like it here and they get fed.

Of course, they may have moved to another farm for a change of scenery, or maybe they’re renovating their holes ahead of the winter – and sometimes they take on a bit of extra work as mailmen, I’ve heard.

You know what, I’ll give you some lettuce that you can feed them with, and I’m sure they’ll come up and say hi if you just wait a little bit!

They’re very nice and don’t bite at all, so try feeding them to see if they’re there.

Objectives: Feed the chipmunks with Steve’s lettuce.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

After you place the lettuce down, you wait for a long time, but no chipmunks appear. This is strange…

You didn’t see a single chipmunk? Are you sure you waited long enough?

That’s sad. Where could they have gone?

Quest completed

______________

A Trail of Lettuce

It’s a shame that the chipmunks have gone. They were a nice addition to the farm.

You say you want to find them, Rita?

If you find that kind of thing fun, by all means, see if you can find them, but you don’t have to force them to come back here if they’ve found somewhere nice to live.

If you start looking by the holes where they live, maybe you and Summerblaze can find a trail together!

Objectives: Follow the trail and find out where the chipmunks have gone.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

You find a piece of lettuce on the ground near the chipmunk holes. You notice another piece farther on, leading a trail all the way back towards the damaged road.

Chipmunks all over the road!

Quest completed

______________

Two Coincidences is a Conclusion

The chipmunks have dug holes all over the road, and somebody brought them here on purpose. Maybe it’s time to confront the GED work site again.

Objectives: Talk to the GED worker again.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

We’re on to him….

You’re back again?

…

Chipmunks? Don’t be silly, there are no chipmunks here!

Quest completed

______________

Sneak in to Investigate

There are no chipmunks on the road, and if there were it wouldn’t be anything to do with me.

And by the way, I hate chipmunks! They’re so ugly!

Now I have to… Ehm… Work! With non-chipmunk related jobs! If I see you here again, I’ll kick you out!

Objectives: Find something you can lure the GED worker away with.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Your plan of distraction involves getting past the worker to be behind the metal containers. Go past the stone wall nearby, and jump over it. Going any closer gets you thrown out by the worker.

You could maybe use this trash to distract the GED worker.

Quest completed

______________

A Breaking Distraction

If I throw one of these bottles as far as I can, he might go to investigate the noise. That will give me some time to look around the site, but I have to be quick!

Objectives: Use a bottle from the pile of trash to lure the GED worker away and then peek into the container.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Your plan works. He takes off running to investigate the noise and you get a chance to peek inside the containers. One if filled with chipmunks. The other is full of heads of lettuce. Coincidence? I think not!

W-what? You’re still here? I hope you haven’t looked in any of the containers? Which are obviously both empty!

Quest completed

______________

Car Chase in Silverglade

Those containers just contain work stuff. There’s nothing weird about that.

You’ve seen that there are chipmunks locked away here? I-I see, that’s odd. It obviously can’t be anything to do with… Ehm… Me.

I will of course… Ehm… Let them out immediately. I’ll just get the keys to the container which is… Ehm… Over here in the car.

Objectives: Catch the GED worker before he has time to run away.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 70 XP, 250 Horse XP

The worker jumps in his car and speeds off, hoping to escape. Complete the race to chase him down. Beware of barrels he jettisons out from behind the car. He gets close to the fort and the car wipes out on a puddle of oil and crashes into a stone wall, leaving him dazed outside the car.

Ugh… I hate chipmunks and their hole digging!

Quest completed

______________

Set the Chipmunks Free

This was a stupid plan from the start… Catch chipmunks from all over Jorvik to sabotage the road so that nobody could blame GED… I’d better run before I’m arrested!

Grrr… I assume I won’t get out of here without giving you the key. Bah! Take it! As long as I don’t have to see you or a chipmunk ever again! It landed over here somewhere when the car crashed.

Objectives: Find the key for the container and release the chipmunks.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Pick up the key and return to the container. Release the chipmunks and take one with you for evidence.

The released chipmunks happily jump onto the grass.

Quest completed

______________

Good News, At Last

This chipmunk seems calm and friendly. If it goes with you to Fort Pinta you can use it to prove James is innocent.

Objectives: Return to James and show him the chipmunk.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

James will be relieved to see you.

Rita! Have you found anything? Hurry up and tell the administrator!

We can’t lose even a second!

Quest completed

______________

Conclusive Evidence

Hrrrrum hrrrrrrmm.

Do you have any new information for us?

Objectives: Prove to the administrator that James is innocent.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Hrrrrrrm…. What have you got to say?

About the damage to the road…

What are the damages?

They’re not caused by horses or buses.

Then what is behind it?

Chipmunks!

Chipmunks? Do you have any proof?

(Show the chipmunk.)

A chipmunk! And GED was involved? It’s obvious now that young James didn’t have anything to do with this.

That’s right.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Hrrrrm, so it was the man from GED who was behind it all, and I blamed young James like an old fool.

Quest completed

______________

Apologies to Young James

Hrrrm. So GED wanted to destroy the road and blame everything on James? Now I’m starting to understand. A while back, I got a letter from GED saying they wanted to drill resources around Fort Pinta. Obviously I said no, it would ruin the environment and scare away the tourists.

Now when I thought we would have to prohibit tourists I was thinking of saying yes to GED instead!

I’m sure that’s what they planned all along. Hrrrm.

I have to start preparations for the road repairs and bringing all those chipmunks home again immediately.

Rita, you have saved Fort Pinta and prevented me from committing a big mistake. Would you give James my sincere apologies?

Objectives: Tell James that the administrator apologizes.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Give James the good news.

Were you able to prove that I was innocent?

Quest completed

______________

A Thank You From James

So GED is trying to sabotage things for me?

They don’t know what they’re getting themselves into! If they want to try to get me, I’ll sue them for everything they have!

But that will have to be some other time, right now I have to make sure I take care of all the tourists that have been frightened by all the talk of damaged roads.

But I’m sure it will be alright… I can arrange for guided tours where you can see actual live chipmunks instead, I’m sure the tourists will love it! I can sell loads of t-shirts with chipmunks printed on them, and the chipmunk cuddly toys – then I’m sure I can make loads of money from this disaster!

Rita, I am eternally grateful!

Objectives: Talk to James about a reward.

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 70 XP, Chipmunk T-shirt

Now that is resolved…

A reward? We have defeated GED’s evil plans once again, is that not reward enough?

You know what, Rita, I’ve heard that these pretty t-shirts with chipmunks printed on them will be very popular in Fort Pinta, and as you’ve helped me so much, I’ll give you your first chipmunk t-shirt for half price!

Of course I’m joking, you know that don’t you, Rita? Obviously I’ll give you the t-shirt for free as you helped me resolve this disaster.

You don’t need to thank me, you’ve already done so much for me and Fort Pinta!

Has the fort come crashing down??

Why did it take you so long to get here? It’s all falling apart here — or at least it’s the beginning of the end for my business — and you just waltz in slower than a sloth!

No tips for you Rita.

Quest completed

______________

The South Hoof Lighthouse Goes Dark…

james

Nightmare, Rita You’ve gotta help me!

What’s happened, you ask?

The lighthouse on the South Hoof Peninsula has gone out! It’s a complete disaster! No tourist ships dare come close to Fort Pinta if the lighthouse isn’t there to guide them, and if there are no tourists then I don’t make money! This is so dreadful for me…

If I shouldn’t just call the lighthouse keeper and ask what’s going on? Do you think I’m stupid? Of course I’ve done that already. I’ve called loads of times but there’s no answer. Something must’ve happened.

You’ll help me though, right Rita? You will?! Sweet!

I’ve had an idea. A while back, I bought a pair of really nice, cozy little boats that I thought about hiring out to the tourists. For some reason though, nobody’s ever hired them out which I think is weird because going out on a boat is super fun! So I’ve been told. But anyway, you can borrow one so you can sail over to South Hoof. What do you think Rita?

Why I don’t just go myself?

Umm, I’m… Umm… Allergic to water. Exactly, yeah. That’s it. So unfortunately I can’t go. The boat is down there between the pier and the beach. Good luck!

Objectives: Ride down to James’ boat which is moored to a jetty between the pier and the beach.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Well, this boat isn’t exactly sea-worthy… Return to James to report the boat’s condition.

james

Have you already been to South Hoof? You haven’t?!

The boat was broken, you say? That’s ridiculous! I paid TEN Jorvik Shillings each for those boats. Maybe there’s a hole or two in the bottom, but they’re just there to keep you cool while you’re out on the water. Like air conditioning in a car.

Why do you look so suspicious, Rita?

Quest completed

______________

Another Boat to Borrow

james

Okay, okay. The boat might not be in top condition, but I have another. I rented it out to the Guard at the disco, so he could practice landing maneuvers at the beach or something. You can go and ask him if you can borrow that one instead?

Objectives: Ask the Guard at the disco if you can borrow his boat.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Let’s hope this boat is in better shape…

security

ATTENTION!

Rita, how can I be of assistance to you on this day?

Quest completed

______________

Operation Iron Cockroach

security

WHAT ON EARTH?! You want to borrow a boat from me?

Aha! You mean the landing craft I borrowed in order to rehearse crucial beach storming maneuvers? Operation Iron Cockroach as I call it…

Grrr… There’s not much boat to borrow unfortunately. My beach landing rehearsals became a little too realistic, even for me.

No time to waste though, I realize you’re on an important mission Rita! So I hereby submit my report of Operation Iron Cockroach: The time was 04:07 yesterday morning as I was out at sea off Fort Pinta carefully and silently approaching the beach. Just next to the diving board I saw a guard post! The element of surprise was lost and my position uncovered, so I went full speed ahead to get to the shore before the enemy had a chance to react!

Suddenly, I heard a huge explosion. A mine, I thought, so I threw myself straight into the water! I then realized that the fuel tank on the landing craft had exploded, so I swam to land and retreated to the fort. The enemy guard revealed himself in better light to actually be a particularly suspicious-looking bush, so no actual danger was present and I gave myself the order to stop the exercise.

How it went with the boat? Oh, I’ve got no idea. I haven’t had a chance to run recon over the terrain yet, since I’ve got light bulbs to change and the disco ball to polish first.

Hmm… During my retreat, I saw Elin running towards me. She’s the lifeguard down on the beach below Fort Pinta.

Suppose you could ask her if she saw what happened to the boat…?

Objectives: Ask lifeguard Elin about the Guard’s boating accident by the beach.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Elin can be found standing in the middle of the diving board circling the beach swimming area.

elin

Lovely day today, wouldn’t you say? Hi, my name’s Elin and I’m the lifeguard here at the beach. What’s your name?

Quest completed

______________

Whatever Ends Up in the Water…

elin

The Guard’s accident? I knew it was him sneaking away through the bushes! He looked pretty baffled…

If I saw what happened to his boat? Yeah, I ran here when I heard the explosion so I didn’t see the actual accident but whatever ends up in the water here usually drifts ashore along the foreland which crops out over past the bathing area. If his boat didn’t sink, it’s pretty sure to have ended up there.

If you find the boat, you could come and let me know since I need to be sure it won’t be dangerous for the people who come swimming here.

Objectives: Look for the missing boat along the outcrop of land past the bathing spot.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Inspect the wrecked boat washed up on the beach and return to Elin.

elin

Did you find the boat? Bits of it, you say… Hmm. Why are you so interested in a wonky old boat like that anyway?

Oh, you need a boat to get to South Hoof? And James’ other boats are in pretty much the same shape? Hmm, maybe there’s a chance you can repair the boat with the parts you find here? Worth a try, right? It’s pretty quiet here right now so I can help you if you’d like?

Quest completed

______________

One Man’s Wreck is Another Man’s Boat!

elin

If the other boat is also broken, you’ll probably need to fix that as well. Maybe there’s some stuff from the wreck you can use for that?

I’ll go and take a look at your boat while you look for parts here on the beach that you can use. What do you say?

Nice. Have a look along the little peninsula where you found the wreck. Everything that sunk has probably washed ashore there… See you in a while by the pier where your boat is!

Objectives: Look for and collect parts of the wrecked boat along the outcrop of land past the bathing spot. When you’re done, talk to Elin. She’s waiting on the pier where James’ boat is.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Clean the beach of boat parts and return to Elin.

elin

Hi again! Looks like you found loads of useful stuff, we’ll definitely be able to make use of this.

Quest completed

______________

Fishing for an Engine

elin

Well Rita, I don’t see there being any problems with sealing the hull of your boat with the parts we have here. We just need to get hold of some kind of glue or sealant to hold it all together.

The engine, on the other hand, is a different story. You’ll need to find the wreck’s engine if you’re going to have any chance of fixing it.

You didn’t see an engine on the shore, you say?

I guess it sank when the fuel tank exploded on the Guard’s boat. It’s probably on the seabed out by the diving board at the bathing spot. Have a look there and see if you can’t salvage it. Here’s the anchor from the boat, perhaps you could use it as a kind of fishing hook to fish up the engine? Hehe!

Use the rope to fish out the engine. Come back once you’ve found it, and I’ll see if I can find a way to use these parts you found in the meantime.

Objectives: Salvage the engine from the water outside Fort Pinta Beach.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Leave your horse on the beach and go on foot up onto the diving board to be able to fish for the engine. Once you have hauled it up, return to Elin.

elin

Nice work! Now we’ll have enough spare parts and then some!

Quest completed

______________

A Thin Sealant

elin

I reckon I should be able to get the engine going for you Rita. I was a mechanic at the Jorvik City scrapyard before I became a lifeguard here. I hardly ever saw the sunshine at that scrapyard, so changing career was pretty much the best decision I ever made!

Anyway, I saw a barrel of sealant further down the pier, that should do the trick for sealing up the hull. It should’ve been delivered to my friend Donald the Builder in Jarlaheim but it’s been sitting there for weeks now so I guess the ferry captain must’ve forgotten about it. Would you ride over and get it? I’ll text Donald and ask him if it’s okay if we use it. He’ll say yes, so ride over and grab it now!

Objectives: Fetch the barrel of sealant on the pier and ride back to Elin.

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

The barrel is tiny and set on the pier by the blue/green ferry station. Return to Elin with the barrel.

elin

Exactly, that’s the barrel I was talking about.

Oh, speak of the devil, a text from Donald… He writes that we should just take as much sealant as we need and that if there’s something there’s never a shortage of, it’s sealant. Sounds good Rita, Donald usually knows what he’s talking about.

Quest completed

______________

Seal the Boat!

elin

Now you just need to use the sealant to seal the hull of the boat. With the parts from the wreck you found earlier, you shouldn’t have any problems making it watertight.

I’ll wait here, just ask if you need anything!

Objectives: Seal the hull of the boat and then talk to Elin.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Dismount your horse and use the sealant to fix up the boat into tip-top shape!

elin

Great! That hull isn’t gonna let a drop of water into it now!

Quest completed

______________

Dip Interrupted

elin

Well well, I’m sure we’ll get some speed out of this engine eventually! I’ve got some tools you can borrow, but maybe could you do me a favor in return?

Yesterday night, I took a quick little dip down by the pier on the other side of Fort Pinta. It was pretty late, around the same time the Guard was out on his little adventure in the boat. When I heard the explosion, I ran outta there, I didn’t grab shoes or anything and got to the beach as quick as I could. I ended up leaving more than just my shoes! All my clothes are still over there… Do you think you could go grab for me?

Thanks Rita!

Objectives: Find the clothes that Elin left behind on the other side of the Fort Pinta.

Reputation: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Out skinny dippin’ huh? I got ya fam.

Ride over to the small huts on the other side of the stone bridge and find Elin’s clothes. Return to her when you have found them all.

elin

Oh, thanks Rita! They’re my favorite clothes so I was a bit worried they might have gone missing!

Quest completed

______________

Boat Engine Repairs

elin

Here are my tools Rita. I haven’t really used them in the time since I left the scrapyard in Jorvik City, but they’re still in good condition as I’m sure you’ll notice!

You know how to repair an engine, right? Haha, of course, sorry I even asked!

Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

Objectives: Repair the engine, then talk to Elin.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Dismount your horse to repair the engine with Elin’s tools. Speak to her when you are finished.

elin

You’re not a bad mechanic! You could get a job at the scrapyard if you wanted… The engine looks like it was delivered straight from the factory!

Quest completed

______________

No Boat Without Fuel!

elin

There we go Rita! Now your boat is as good as new! All you need now is to fill the tank with fuel so you can sail away.

Fuel?

You didn’t get any fuel from James? Haha, well without fuel you won’t be getting very far. Probably best you ride to him ask him for some.

I need to get back to lifeguarding the beach now, but it was really nice to meet you! Nice to be able to use my old skills again as well, that doesn’t happen much anymore haha!

Good luck over at South Hoof, see you around!

Hmm. Fuel is so expensive… You sure it’s necessary? Can’t you row?

Quest completed

______________

Free Fuel is the Best Fuel!

james

Okay, okay, I get it… If the lighthouse doesn’t light back up again it’ll be a disaster for my businesses… I don’t have much in the way of cash flow right now Rita, so maybe you’ve got a good idea of where you could get hold of some cheap fuel…

Steve? He’s got a huge fuel tank you say? Do you think you could get some from him? Great idea Rita! That way, it’ll be free!

Quick! Ride over to Steve and get some fuel, no time to waste!

Hello there, by the way! Who are you?

Rita. Nice to meet you, my name’s Holly. Just got back from a surf session on the other side of South Hoof. This time of year I don’t think you’d be able to find better waves anywhere in the world!

Hey by the way, have you seen Erik, my husband? You haven’t?

Madison? She’s my daughter…

You haven’t seen her either? You haven’t seen another living soul at all?!

Very strange… They must be around here somewhere. Let’s take a look around the garden together and I’m sure we’ll find someone.

Objectives: Look around the garden and try to find some more people.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Weird… Now I’m starting to worry.

Quest completed

A Darkened Lighthouse

holly

Everyone’s disappeared… This is pretty weird…

What are you doing here, by the way Rita?

The lighthouse isn’t working?!

What?!

Something must have happened while I was away. I’ve never seen the lighthouse go dark and my whole family have just vanished… Something must have happened!

Quick, we’re gonna have to get to the lighthouse fast! Maybe they’re there… Follow me, Rita!

Objectives: Follow Holly to the South Hoof Lighthouse.

Hmm… Sigrid, the lighthouse keeper, has a spare key hidden around here somewhere. I just can’t be sure where it is… Where on earth is it?!

You think we should split up so that we can look faster? Great idea!

Quick, we need to find it!

Search around for the key. When you have found it, return to Holly.

Objectives: Unlock the door to the lighthouse.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Dismount your horse and enter the lighthouse. You look around until you see some people standing on the beach of the island across from the lighthouse. Once you leave the lighthouse, tell Holly what you saw.

holly

They’re alive! Thank goodness.

Did you see them Rita? Yeah, me too!

That’s the whole family. Sigrid, Jonas, Erik, and Madison.

But… How did they manage to get stranded at Cape Sorrow?

Quest completed

______________

Shipwrecked at Cape Sorrow

holly

I don’t know how they’ve managed to get themselves stuck at Cape Sorrow, Rita, but we need to rescue them. They must’ve been there at least a day, and I couldn’t see any food, camping gear, or anything… They must be freezing and hungry! And poor little Madison, I hope she’s okay…

You’ve got a horse Rita, can I sit behind you while you ride?

Great! Ride down to the beach below the lighthouse Rita, it’s opposite Cape Sorrow. You’ll need to take the path going past the ferry landing since there’s no way to get down the cliffs from here.

Come on Rita, let’s save my family!

Objectives: Ride to the beach beneath the lighthouse.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride back along the path to the farm and down to the ferry landing. Then turn and ride onto the beach below the cliffs, and all the way back down to Cape Sorrow via the beach.

holly

HELLLOOOOO!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME??!!

Sigh. The wind is too strong Rita, they can’t hear me when I yell. I think they’ve seen us though, and they seem to be alright, don’t they? Madison looks like she’s in good shape…

Wait. Can you see Jonas? He looks rather weak… I hope he’s not injured…

Quest completed

______________

Boat Rescue!

holly

How are we gonna get to Cape Sorrow, Rita?! I can’t see Jonas’ fishing boat or our little motorboat anywhere…

I’d try to get there on my surfboard, but that’d just get swept out to sea or smash up against the cliffs. Could be worth a try anyway, right? What do you think Rita? I suppose we don’t have any other choice?

You’ve got a boat, you say? Of course you have, how else would you have got here?

Hurry and bring it here. I’ll wait here and try to come up with a plan in the meantime.

holly

Nice boat Rita, but are you sure it’s seaworthy? It looks to be in pretty lousy shape…

Quest completed

______________

Set Sail for Sorrow

holly

Rita, I think it’s best if you take the boat to Cape Sorrow yourself. The more space you have in the boat, the fewer trips you’ll need to make to pick everyone up.

Just take it easy, okay? The waters around Cape Sorrow are full of really strong currents and dangerous ground. Plenty of ships and boats have met their end at the Cape, and I really don’t want you to join them.

Good luck!

Objectives: Sail your boat to Cape Sorrow.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Set Cape Sorrow as your destination and speak to Sigrid when you land.

sigrid

Hello there. I’m Sigrid, South Hoof’s lighthouse keeper. Might I ask who you are?

Rita. Delightful.

You’re here to save us, you say? I saw you on your way here and you’re a decent navigator but is your boat really seaworthy?

Quest completed

______________

Unlucky Twice at Sea

sigrid

How we’re feeling, you ask?

Considering the circumstances, everyone is doing rather well. Except for my husband, Jonas. He says he’s fine, but I know he’s just trying not to worry me.

He was in the water long after the boat went down, and he gave all the dry clothes he managed to save to Madison so that she wouldn’t freeze. His temperature was right down, and even though he’s stronger than a walrus, he might…

…What happened, you ask? Well, Jonas had taken Madison out on a fishing trip, but when they were on their way home Jonas steered a little too close to Cape Sorrow. He knows how dangerous the water is here, but he wanted to show Madison one of his favorite cliffs out this way. It was pretty stupid of him, but he meant well, as he always does. The fishing boat ran aground and sank almost immediately, but Jonas managed to swim ashore with Madison. I saw what happened from up in the lighthouse, so I ran down to the farm and got Erik.

Together we took our boat and got to Cape Sorrow as quickly as we could, but sadly, Erik also managed to run aground. Jonas had to throw himself into the water again to save us. He got us up onto the shore, but I think it was too much, even for my lovely, brave husband.

I don’t think there’s any danger to my Jonas, but maybe could you take a look at him?

Objectives: Talk to Jonas and see how he is.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

He’s pretty badly chilled…

sigrid

How does Jonas seem to you Rita, how’s he feeling? He says everything is fine?

He said so to me as well… Do you believe him?

No? Hmm, I don’t either, he doesn’t want to worry me so he’s just saying he feels okay.

You think he’s quite seriously sick? Oh, no…

Quest completed

______________

Get Jonas to South Hoof!

sigrid

Rita, take Jonas back to Holly right away. The rest of us can cope here for a little while longer, don’t worry.

Ask Holly to take Jonas up to the farm, she needs to make sure he’s warm and gets plenty of rest.

Hurry now!

Objectives: Take Jonas back to South Hoof.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Sigrid asked me to take him straight back to the farm, you say? Absolutely, we’ll get up there as fast as we can.

sigrid

Erik! Madison! Hurry home now, go at once! You need to get warm and have some food. Hurry along now!

Rita, I give you my thanks. If it wasn’t for you, I’m not sure we would have made it, if I’m honest.

Quest completed

I’m so worried about my husband, Rita.. Imagine if he’s seriously ill? I need to hurry back to the farm.

Jonas seems to be feeling better already Rita. Some food and heat seem to have done the trick, but now we’ll just have to keep an eye on him in the future… No more adventures at sea!

Rita, my Jonas tells me he would love to thank you in person. Go talk to him, but not for too long.. He needs his rest.

Objectives: Talk to Jonas.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Feeling better there, sir?

jonas

Hello there Rita. That was your name, wasn’t it? It’s a lovely name if you don’t mind me saying so.

Yaawwwwnnnnn!

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m incredibly tired. Quite enough adventure for one day, wouldn’t you say? Maybe we can talk a little more tomorrow. Does that sound good Rita?

See you in the morning. Yaaawwwwn!

Who Recognizes Valiant?

marley2

Howdy Rita!

I’ve not slept a wink, I just lay there thinking about Butterfly and the Baroness.

Yawn.

I’m sorry Rita, but nobody’s been in touch about Valiant yet. Could you go to Silverglade Village and ask around if anyone’s heard or seen anything?

Thanks!

Objectives: Ask around Silverglade Village if anyone recognizes Valiant.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Ride to Silverglade and use the photo of Valiant on any of the residents. They will all say that they don’t recognize the horse but direct you to Steve, as he knows a lot about horses. Visit Steve at his farm to see if he knows Valiant.

steve

Hey there! I recognize this horse! No idea what the poor thing is called, I don’t think he ever had a name, but I know his owner.

Quest completed

______________

Poor Horsey!

steve

I can’t remember what the owner’s name is, it’s been forever since I last saw him. Not a nice guy. If you can stay away from him, it’s best to do so.

How he looks?

Hmm…

Let me think a second…

Last time I saw him he was pretty well built and had a brown mustache, but that was years ago.

Sigh. You really shouldn’t go looking for that guy, he’s really evil and it wouldn’t surprise me if he beat and abused the poor horsey…

Where’s the horse now?

With Marley? Whew, that’s a relief. Then the poor thing can get the chance to recover. I recommend he stays with Marley or some place else nice if he’s ever going to feel good again.

You should tell Marley this. The horse sounds like it’s in too bad condition to train…

Objective: Ride over and tell Marley what you found out.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Return to Marley and tell him what you learned from Steve.

marley2

Did Steve recognize Valiant? What could he tell you?

Quest completed

______________

Valiant the Packhorse

marley2

Oh…

The poor thing…

That didn’t sound too good. Poor old Valiant… I can’t believe people would do that! Gosh!

Hmm…

It’s not all strange that we can’t Valiant to jump or ride the barrel race, most things must frighten him… I wonder if he’s even ridden a jump track before?

We can’t send him back to whoever treated him like this, but I can’t know for sure if he’ll feel too good about living here with me, I’m not sure he’d enjoy dealing with all the visitors I get all the time. I’ll ask the Baroness if she’d like to have him at her yard instead.

…

Speaking of the Baroness… I need to talk to her today. Time to tell her about Butterfly…

Would you come with me Rita? I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it myself.

Thanks so much! I have a few things that need taking up to the Winery, so it’s probably just as well to take them with us at the same time, so I get to skip riding back again later. Not sure if I’ll be able to look the Baroness in the eye after this.

Can you help me load up the goods we’re taking onto Valiant. I’m way too nervous to do it myself.

Objectives: Load up Valiant, then talk to Marley.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Pick up the crates near the house, then place them from your inventory onto Valiant’s back, then speak to Marley when Valiant is ready to go.

marley2

Wow! You managed to load up Valiant with all the stuff we’re taking with us without any trouble. I’m impressed! You’ve really done a great job with him.

Quest completed

______________

Towards the Winery with a Heavy Load

marley2

Right then, I guess it’s time. Time to ride to the Winery. Sigh.

I really don’t want to do this, but I’ve got no choice. I need to tell the Baroness, it’s no use trying to put it off any longer. Thanks for coming with me.

Would you be able to take the last bit of the delivery on your horse’s back?

Thanks! We can just drop everything off with Carney. I’ll ride ahead and see you at the Winery.

Objectives: Take the shipment on Summerblaze to the Winery and leave it with Carney.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Pick up the second stack of crates and ride to the Winery. If you can, you can ride alongside Marley, but I got stuck and he left me behind. However you get there, meet Marley near his brother at the stable, and drop the crates nearby.

carney

Ah, you managed to get Marley here with you? Hmph, I never thought that coward would show his face up here after he lost the Baroness’ horse.

Quest completed

______________

What Can a Car Tell Us?

carney

Marley and I need to talk in private for a moment…

By the way, Mr Anwir is here now. You know, the guy who helped me with transporting Butterfly down to Marley just so he could go and lose him. That’s his car over there, the purple one. You were interested in talking to him, you said. Why not take the chance now, and you’ll see what an honorable guy he is.

You can check if he’s sitting in his car, otherwise you’ll have to wait until he gets back.

Objectives: Check if Mr Anwir is sitting in his car.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Investigate the purple car that is parked near the Manor building, facing towards the front gate.

self

Seems as though there’s nobody by the car and you decide to look in through the window. Wait, what’s that? Looks like a can of paint…? Horse papers in the back seat?! The horse on the papers seems a lot like Butterfly…

You wonder if you should open the car door, and just as you reach for the door handle, you hear footsteps behind you…

Quest completed

______________

Meet Mr Anwir

mr_anwir

And who do we have here, snooping around my car?

Oh I see, not snooping, eh? No of course, well we’ll stick to that story then, shall we?

Yes, that’s right, my colleague Carl and I took a horse from here down to Marley Summer’s yard.

Umm, what are you implying? That the horse was swapped? Who’d do something like that? You don’t think it’s just that Marley who’s dippy enough to have mixed up the horses himself? According to his brother, he’s as dizzy as the day is long, and would lose his own head if it wasn’t screwed on…

Haha, probably a little exaggeration but that’s what Carney says…

Sorry, but I can’t help you. I hope you find the horse soon, but now I’ve got to get back to work. Lots to do before our boat comes to fetch us this evening.

Carl and I travel rather a lot. We usually set up camp down by the water, which is nice and practical, and plenty easy to get around. Easier to travel over water than over land if you ask me.

But yeah, anyway, good luck. I know it doesn’t help much, but here, take a few of these delicious clementines. Carl bough them even though I quite clearly asked for mandarins, the stupi– I mean, umm, they’re easy to mix up, I suppose. Haha. Ha.

Objectives: Talk to Mr Anwir.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP, 3 clementine oranges

There’s definitely something fishy about this guy…

mr_anwir

Here you go. Good luck with the horse.

Quest completed

______________

Time to Stop a Telling-Off

mr_anwir

Are you still here? I’m sorry that your horse has gone but I’ve already told you I don’t know anything about it.

Instead of hanging around here, you should check how things are going for your friend Marley, looks like he’s getting a proper telling-off over there. Carl and I have work to do.

Objectives: Talk to Marley.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride to Marley’s rescue. Poor man just can’t get a break.

marley2

Ugh. Carney’s really angry at me, and Valiant’s started acting out. I don’t know what the problem could be. Maybe he’s not too crazy about that purple car?

Quest completed

______________

Valiant’s Help

marley2

What’s up with Valiant? He was so relaxed earlier, but now he’s back to being as nervous as he was to begin with. Ever since I said hello to Carl or whatever his name is, the guy who helped Mr Anwir deliver Valiant…

What’s that? You think Carl is Valiant’s old owner? Hmm… The description Steve gave certainly fits…

Easy, Valiant, eeeeeasy boy… Shhh.

You saw black paint in the car?! And papers for a horse like Butterfly? Oh my… This isn’t good. We don’t have any proof though…

Eeeeeeasy Valiant!

Oh no! He’s bolted again!

Valiant! Come back! Oh gosh, he’s run off!

What does he want?

You think he wants to show us something?

Follow him quick Rita! I’ll try and keep Carly and Mr Anwir distracted while you’re gone. Hurry!

Objectives: Follow Valiant and be careful not to lose him.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Follow Valiant urgently, keep up with him and don’t lose sight of him. Find out what he wants to show you.

Valiant has led you to a camp, maybe it’s Mr Anwir and Carl’s?

You remember Mr Anwir said that he’d set up camp by the water. If you take a look around, you’ll surely find something that can help you connect Mr Anwir to the theft of Butterfly.

Objectives: Investigate Carl and Mr Anwir’s camp.

Take a look at the horse in the small paddock. Could this be what we were looking for…?

The color matches, the black markings match… Might this horse be Butterfly?

You feel along the horse’s back right leg, and just as you suspected, this really is the real Butterfly.

Butterfly goes up to Valiant right away and even though the horses have never met before, it seems as though they’re already best friends.

Butterfly follows Valiant, who leads him back to Marley’s farmyard. You don’t need to worry about the horses anymore.

You’ve found enough evidence to connect Mr Anwir and Carl to the theft of Butterfly. Ride and warn Marley and Carney up at the Winery, before Mr Anwir and Carl can get away.

Objectives: Ride back to the Winery and warn Marley and Carney.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

What do you think you’re gonna do? I don’t see any police or anyone else around here… It’s just us… Us and your two stupid horses. What are they gonna do to help you, huh?

The horse we swapped out with Butterfly is totally worthless, we’ve never seen a worse horse. That loser is too cowardly and weak to be able to do a thing about anything. Your stupid horse doesn’t seem much better, haha!

I haven’t got time for little nobodies like you, you idiot. Carl, take care of this little pest and her dumb horses. I’d prefer not to have the cops after me just because some snot-nosed little girl pokes around in things that don’t concern her.

Me and Carney can take over here. Could you ride to the Baroness and tell her that everything’s worked out alright? She’ll be very happy to hear you’ve not only saved Butterfly but also stopped the criminals!

Anyway, enough about them. Marley told me about Valiant and we’ve decided that he can live here at my stables. I’m sure he’ll love it here with Butterfly.

All credit goes to you Rita! You saved Butterfly, and did all those wonderful things for Valiant!

an inconsolable clockmaker, an unbelievably unbelievable job, an unexpected anticlimax, back to the clockmaker with the diesel oil, big bonny, conrad marsdeen, council man, give the council man the fantastic news, journey to the heart of garnok, master clockmaker's apprentice, oiling up the mechanisms, steve, the blacksmith's toughest job, tools for repair, tools need to be repaired, topping up the oil

Speak to Big Bonny — er, Herman — by her house in Silverglade, to see how you can help her fix the clock.

Tools for Repair

big_bonny

Hello Rita.

Now. I’ve been up into the clock tower and taken a little look at the machinery. It’s possible to fix it, in fact for a champion such as myself, nothing is impossible. But just because it’s possible doesn’t mean it’s easy. There’s just one tiny little snag…

When I fled Silverglade Village, I was so angry with myself that I threw all of my tools into the fountain. I forgot that I’d done that. I need them though, otherwise I can’t do anything about that broken clock!

I don’t dare to move an inch outside my door, imagine what would happen if someone recognized me?! You though, my petal, have freedom to roam about unchallenged; nobody suspects you of anything… Ride over to the fountain and collect my precious tools. Ride! Hurry!

Objectives: Find the Clockmaker’s tools in the Silverglade Village fountain.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride down to the fountain the the middle of the town square and fish out the tools. Return to Bonny when you have all of them.

big_bonny

Ooohh, Rita! My tools! My precious tools! Thank you so mu… But… They’re totally ruined! Oh my goldfish, why?! Why does this kind of baloney always happen to me?! MEEEE?!

WHYYY MEEEEEEEEE?!

WHHHHHYYYYYYYY… Cough… Cough…

(You thump Big Bonny on the back.)

Quest completed

______________

Oiling Up the Mechanisms

big_bonny

Even if my tools were repaired, it still would count for nothing. We need oil to lubricate the mechanisms. Actually, quite a lot of oil since it’s stood still for all these years. Who would even have any oil around these parts anyway? Nobody. No chance. Nobody, say I!

What? Steve? Oh yeah, he’s probably got oil.

But even so, dear Rita! It’s still a road to nowhere! It’ll never work! It’s a pathway to defeat! A highway to fiasco!

You want to try anyway? Sigh. Go right ahead if you want to fribble away your time. Here’s an empty oil bottle. Go and talk to Steve if you like…

Objectives: Ask Steve for oil.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Ride out to Steve’s farm and ask him if he has any oil you can spare.

steve

Oil? Why, yes I do indeed have some black gold right here!

Quest completed

______________

Topping Up the Oil

steve

Y’know there’s oil in that there tank, right Rita?

Hmm? You think it’s diesel? Meh, it’s not that big a difference. One thing you should know about my diesel is that it’s particularly oily diesel, so it’ll work just as well. Trust me! Believe in Steve!

All you need to do is take your bottle and fill it on up. I’m sure you can do that yourself.

Objectives: Fill up the oil from the tank at Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride over to the large green tank on the outside of the stable building, behind where the for sale Friesians are located. Use the oil can from your inventory, then speak to Steve when you have filled it up.

steve

So there you go! Now you’ve got a full bottle of oil. Or diesel. Or, well, yeah. Diesel oil…

Quest completed

______________

Back to the Clockmaker with the Diesel Oil

steve

And so you have a full bottle of diesel oil, Rita. Hope it’ll be of use! Take care, see ya!

Objectives: Ride back to Big Bonny with the oil.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Check that crisis off our list!

big_bonny

Pfff…

Hmm? You’ve filled the bottle with oil? Ooh! Excellent! Maybe there’s a chance the winds of luck could change after all!

Quest completed

______________

Tools Need to Be Repaired

big_bonny

Ugh, what a disaster… Just as I thought I was going to be able to return to my regular old life, the wicked fingers of chance crush my dreams like crumbly little cookies. How can life be so hideous and unkind?! My tools are destroyed!

If they can be repaired? Never. Impossible. How would that even work?! It’s over now, Rita. It’s all over. Just let me slither back into that sack and you can take me back to the silo.

Sniffle…

Hmm? You want to give a go at repairing the tools?

That’ll only work when pigs fly, my treasure. Useless idea.

What’s that? You have friends who can help you? The blacksmith? Meh, he’s very good, but not even his wonderful, skilled hands could work the kind of magic we need here.

Meh. Nope. Things can’t get any worse than they are now, so it doesn’t matter whether you give it a try or not. You may as well, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work out…

Objectives: Go to the blacksmith with the Clockmaker’s tools.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Ride to Conrad in Moorland and ask him if he can fix the tools.

conrad_marsdeen

Greetings to you, Rita. Might I help you with something?

Quest completed

______________

The Blacksmith’s Toughest Job

conrad_marsdeen

Repair the Clockmaker’s tools?

These little bundles of nothing aren’t really something I’d usually take a second look at, but because it’s you and you’re asking so nicely, I can make an exception. Anything for my friend Rita…

It’s not a simple project you’re asking me to work on. In fact, it’s probably the toughest thing you could ask a blacksmith to do, even a blacksmith as experienced as I.

In order for me to even begin work on this mighty undertaking, I’ll need your help. You need to find a special type of iron from the heart of Garnok, deep, deep, down in the volcano which sprayed death and destruction all over Jorvik. It’s a perilous journey, full of danger… You’ll be away from the safe embrace of Jorvik for quite some time.

Worry not, little Rita, I’ll help you. In that box over there by the house, there’s a tent you can borrow for the journey. Fetch it and I can tell you more.

Objectives: Fetch the tent and talk to the blacksmith again.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

A tent: the most important of travel provisions.

conrad_marsdeen

Excellent, you’ve got the tent. Good. Now, listen carefully…

Your journey to the heart of Garnok is going to take at least a month, and during that time, you’re not going to be able to see any of your friends or your horses. Horses are forbidden where you’re going, so you’re going to have to leave Summerblaze behind as well. A whole month without your friends or horses. It’s a serious sacrifice but I’m happy I can rely on you to see it through.

So, Rita… Are you ready to start your journey?

Quest completed

______________

Journey to the Heart of Garnok

conrad_marsdeen

Hahaha!

Heeheeheeeee!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I was just joking, Rita! Pulling your leg! Rattling your cage! What a completely world-class joke! I don’t just forge the best tools, I forge the best jokes as well! Pffahahahahahaha!!

Those tools were so easy to repair that I managed to fix the whole lot while you were rummaging around in that box over there.

Heeeeeeeeheeheehee!! What a totally outrageous joke I just released upon you. This joke is going to be talked about by my children… And my children’s children… And my children’s children’s children! In a hundred years, they’ll still be talking about the funniest joke in the history of all Jorvik!

Here are the tools, Rita. Give them to your friend the Clockmaker.

Objectives: Ride back to Big Bonny with the newly-repaired tools.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Who knew stuffy old Conrad had a sense of humor? And a vain one at that…

Big Bonny will be happy to have her tools fixed.

big_bonny

Sigh. It all came to nothing, didn’t it? Just as I predicted, a total disaster. Another disappointment. Another tragic chapter in my heartbreaking story.

If I want to see the tools? Pff. Nah. What difference would it make?

What…? Wait…! They look like new! Have I been released from the claws of fate? Have the winds of my destiny finally changed?!

Quest completed

______________

Master Clockmaker’s Apprentice

big_bonny

Now maybe there’s a chance for us after all Rita! Now the hour is upon us. We’re going to try to repair the clock!

It’s a very serious defect and if I wasn’t such a master clockmaker, I would probably have been forced to give up. But don’t be afraid, young Rita! I shall give you all the knowledge you need to repair it!

Why am I not doing it myself? Well, I’m sure you understand that it was a deeply troubling and emotional experience for me to come back to the scene of my own personal apocalypse, and I genuinely don’t believe I’ll ever be able to go there again. I was about to faint and fall down while I was up there! That could easily have been the end for me… Plummeting to an early grave.

I can’t go back. I won’t go back. And I can’t go back. I’d like very much for you to help me with this, Rita. Not for my sake, but for the sake of the sweet, sweet villagers! Don’t leave them high and dry, forced to live every day in a meaningless, clockless life.

You’ll help me? Miraculously marvelous!

Now I’m going to tell you exactly what you need to do. The most important thing is that you carry out the steps in the right order. If you do it right, the clock will tick once more! If you do it wrong, then you just need to cross your fingers you’ve not flubbed and fumbled it too badly and come back to me so you can have another try.

Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1. Use the wrench on the wheel by the clock face.

Step 2. Pour oil into the big funnel.

Step 3. Use the clock winding key to wind up the spring.

Step 4. Pull the lever to start the clock.

Step 5. Cross your fingers!

Step 6. There are no more steps.

Good luck!

Objectives: Repair the clock like this:

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

Dismount your horse to enter the clock tower. If you forget the order of the steps, be sure to check your quest log to view the quest dialogue again. If you are not sure which item to use, click on the sparkles to tell you what to use.

The wheel for the wrench is at the middle of the tower, up two stairs from the entrance.

The funnel is at the very top of the tower, up three stairs from the wheel.

The spring is also at the middle of the tower, down two stairs from the funnel.

The lever is on the same level as the funnel, up two stairs from the spring.

When you and fixed the clock, return to Big Bonny.

big_bonny

You’ve repaired the clock!

Hooray!

I’ve repaired the clock!!

HOORAY FOR ME!!

I’m a hero! A solid gold hero!

I shan’t forget you, Rita. When I’m awarded a medal – a medal of amazingness – I’ll give you a special mention in my acceptance speech!

Quest completed

______________

Give the Council Man the Fantastic News!

big_bonny

Now, not to be too much of a big brash smartypants, but I do rather believe that now I’ll get both the medal and probably some flowers from the Council Man. Maybe he’ll even organize a parade or festival in my honor! I’m pretty certain he’ll be doing that. I can see it now… “Carnival á la Big Bonny!” Ohhhh, today is a wonderful, marvelous, magnificent day, my little Rita. Come on, let’s go!

Objectives: Meet Big Bonny at the Council Man’s place in Silverglade Village.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

I’m sure the Council Man will be just ecstatic. He’ll jump for joy!

council_man

Oh, hello. Clockmaker Big Bonny… Not seen you for a while.

Quest completed

An Unexpected Anticlimax

council_man

Well, well, Big Bonny! Nice to see you again.

Listen, while you’re here, do you think you could have a look at that broken clock? Nice one.

Hmm? Oh, it’s fixed already. Neat.

Yep, well, excellent. Thanks for that. Now, you’ll have to excuse me, I’ve got lots to be getting on with. Bye.

Objectives: Tell Big Bonny what the Council Man said.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Tell Big Bonny what the Council Man said of her return.

big_bonny

Wh… What did he say?

He hasn’t even noticed I’ve been away… Am I that insignificant? Mmmmeeeeeeehhh, am I not worth more than that?!

Sniffle…

An Inconsolable Clockmaker

big_bonny

So, nobody’s even noticed that I’ve been away for five years.

This is horrendous.

I’m worthless. A little, meaningless insect. An ant. A louse. A tiny beetle.

I’m a pointless little cockroach!

Sniffle, sniffle…

…

Excuse me Rita, I have to return to the silo and live out the rest of my pointless cockroachy days in sorrow and loneliness…

Objectives. Talk to the Council Man again.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Tell the Council Man that Big Bonny is upset.

council_man

Hi Rita, can I help you with something?

Why does Big Bonny look so sad? What’s happened?

What? Cockroach? Oh, now I understand. So she’s lived in exile for years because she made a mistake that she thought would destroy the whole village? Now she’s repaired the broken clock and thought she’d be carried through the streets in celebration?

How should we go about fixing this Rita? Everyone has wristwatches and cellphones these days, there’s nobody who really needs the Town Hall clock, it’s mostly just nice to look at. Hmm… Well we have to try and get Big Bonny in a better word, don’t we Rita? Let me have another word with her.

Quest completed

______________

An Unbelievably Unbelievable Job

council_man

Clockmaker Big Bonny? Please do excuse my earlier performance.

You see, without the Town Hall clock to wake me every morning, I’ve slept so badly recently that I’ve basically turned into a zombie. I think that’s why my reaction earlier was so, umm… Casual. Now the news has had a chance to sink into my head. Not as sharp as I used to be, you see.

What you have done is totally wonderful!

Just think, when you left town we were so completely furious and thoroughly disappointed in you, and we just couldn’t understand how you could have left us with a broken clock. But after some time, we began to understand what a terribly difficult job you had, especially after each and everyone of us tried to get up there and fix the clock, each one of us failing horribly! Now you’re back, and in less than a day you’ve got  everything fixed. You’re a true hero!

As a thank you for your efforts, I hereby declare you Silverglade Clockmaker of the highest order!

Clockmaker Big Bonny, thank you again! Please never leave the village again! We couldn’t survive without you!

Objectives: Talk to Big Bonny.

Rewards: 200 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP, Clockmaker’s Waistcoat

Big Bonny finally gets the recognition she expected!

big_bonny

Oh, Rita I absolutely knew it! Not to be big-headed, but like he said: without me, the village would never survive.

That’s decided: I’ll never leave the village again. Never ever!

Thank you for all your help Rita!

Here’s a lovely little thing for you as a token of my gratitude. Now, I have to get myself home again, because as I’m sure you understand, there’s quite a lot of cleaning to do after five years in exile! Come and visit me should you ever find the time. Goodbye!

Equestrian Center Gardener

bjorn

Hello! What a gorgeous horse you have!

I’m sorry. I should introduce myself. I am Bjorn, master gardener, artist, and renaissance man, at your service. Your horse must be the most beautiful horse to ever trod the green hills of Jorvik. I absolutely have to paint a portrait of your horse sometime!

Aha, and here beside me is Agnetha, my dear wonderful wife. Together we are a formidable gardening team with a brilliant vision, a sacred mission! We are going to restore the Winery gardens to their former glory.

Now I have a great idea! You should join us! No… I won’t take no for an answer. I can see it now… Bjorn, Agnetha, and Rita… In an article together in the Jorvik Gazette… “Together they accomplished the task of the century and restored the Eighth Wonder of the World – The Silverglade Gardens!”

This is going to be fantastic! Take these measuring sticks, or whatever they are called, and put them into the ground over there by the paddock. When that is done, my dear wife Agnetha can start working.

Objectives: Plan the measuring sticks around the garden beside the paddock.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 5 with Winery Master Gardeners

Go up the hill towards the outdoor arena, and place the markers on the indicated locations. This is the home of the future Sun Garden. When you are done, return to Bjorn.

bjorn

That’s great Rita! This is so exciting! Now you need to speak with Agnetha, let her know she can start clearing the garden now. Hurry, hurry, hurry!

A Careful Cleaning of the Land

agnetha

Wait.

Wait…

 BURRRRP!!!

Whoa… That really hit the spot! That was a great sandwich. Full of mayonnaise, shrimp, and all sorts of great stuff. What can I do for you now?

Whoa… Hold it right there. You don’t get to ride up her on your little pony and try to tell me how you should clear some land. I don’t think so. Listen to me now little girl. This requires the real thing!

Ride over to my old friend Barney and ask him to return the chainsaw I loaned him last year… That and a little dynamite I have under my bed should be just the thing to get this job done right in this little garden.

This is going to be perfect… Then my little darling man can put his little flowers just where he wants them.

Objectives: Borrow a chainsaw from Barney.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 20 with Winery Master Gardeners

Barney can be found at his silo near Silverglade Village.

Objectives: Ride back to Agnetha with the chainsaw.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Agnetha should be happy to see her precious dear chainsaw again.

agnetha

It’s about time, Rita. And here is the chainsaw we talked about, let’s have a look at it…

It is smaller than I remember, but… I guess it might work to clear the area with this little toothpick… But it might take a long time.

Okay. Come back tomorrow, stand back and let a real woman do her job.

Return to Bjorn tomorrow.

Hurry up Rita!

Plumbing in the Garden

agnetha

Ah ah aaa! That is close enough Rita. You don’t need to come any close than that on your little horse.

Ah yes. We will need to repair the pipes. You should know that here on this old broken farm the pipes are of the worst possible quality. They break all the time and I don’t have time to fix them all AND help Bjorn with everything he wants done. He is completely worthless with anything that resembles real work, just in case you haven’t figured that out yet. How are you with fixing things, sweetie? Are you as useless as Bjorn or are you ready to get dirty and get things done?

You can? I’m glad to hear it. We like your kind of person here.

Have a look at these things here. This is my plumbing work kit. Be careful with it as these things are expensive. Take the tools with you to the garden and repair those broken pipes and come back later. Don’t be lazy now. This is good old-fashioned work.

Objectives: Repair the pipes over by the Sun Garden.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride up to the broken pipe and use the plumbing kit to fix it. Return to Agnetha when you are finished.

agnetha

Good going little Rita! Now the flowers won’t have to die of thirst, like someone else here I could mention.

The Big Secret

agnetha

Listen now, little Rita. The real secret behind this garden idea is a new invention, a super-fertilizer that I have discovered. It should get the flowers to grow and bloom in no time at all. You thought I was only good at running chainsaws and blowing things up, didn’t you? Well… You thought wrong. I have a good head on my shoulders, alright.

When I worked over at Jorvik Stables, I used to muck the stalls, from morning to late at night, every day. I noticed everything grew very fast on the manure pile. I tested it by tossing a bundle of seeds on the pile one night and when I came back in the morning the pile was coated with tulips. So I asked Herman, the boss there, “Herman sweetie, it doesn’t make sense for this fertilizer to just be lying here, right? Why don’t I just buy it all for a cheap penny?” and he answered “Of course you can.” So now I have exclusive rights to the world’s best fertilizer, direct from Jorvik Stables, and we are going to use it to grow our flowers.

But anyways little Rita. I’m standing here and wasting valuable time we could be using to work instead. Here, take this sack of super-fertilizer and empty it in the Sun Garden. I know it doesn’t exactly smell like roses but you can use a clothespin on your nose.

Objectives: Spread the fertilizer out on the flower beds in the Sun Garden.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

Place the fertilizer on the indicated spots in the garden, the return to Agnetha when you are finished.

agnetha

Well done Rita! Now we just have to wait and let the super-fertilizer do its work. Come back tomorrow and we’ll have a look at it.

Quest completed

Return to Agnetha tomorrow.

______________

Not Only Flowers

agnetha

Listen up now. My patented super-fertilizer works too well. It isn’t only the flowers that grow quickly… But  the weeds too. We’ll we can’t have that, can we? Now it is time for you to roll up your sleeve and do some honest old-fashioned work. You are a little skinny to use my chainsaw… Don’t you eat enough breakfast?

Anyways, this is what we should do. Take these garden shears and clear out all the weeds in the Sun Garden. Don’t come back until all the weeds are gone. Get to it… Go on… Go.

Objectives: Get rid of the weeds in the Sun Garden.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

Go up to the Sun Garden and remove the weeds. Return to Agnetha when you are finished.

agnetha

There we go. The weeds are all gone, like they should be. Very well done.

Thirsty Flowers

agnetha

Rita, come over here for a second.

You… Well… This isn’t good.

You didn’t do a good job when you were repairing the pipes in the Sun Garden. Now they are spraying water all over the place again. We don’t like this kind of bad quality work here, little Rita. You’ll need to run down there and repair the pipes again… But do it properly this time. I’ve got my eye on you Rita.

Objectives: Repair the pipe by the Sun Garden again.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

Repair the pipe the same way you did the first time, the return to Agnetha.

agnetha

There we go. I don’t see water spraying all over the place anymore.

Doesn’t that feel good Rita? Real honest hard work is like food for the soul… Like I always say to Bjorn.

Now we’ll wait and see what happens. One more night, Rita, and I’m sure we’ll see the flowers have bloomed.

Invasion in the Garden

agnetha

Hold on there, Rita. We have a serious situation here that I need to take care of.

You want to help?

That’s the right attitude, Rita! I can always count on you through thick and thin!

Listen up now. Some sneaky parasites have sneaked into the garden and are trying to steal the fruit of our labor. Those little biters are sneaky as can be and I haven’t managed to catch a single one of them. I am completely worn out… No matter how quick I am, they jump back down into their holes as soon as I get close. I think you need to sneak up on them… Maybe you could give it a try?

Good! Take this sack and stuff it with those little guys. You’ll need to sneak up on them to be able to catch them, remember that.

Objectives: Catch the chipmunks in the garden. Sneak up on them from behind and catch them in the sack. Remember they are scared of you and your horse, so don’t put your horse too close to any of the holes.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

You have to approach the chipmunks from behind or from the side. If you approach from the front, they will jump into their hole. When you move away from the hole, they will jump back out, facing a different direction.

When you have caught all of the chipmunks, return to Agnetha.

agnetha

Well done, Rita! There are a lot of those little guys in the sack!

What should we do with these little parasites? I’d like to throw them off a cliff… But Bjorn would never agree to anything like that.

Agnetha? She is completely crazy, Rita! Are you sure you are going to work for her? Did you know she worked on my farm before? But it didn’t work out. Even on Sundays she was out there chopping wood and plowing the fields. I thought she would take some time off… But she never did, ever. She didn’t want me to rest either! I was afraid of going out of my house until it was dark. I had to let her go… It was just too stressful having her here.

But send my greetings to Bjorn and let him know the chipmunks are going to fit in well here. Bye bye, Rita!

Objectives: Ride back to Bjorn.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 50 with Winery Master Gardeners

Return to Bjorn and tell him that the little chipmunks will live out their lives happily on Steve’s farm.

bjorn

Hello Rita! So our little chipmunks are going to have a good life over at Steve’s? That is great to hear. Agnetha can get a little fired up when she thinks people are not working hard enough… So she doesn’t get along well with Steve. I think it is a little sad… Steve and I have a lot in common…

But you, Rita. Now we need to work day and night to get these flowers to bloom! We can’t possibly manage it without your help, so please come here every day, take care of a couple things, and before you know it… It will be harvest time! I’m so excited about all of this, I just might pee myself!

(Oh dear, I really wish you wouldn’t… I will not clean up that mess…)

A Vision for the Sun Garden

bjorn

Wait… I have a vision…

Yeeessss! That is how it should be! Think Rita, you are sitting and relaxing, surrounded by our beautiful flowers. What could be more relaxing than that? I’ll tell you! A little pool with bubbling fresh water!

As luck would have it, we already have a pool here but there are so many holes in it that I am afraid to fill it with water. If you can find stones for me, I can patch it. We can’t just use any old rocks… They need to be the exact right kind, otherwise it will look uncommonly awful… You understand, right?

The perfect stones are only at one place in all of Jorvik… Below the cliffs to the Winery. So it isn’t that far away… Pretty lucky right?!

Ride over there, close to the riding arena, and collect some of those perfect stones. Hurry!

Objectives: Pick up some stones down the cliff from the Winery, close to the riding arena.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Garden Expansion

Rita! Rita!

Come here for a minute! The garden is even more amazing than I ever would have imagined. It’s really a miracle of never before seen beauty! Not even when the garden was built a long time ago, was it so beautiful here, I’m a billion fantastic percent sure!

But, what I wanted to say is that we must continue our work on restoring the garden, it is our duty! Let’s get started with the next part, the farm house.

Ride over to the Baroness and tell her that it is time to proceed with the garden project, I will not accept no for an answer from her. It will not do, we must proceed with the garden, must, must, must, right away!!

Ride over to her and come back as fast as you can!

Flower Proof

baroness

Have they really restored the Sun Garden, Rita? And it looks good? A really good job, you say? I’m not really sure I can really believe what you are saying. I thought at most they would clear up the flower beds but it sounds like they have completely restored everything. Can they continue with the work of restoring the gardens, you ask?

I don’t know, Rita. It is a big responsibility that requires experienced tradesmen. The vineyard has a long history and I won’t have hobby-builders destroying a part of that history with shoddy work.

For them to continue, I will need to see evidence of the quality of their work, Rita. Let’s do this, around here on the estate we have empty white flower pots that you have probably seen. If Bjorn and Agnetha plant some of their flowers in them, I will get a chance to see how they look. If I find that the flowers are of acceptable quality, then they can continue in their project. Ride back to Bjorn and let them know my decision.

Objectives: Ride over to Bjorn and let him know what the Baroness has said.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

It seems a compromise is in order. Return to the garden and tell Bjorn about the deal with the Baroness.

Take the pansies and plant them in the pots I have marked around the Winery. Speak with the Baroness when you are done.

Objectives: Plant the pansies around the Winery.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Are you sure you know what you are getting into, Rita? Agnetha isn’t right in the head, as you may have noticed? She actually used to work here, but I had no choice but to fire her… When I woke up one morning she had gone around the whole village and woken up all the old pensioners and put them to work weeding the gardens around the fences. When I asked her why, she told me I should stop whining and get a shovel to help. She also said the old raisins shouldn’t be lying around just collecting a pension! So, it is now time for me to change paths. I am going to start riding! It looks like such amazing fun every time I see you and Summerblaze riding around here.

The garden? Which garden? Aha… Nah… Forget that Rita. That was ages ago… I’ve moved on. That was an earlier chapter in my life. Now I’m going to move on to something I’ve dreamed of for my whole life… Or at least since this morning… Riding!

I have spoken with Judy at the Equestrian Center, and she has promised to lend me a horse. Would you mind riding over there to get it for me, Rita?

Hurry, hurry, hurry!

Objectives: Speak with the stable girl at the Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride up to Judy at the Winery stable and speak to her about getting a horse for Bjorn.

judy

Bjorn’s horse? I’m not really sure about this at all…

Quest completed

______________

A Horse for Bjorn

judy

It doesn’t sound like the best idea in the world Rita. Bjorn isn’t exactly what we would call… Responsible. But I can think he might be able to borrow old Brunte for a bit. Brunte is the kindest and calmest horse we have and if anything happens he will just make his way back here.

You don’t really need to put a lead on Brunte at all… Just go up to him and show him where he should go. He is standing over there by the stables.

Objectives: Escort Brunte to Bjorn.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

The horse is standing in the stables behind you. Approach him and continue to stay close to him as he makes his way down to the garden. Speak with Bjorn when the horse is delivered.

bjorn

Wow… What a stately trot! His name is Brunte? That must be the most perfect horse name I have ever heard! A trot worthy of a king! Brunte, do you see me in front of you? You and I are going to be winners in all the championships here in Jorvik together, and later in the whole world!

I think Agnetha wanted to talk to you about something Rita. Now I have to go out and win all the races in the whole world! We’ll see you around!

…Now… Let’s see… How do I get up into the saddle? What are these bits of metal going up to Brunte’s mouth? Why do you have bits of metal on your feet…

Quest completed

______________

Agnetha is Stirred Up

agnetha

Little Rita. Now Bjorn has lost interest… It happens every now and then. But don’t worry. He’ll be back on track soon, we’ll just have to help him a little. He was chattering about the last part of the garden… It should be full of roses.

Now you should ride up to Valedale Village and collect some rose seeds. Just look under the rose bushes there and I’m sure you will find more than we need.

Objectives: Look for rose seeds in Valedale Village.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride or transport to Valedale and collect seeds from the rose bushes planted around the village. When you have collected enough seeds, return to Agnetha at the Winery.

agnetha

Well done, Rita. Now we have seeds to plant.

Quest completed

______________

Mark Out the Rose Garden

agnetha

Now we need you to mark the edges of the Rose Garden so I can clear it out with my chainsaw. Here are the measuring sticks… You know how this is done.

Objectives: Mark out the Rose Garden.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Go into the Rose Garden, the last garden area left to clear, and place the measuring sticks at each corner. Return to Agnetha when you are finished.

agnetha

Well done little Rita. Come back tomorrow and I’m sure I will be done fixing up the garden.

Quest completed

Return to Bjorn tomorrow.

______________

Plant the Seeds

bjorn

Have you seen the Rose Garden, Rita?! It is an unfinished masterwork that is just waiting for me to finish it! I can hear it calling out to me!

Brunte? Who is that??

Aha… You think I am going to ride. Nah. Riding is out.Now it is gardening that matters! I don’t know how you can think riding is cool… Nothing personal, Rita… When you could be gardening instead!

But anyways, now I don’t have much time, we need to get going! Take these rose seeds and plant them in the Rose Garden. Hurry, Rita, hurry!

Objectives: Plant the rose seeds in the Rose Garden.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Dismount your horse to plant the seeds in the newly cleared Rose Garden. When you have planted all of the seeds, return to Bjorn.

bjorn

Fantastic Rita! I can just see the Rose Garden as it will be… Anyone who sees our roses will never be able to appreciate the beauty of anything else… Anything else will seem ugly and boring… And the memory of our Rose Garden will be the only worthwhile experience on earth. It’s true Rita, tragic but true. I almost wish it wasn’t, but it is our sacred duty as gardeners to carry out.

Quest completed

______________

Test Bjorn’s Riding Trail

bjorn

I don’t know how I am going to be able to handle the wait for the roses Rita! Do you feel it too?

No? You are so funny Rita. I almost believe you. You know what? So that you have something else to think of… Maybe you would like to try my race track? A long time ago I was interested in riding… I was a fantastic rider and I won every single prize that there was to win on Jorvik. Then I built a race track. I don’t want to brag, but it is actually the best race in the whole world. What do you think, are you ready to test it?

I don’t want you to hurt yourself to keep your eyes on the trail and don’t be distracted by how fantastic it is. Good luck!

Objectives: Test Bjorn and Agnetha’s race course.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Complete the race around the garden, then speak with Bjorn when you have crossed the finish line.

bjorn

Fantastic ride Rita! It reminds me a little of myself a long time ago when I used to compete. Unheard-of-good!

Quest completed

______________

Bushes for the Winery

bjorn

Rita, while we wait for the roses to bloom, you can help me with something else. I know, everything outside of the roses feels completely unimportant right now, but this is another project that really needs to be done.

We have elevated the beauty of the Winery from the old shell it used to be to almost looking like it belongs close to our gardens. But the Winery needs extra help from us to not be completely overshadowed by our fantastic gardens.

Take these bushes and plant them around the mansion Rita, so that the people working up there don’t begin to weep uncontrollably because they have to work up there instead of here with us.

Objectives: Plant bushes at the Winery.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride up to the Winery and dismount your horse to plant the bushes in the indicated places. Return to Bjorn when you are done.

bjorn

Thank you Rita! Now the workers up by the mansion can enjoy a small sliver of happiness that our garden leaks out into the world.

A Fountain for Agnetha’s Grove

bjorn

A fountain, Rita. A fountain!

That is exactly what we need for Agnetha’s Grove. How could I have not thought of that? Well… Now I AM thinking about it of course… So we need to build a fountain there. Why aren’t you saying anything Rita?

It doesn’t matter… We need to build a fountain right away!

They have a fountain up at the Manor. If they have one then they must have more! Ask Carney if they have an extra fountain they can lend us.

You don’t think they do? Stop it Rita, there is no room for doubt in my plan. Think positive now!

Objectives: Ask Carney about borrowing a fountain.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride up to the stable and speak to Carney about getting a fountain for the garden.

carney

Hello Rita.

An extra fountain to borrow?

Quest completed

______________

Fountain Kit

carney

Yes, there is an extra fountain in the cellar, actually. It is really a kit from JKEA… So you need to put it together yourself. It has been in the cellar for a very long time, so it would be great to see it actually get used.

Take the kit and ride back to Bjorn with it. Let him know he is welcome to have it.

Objectives: Collect the fountain building kit from the cellar of the Winery and ride back to Bjorn.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Dismount your horse to enter the cellar of the factory building, the same cellar where you patched the hole in the wall. The kit is in the far back room. When you have collected the kit, return to Bjorn in the garden.

bjorn

What did I tell you Rita! Nobody has just ONE fountain, everyone knows that!

Quest completed

______________

Fountain Building

bjorn

I don’t understand, Rita… How does this fit together… This thingy should attach to that whatchamacallit… Or should this attach to that there?

…

No! This is not going to work! My aesthetic senses are screaming! This manual is not only useless, it is also criminally ugly too!

Rita, I simply can’t look at this manual any longer without vomiting. You can put the fountain together instead. Do it in place in Agnetha’s Grove so I won’t have to look at it until it is finished. Don’t come back here until you are done, we can’t waste a single second until it is done! Hurry, hurry!

Objective: Build the fountain in the right place in Agnetha’s Grove.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Dismount your horse and go to the spot indicated in Agnetha’s Grove. Use the fountain kit to build it. When you are done, return to Bjorn.

bjorn

Ha! Look at that! What a fantastically gorgeous fountain! With my aesthetic sense and your ability to tolerate ugly manuals, we have assembled a masterpiece!

Thank you for your amazing help Rita!

Quest completed

Return to Bjorn when you are Admired with the Winery Master Gardeners

Wait…

Wait…

Wait…

HA HA! Look! What a miracle! I can STAND! This proves the power of the roses! I feel as strong as an ox! I can do anything! WHATEVER I WANT TO DO! And what I feel like doing is just standing here and looking at my flowers! Look at me Rita! I can stand here and look at the flowers… It is a true miracle!

Aah…

Thank you for everything Rita… I feel a strange feeling right now… All through my body… I feel… Calm? Very strange… I think I should probably take it easy right now…

Roses for the Winery

agnetha

Little Rita. Now it is time to take some of our roses and do something beautiful with them up at the Winery mansion. Ride over to my old friend Conrad, the blacksmith in Moorland, and ask him for some iron gates for the roses to climb on.

That should do it, ride over to Conrad and come back as quick as you can.

Surely Conrad will happily construct something for you. Go see what he says.

conrad_marsdeen

So Agnetha sent you here?

Quest completed

______________

Back to Agnetha

conrad_marsdeen

Agnetha, I remember her. She worked for me as an apprentice…

Do you know her?

What do I think of her?

A fantastic person! A dependable rock of a human being. Like me, she worked day and night and never let anything get in the way of the work. I wanted her to remain here as my apprentice so I could teach her the art of blacksmithing and train her to be the best blacksmith Jorvik has ever seen.

But then that hideous Bjorn had carried her off with his talk of gardens and how together they would be famous gardeners. Agnetha would conquer the world, he said, and Agnetha feel for it all. She gave up everything she had to follow him and help him achieve his dreams.

It really was a terrible shame… She had so much potential… And it was all ruined by a ridiculous dreamer with nothing but air between his ears.

But… Love is like that. It can make the best of us do the worst things.

Now, here is an iron gate like you asked for. Let Agnetha know she is always welcome to come back and apprentice for me any time she likes.

Objectives: Ride back to Agnetha.

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 25 with Winery Master Gardeners

Return to Agnetha with the iron gates.

agnetha

Well done little Rita. This is going to look great at the Winery, you will see.

Quest completed

Return to Agnetha tomorrow.

Flowers to Fort Pinta

agnetha

Come here for a minute Rita. Look at this. Proof that hard work pays off in the long run. An order from Fort Pinta. Not bad right?

Objectives: Ride with the flowers to the guard in Fort Pinta.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 50 with Winery Master Gardeners

Speak with the Security in front of the disco cafe to deliver the flowers.

These flowers are going to increase morale in our recruits, I mean visitors, and allow them to complete their assignments, or what they would call “dancing,” with higher energy and precision.

Quest completed

Reputation: 100 with Winery Master Gardeners

Littering is a Terrible Crime

bjorn

Rita, a master gardener’s work is never truly done. Have you ever been up to the old race track? You have? Have you seen that behind it there is a bunch of statues and littler? No? I don’t know how they got there but when I saw them, I felt a darkness in myself. Should these fantastic creations just lie here in the trash when they could be out bringing happiness to people who see them placed out around our gardens?

Then cam a vision, Rita, you understand? You know what we need to do? Can you picture it?

No?

It doesn’t matter, we need to follow my vision. Bring the statues back from the old race track and I’ll explain my plan a bit better.

Objectives: Collect the statues from behind the Baroness’ racetrack for Bjorn.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 10 with Winery Master Gardeners

Ride up to the west side of the racetrack and pick up all of the statues piled against a tree. When you have all of them, return to Bjorn.

bjorn

What amazing beautiful statues! How could anyone have thrown the away?

This here needs to be placed out in our garden right away…

Look how amazing it looks! Thank you Rita!

Quest completed

______________

Thank You for the Help

bjorn

Rita, thank you for the help. You’ll have to excuse me… I need to just stand here and take it easy… Speak with Agnetha if there is anything you need to talk about.

Objectives: Speak with Agnetha.

Rewards: 250 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Reputation: 100 with Winery Master Gardeners

Agnetha would like to give you her thanks as well.

agnetha

Little Rita. You are a good friend. Now the gardens are rebuilt so we are just going to maintain and run them so we can sell our plants to the rest of Jorvik.

Here is a small token of our appreciation we felt you should have for all the help you have given us. There, you’re welcome. You’ll have to excse me. Now I have to go as I have no time for small talk when there is so much work to be done.

Quest completed

Now time to enjoy the completed gardens in all its glory!

A New Home for the Chipmunks

steve

What do you think about letting them live behind the barn? In the corner of the old wall where the race starts. Then we won’t have to walk very far when it’s time to give them cabbage.

Here, take these signs and put them up around here so no one walks or rides into this area and gets hurt. We don’t want any tourists to get stuck either.

Objectives: Put up signs behind the barn at Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 14 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Put the signs in the area next to the finish line of the race.

steve

Well done Rita. Now we’ve made a new home for our small friends.

Quest completed

______________

A Bathtub for the Chipmunks

steve

What? You think we should give them a bathtub? Aha, the vet said that they like to take baths because they get so dirty when they dig. Yes, that sounds fair. Barney at the silo has some old water troughs and I’m sure he’ll give one to us.

Barney used to be outside his silo to the east of us, not far away. Oh, that’s right, you’ve met him before.

Objectives: Talk to Barney at the silo, east of Steve’s farm, to get an old water trough.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Ride to Barney’s silo and ask him about getting a water trough.

barney

An old water trough? As a bathtub for chipmunks? Steve seems to get weirder each day. I think he’s using my grain for other things than feeding the birds…

Quest completed

Hunt for the Perfect Bathtub!

barney

Of course you can take an old water trough. I think there’s one behind the silo. If you can find one and it’s not broken you can take it.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Put the pile of cabbage in the middle of the marked off area. Return to Steve when you have done so.

steve

How nice they moved here so fast! I think they like both you and the cabbage a lot. I hope they’ll live and be happy here in their new home so one one will fall down in holes any more. Thank you again for an assignment well done. You can come back and help me feed them if you want to.

Quest completed

Repair the Field

steve

Rita! I almost forgot. The old holes that the chipmunks made have to be filled. They’re too dangerous. Take this shovel and fill them. When you come back I’ll have a nice reward for you!

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 90 XP, Good Riding Pants

Have a nice day here in Silverglade, Rita!

Lost Money

tan

I’ve saved for a long time to be able to buy new riding clothes and now all my money is gone. I must have lost them! They have to be somewhere nearby. Can you help me look for them, please?

There are three places I might have lost them in. One is in the paddock next to me, near the hay. Or maybe I lost them during lunch. Answer to the order? Didn’t you see the helicopter?

We Are Missing an Excavator

buildmaster_olaf

The gondola lift was the most important thing, but of course we need a few more things too. This is the first time I’ve worked in Jorvik so I don’t know all the local builders here yet. I’ve spoken a bit with the guys digging the tunnel down there and we might be able to borrow the equipment we need from them.

The first thing we need is an excavator so we can level the ground where the new station will be built. Ride over and see if we can borrow their excavator.

Objectives: Speak with the builders at North Link and see if they will lend us an excavator.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

We have a lot of free time up here so I have a lot of time to spend on my favorite hobby, video games! Right now I don’t have any good games… but there is a game I really, really want to play right now… it might be the best horse game EVER! The problem is I can’t seem to find it here on the island.

Somebody has to have it! Zombie Horse Pole Bending Apocalypse is what it is called. Find me a copy of that game and you can borrow my excavator.

Lost Zombies Horses

josh

It was a really great game, but much too scary for me. The pole bending tracks were so scare they gave me nightmares. But I couldn’t seem to stop playing the game. So I threw it away. The problem was I couldn’t find a single garbage can in all of Silverglade, not a single one. Eventually I sneaked up behind Jasper’s old house and hid it in the old stuff in his attic.

He has moved away so I thought it wouldn’t matter… I’m a little embarrassed about it now so you don’t need to give me a hard time about it The game is probably still there anyways…

Zombie Horse Pole Bending Apocalypse? I have that… or I used to have it.

Quest completed

______________

Video Game All Day

james

I remember now. I thought I would start a used-goods market, which would work great here in Fort Pinta, and I needed things to sell. I thought maybe Jasper had left some stuff behind that might be good enough to sell. But the only thing I found was that game, Zombie Pole Bending Apocalypse.

That must be the best game ever! It was so much fun to play… I played all night, and all day then all night again. I forgot to take care of my customers, it was THAT good! You understand I couldn’t keep doing that so I had to sell it.

The person who bought it was an older lady from Firgrove. I think her name was Ms Morse. She said she had never played games before but wondered what it was like. So I sold her the game and my old game console. I’m sure she is in Firgrove if you want to speak with her.

Objectives: Speak with Ms Morse about Zombie Horse Pole Bending Apocalypse.

Woohoo! What a game! Zombie Horse Pole Bending Apocalypse!!! I’ve been up playing all night and when the sun came up I knew I had to make a proper Pole Bending Apocalypse race… just like in the game!

But now I’m non sure it is a good idea… Now that the course is done, and I’ve calmed down a little, the course actually looks… Well it looks really dangerous actually. I don’t think I would be able to ride it myself.

You want to have the game? Oh… I don’t know… it was so much fun. Tell you what, if you can manage to ride my pole bending course I’ll give you the game as a reward.

Objectives: Ride the Pole Bending Apocalypse race.

The Jorvik Lapis Lazuli. A rare and beautiful blue stone. To be able to find it you need to search long and hard, but I’ve found a place nearby where I found a few specimens.

Ride up to the western part of Nilmer’s Highlands. You know, the area to the west of the abandoned farm where I think you used to compete with the Bobcat girls. Ride to the rocky knolls to the far west of that area. If you’re lucky you can find some Lapis Lazuli there. Return to me when you’ve found three stones.

I’ve heard that one of Carney’s brothers started building a new show jumping track outside Silverglade Village, you should ride over there and have a look! I would love to join you but I don’t have time. The track is on the field to the west of the village, between the vineyard and Silverglade Village.

Look, I got a text message from Thomas Moorland. He wants to talk to you. Have a lovely day, Rita! See you later.

Hunt for Tourists

This is what happened… Three tourists hired horses from me and went out for a ride, but they haven’t returned. They’re not very experienced riders so I gave them my most sweet-natured horses, but I’m worried that something has happened or that they have gotten lost.

They should’ve taken the trail past Doyle’s Abbey straight to the north and then continued northeast to Silverglade Castle via Steve’s farm. Please, start looking at Doyle’s Abbey.

Objectives: Search for the tourists, start looking at Doyle’s Abbey.

The first tourist can be found immediately off the road, behind Doyle’s Abbey, before you get to the cross-roads.

gunther

Guten tag young miss! My name is Gunther! Yes, I’m one of the tourists that hired horses at Fort Pinta. Where is my horse and the others, you ask? You could say I’m also wondering about that…

Quest completed

______________

The Horse That Ran Away

gunther

We were out riding and had a nice trip until my horse suddenly spotted a huge bumblebee and went completely nuts! He ran off with me barely hanging on around his neck and apparently my family couldn’t keep up with me.

Suddenly the horse stopped, I fell off and the horse ran away. Can you help me find it and bring it back to me so I can ride to Fort Pinta?

I’m sure that the horse is nearby. I thought I heard it neighing around the eastern side of the abbey ruins.

Objectives: Find the horse that Gunther lost around Doyle’s Abbey and bring it back to him.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

The horse is inside the Abbey wall, all the way on the other side of the ruins, towards Jarl’s Tomb.

Pat the horse and lead/follow it back to Gunther.

gunther

Splendid! There’s the nice little horse. Thank you for your help, now I can ride back to Fort Pinta by myself.

Quest completed

______________

One Saved, Two Remain

gunther

My wife and daughter, Helga and Gretchen, must’ve thought that I could take care of myself and continued the ride without me. Go to Steve’s farm and to the castle to see if you can find them. I’ll return to Fort Pinta and tell James what’s happened so he doesn’t have to worry. You are more capable of riding around and looking for them than I am so I think this is the best solution.

Objectives: Look for the other tourists at Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

The other two tourists can be found on the edge of the field behind the barn at Steve’s farm.

helga

Hello, my name is Helga! You’re out looking for us? And you have found Gunther too, that’s good! We could really use some help. My daughter Gretchen’s horse is stuck in a hold in the ground and we can’t get him out.

Quest completed

______________

Borrow a Shovel

helga

The horse stepped into one of these deep holes and can’t get loose. I wonder where all those dangerous holes come from… They’re bad for the horses, they are.

Oh, you know Steve who has the farm over there? Do you think you can borrow a shove from him? That’s wonderful. Borrow the shovel so we can free the horse.

Objectives: Borrow a shovel from Steve. His farm is to the east of Silverglade Village, close to the field.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Ask Steve for a shovel, he’s sure to oblige.

steve

Oh, you want to borrow a shovel? It’s bad news that there are holes in the ground that can be dangerous for both people and animals.

Quest completed

______________

Dig a Hole

steve

Take this shovel and help the poor tourists, but be careful so you don’t harm the horse! Bring back the shovel when you’re done and tell me what happened.

Objectives: Use Steve’s shovel and dig a hole so the tourists’ horse can get loose. It’s on the field close to Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 65 XP

Oh, Steve. Always concerned about the animals.

Go up into the field to free the horse. You have to be dismounted to use the shovel.

helga

Well done! Thanks for your help. Now we can return to Fort Pinta.

Quest completed

______________

Return the Shovel to Steve

helga

Thanks for helping us. While you return the shovel to Steve we’ll ride back to Fort Pinta and retunite with Gunther. Maybe we’ll see you there later? We’ll tell James how kind you’ve been to us.

Objectives: Return to Steve’s farm, give Steve the shovel and tell him what happened.

Rewards: 13 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Update Steve about the holes after you return his shovel.

steve

Thanks for helping them! What a relief that the horse wasn’t hurt, it could have ended really badly.

Quest completed

______________

On Field Scouting

steve

So you’re telling me that these holes are everywhere? They’ll destroy my crops and they’re dangerous for the horses. Imagine what would happen if more horses get stuck? Maybe we won’t be so lucky next time…

Someone or something must have dug those holes and they’re too large to be made by mice…

Can you scout the area for a while and see if you can find anything suspicious? You can sit by the feeding station next to the holes. Report back to me if you see anything.

Objectives: Search for the origin of the holes in the field close to Steve’s farm. Sit by the feeding site close to the holes.

Rewards: 17 Jorvik Shillings, 65 XP

Scout by the feedbox. Now you’re like a regular spy…

steve

Nothing? Nothing at all? Oh no… You think you’re too visible out in the open and that whatever is making these holes will stay hidden as long as you’re there? Maybe you’re right. Let’s think about how you can watch the field without being seen.

Quest completed

______________

Can I Borrow Your Telescope?

steve

I know! Ride up to Mario at the observatory and ask him if you can use the large telescope! With that you can watch the field without anyone knowing you’re there.

The observatory is in the mountains north of Hollow Woods. It’s easiest to ride along the north side of the forest and follow the road which starts there.

Objectives: Ride up to the observatory, it’s in the mountains to the north. There is a path north of Hollow Woods that will lead you there. Talk to Mario about borrowing the telescope.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

This trail connects to the road leading to Valedale. Follow the road past the windmill north, and the trail starts at the big curve in the road right before Valedale. It’s off the left hand side (riding towards Valedale) and can be a little hard to see.

quest-observatory_trail

mario

Hello, yes, I’m Mario. You said your name was Rita? What a cute name. What a fantastic horse you have! Brave of you to ride up the difficult path. Welcome to the Archeological and Astronomical Society of Jorvik Observatory. The observatory has a giant telescope we use to look at the stars.

Quest completed

Return to Mario tomorrow to continue this story line.

Collect Fallen Stars

mario

Hm. I’m very busy here, as you can see. Important things are happening in the sky. But maybe you can help me? Yesterday night I saw that some beautiful shootings stars and fragments of stardust landed close to the observatory. I can’t get to them in this difficult terrain, but you have a horse and you’re such a good rider so I know that you’ll be able to find them

Can you please collect six star stones for me? I think you can find fragments all round the mountain on which the observatory stands.

Objectives: Find six star stones in the mountains around the observatory and give them to Mario.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

The star stones can be found on the ground across the bridge and down the hill from the bridge. They’re small but send up little puffs of star dust that can help you find them in the grass.

Return to Mario when you have found six of them.

mario

Look at them! Exciting! Can you believe they come from outer space and you’re the first human to touch them? It’s breathtaking. I’ll examine them later.

______________

Snowed in Once Too Often

mario

Hello Rita. Mon Dieu, the winters are terrible! Every year I get snowed in here and I sit in the observatory for months without seeing a single other living thing. Well… maybe a lemming or two but that isn’t really the same thing. Sigh… The whole route up here gets covered in snow and ice and avalanches fall almost every day. It is a life threatening trip to get up and down this mountain. Enough! I’m not doing this anymore!

I’ve written to the council in Silverglade to see if they can do anything about this. Yesterday I actually got an answer and the Councilman in Silverglade wants to speak with me. Can you ride down and see what he has to say? Just imagine if he has a solution to this problem!

Au Revoir Rita! Come see me when you find out what he has to say.

Objectives: Ride down to the Councilman in Silverglade and speak with him about Mario.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride back down the trail, back to Silverglade and speak with the Councilman.

council_man

Good day! Yes, I have been working hard on finding a solution to Mario’s problem. Both on finding a solution and finding a way around the paperwork problems with it. It hasn’t been easy!

I wrote to Mario to let him know that the boss of the construction company we hired to solve the problem is now here in Silverglade. He is waiting in the town square for Mario to come and show him the observatory.

Now that you are here maybe you can help him instead? Go and speak with him Rita, he is standing by the fountain in the town square.

Quest completed

Speak with Buildmaster Olaf, who is standing in front of the fountain, facing the north gate to the village.

Meet the Head of the Construction Company

buildmaster_olaf

Are you Mario? Nah… of course you are not. You are Rita. Nice to meet you! I am master-builder Olaf. Such a nice village here… It must be terrible to leave here to go to work. But such is life!

The first thing we need to do is inspect the site to see what we need to do… should we build a tunnel… or a new road… we need to look for the best solution. Take this camera and ride up to North Link where they are digging a tunnel. Find a place to take some pictures where we can see the observatory clearly. While you take some pictures I’ll get a ride up there. We’ll look at your pictures up there and talk about it. I’ll meet you at North Link later.

Objectives: Ride up to North Link and find a good pace to take pictures of the observatory. Take some pictures of the observatory and speak with Olaf again later at North Link.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15  XP

You can reach North Link by following the West Jorvik Highway north all the way up to the construction site. It is on the east side of the road.

Once you take the pictures, Olaf can be found on the little side road going off to the west of the main road, by the Baroness’ racing track.

buildmaster_olaf

There you are! Now we’ll have a look. Nice pictures!

Quest completed

______________

Foundation for Foundations

buildmaster_olaf

I see. Now that I’ve had a chance to think about it I think I know what to do. The mountain is too steep to build and a tunnel would be very expensive. The best choice, in my opinion and I am an engineer so I am right, would be to build a new gondola lift! If we are lucky we can use the foundations from the old line to build a new one. There must be more locations than we see in your pictures. Look for all the old foundations and place GPS locators on them. Once you have put out the GPS locators I can see them on my device here. When I can see the locations we can tell if we can use them or not.

Objectives: Find the old foundations for the old gondola lift and place GPS locators there. Ride back to master builder Olaf when you are done.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

The first foundation is across the road. The others are behind the first, north up towards the observatory. There are five of them in total.

buildmaster_olaf

Great. Now we’ll check my machine here…

Quest completed

______________

Fire in the Hole!

buildmaster_olaf

Hrmmm… The old foundations are no good to us to use. They’re too badly built and too damaged to be safe. We need to build new foundations but first we need to get rid of the old ones.

Have you used dynamite before? No? Really? It isn’t hard. Just read this brochure…

“Instructions for Dynamite Use

1. Place the dynamite on what you want to get rid of.

2. Light the dynamite.

3. RUN!!!”

There… now you know as much about dynamite as I do. Blast away all the old broken foundations and we will build new ones. Good luck and be careful!

Objectives: Dynamite away all the old foundations. Speak with Buildmaster Olaf when you are done.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Once you light the dynamite, you’ll have about ten seconds to run like hell. You’ll be safe by the next foundation.

And do not blow yourself up. If you do, you will have to restart the game, as the quest doesn’t reset correctly when you start it over.

buildmaster_olaf

Boom boom boom! What a fantastic bunch of explosions! They must have heard that all the way in Firgrove.

Quest completed

______________

Used is Best

buildmaster_olaf

I planned, thought some more, then planned some more while you were gone. We need a gondola lift to put up, so I searched and found one from the Alps that we are thinking of buying. It is solid and complete and best of all, cheap!

I’ve written up a purchase order letter. Please ride over to Derek at the post office and ask him to send it.

Objectives: Ask Derek in the Silverglade post office to mail the order for the Gondola Lift.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

The post office is in the main square next to the town hall.

derek

Hiya Rita. A letter to the Alps? You are lucky, I was just going to send out all the international mail with the helicopter. Come back tomorrow and maybe you’ll have your answer. These things usually go quickly.

Quest completed

Return to Derek tomorrow.

The next person that needs help is Marley. He is on the road between Silverglade Village and the Winery.

A Permission for Marley

marley

Hello! I’m Marley. I’m so happy that someone came by. You see, I have some problems but maybe you can help me? So here’s the thing, I ordered this fantastic paddock at J-Buy.com, isn’t it amazing? Anyway, it seems that you need all kinds of papers, documents and permissions when you build something like this, who would’ve known? So, I wonder if you can ride to Silverglade Village and talk to someone in the council and ask them to write the papers I need. Without them I don’t dare continue building this wonderful track I have planned.

Objectives: Ride to the council in Silverglade Village and get the documents so Marley can use his paddock.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Speak with the Councilman in Silverglade about the documents.

council_man

A new paddock. Not my area of expertise, sorry, you need to see my colleague Mr Bucket. But unfortunately he isn’t here right now.

Quest completed

______________

Looking for Mr Bucket

council_man

If you really need this document right now I think it’s best if you try to meet Mr Bucket at once. He’s been away for a couple of days now, trying to find evidence that the construction workers at the North Link are using illegal means to build the tunnel.

Ride to the tunnel construction site at the North Link, north of the Everwind fields, if you want tofind him. I’m sure he stands on top of a hill so he can see what’s going on. Follow the road going north from the village.

Objectives: Ride to the construction site outside the North Link, north of the Everwind fields, and find Mr Bucket. Follow the road to the north.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Mr Bucket stands on top of the hill at the north end of the West Jorvik Highway. The hill is east of the road and right next to the entrance to the construction site.

mr_bucket

Shhhh, try to be quiet…

Quest completed

______________

GED – o – Gel

mr_bucket

Permission to build a paddock. Yes well, that’s not very important right now! I suspect that the workers down there are using GED – o – Gel, a very hazardous industrial adhesive, to seal the walls of the tunnel.

I have an idea. If you can find proof that I’m right I’ll give you those documents right away. Away you go! Look among the containers below the hill, I think they’re hiding the packaging there.

Objectives: Find proof that the construction workers are using GED – o – Gel for the tunnel. Search among the containers.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Go down to the construction site and search in the big shipping containers for proof.

Return to Mr Bucket when you have found it.

mr_bucket

I knew it! Those insidious crooks are using prohibited substances to be able to build faster. If it leaks out into the nature it can pollute everything around here for hundreds of years. But I’ll teach them a lesson, you’ll see. This will delay their construction by a day or two before their army of lawyers find new loopholes in the contract.

Quest completed

______________

The Paddock is Ready

mr_bucket

Ok, here are the documents you needed. I wrote them while you were away. Good job by the way, if I didn’t mention it earlier.

Ride carefully on your way back to Marley.

Objectives: Return to Marley with the documents. Marley is at the new paddock outside Silverglade Village.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Marley will be glad with these documents.

marley

Really, Rita? That was fast! Thanks a lot, but I have more problems… I have to think this over, come back later so we can talk some more.

Quest completed

______________

Paddock Control

marley

Hi Rita, you’ll never believe me when I tell you this. You need a permission if you want to arrange competitions. Can you help me with this?

Ride to the Vineyard and see if you can find my brother Carney. He’s a licensed equestrian competition inspector and can help me with this. Ask him to come over right away and approve my paddock.

Objectives: Ride to the vineyard and talk to Carney.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Carney is still up at the Winery by the stables.

carney

Oh, yeah, I’m a licensed equestrian competition inspector. Marley said that I should go over to him and approve his paddock? Hmph! You don’t talk like that to your older brother. I’ll come when I have time, right now I have to do some very important things!

Quest completed

Return to Marley tomorrow.

Donald the tailor would like to speak with you. Go see him in Silverglade Village.

Do You Want a Nice Riding Jacket?

donald

Hello Rita! I’d like to thank you since you’ve been so kind and fetched wool for me every day. If you can get some dye for my wool I can sew  nice riding vest as a thank you! Can you do that for me?

Objectives: Get a vest tailored.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Tell Donald that you would indeed like a nice jacket.

donald

How fun! I’m looking forward to making a nice vest for you!

Quest completed

______________

All the Colors of the Rainbow

donald

To be able to make this vest I need dye for the wool. I need blue, pink, red, green and purple. I’ve heard about some special flowers growing in Valedale, they contain a lot of pink pigment with a unique luster. You can ask Elizabeth in Valedale Village if she can help you.

Objectives: Ride to Valedale Village and talk to Elizabeth, ask her if she can help you find the flowers to extract dye.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

The best way to get to Valedale is the road past the windmill, all the way up to Valedale.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Hello Rita! If I can extract pink color from the flowers of Aideen? Of course! The flowers have a lot of special qualities, but I only want you to pick the ones that are withered. It won’t affect the color pigment and we preserve the protected, fresh flowers.

Quest completed

______________

Collect Flowers of Aideen

elizabeth_sunbeam

I need eight withered flowers to make this dye, look around in the forest and you’ll find them soon enough. You can only pick the withered ones. This flower is protected and the pigment is good even if the flower is withered.

Objectives: Pick withered flowers of Aideen. The flowers grow in the forest west of Valedale. You can only pick the withered ones!

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 45 with Keepers of Aideen

The flowers can be found mainly in the cow field across from Sophie, down the road.

Return to Elizabeth when you have collected the flowers.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Thanks for the flowers! Now I can make the dye for you. It’ll take a while so come back tomorrow when it’s ready.

Quest completed

Return to Elizabeth tomorrow.

Amazing Grains

barney

Here is the grain. Now bring that back to Steve and the birds.

Objectives: Bring the grain to Steve.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Do as Barney says and take the grain back to Steve.

steve

Wonderful! My birds can finally eat to their hearts content.

Quest completed

Feeding the Birds

steve

Would it be too much to ask if you fed the birds as well? Just put the grain on the bird tables and they will flock around you. I think some birds are fleeing from the Everwind Fields since G.E.D. has started to drill for oil over there. Poor birds.

Objectives: Put the grain on the bird stables to feed the birds.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 125 XP

The bird tables are scattered around the farm. Place the grain from your inventory onto the bird tables.

steve

Look how happy they are. I must say that you make an excellent bird feeder.

Donald the Tailor needs some help!

I Need More Wool!

donald

Rita! How are you? Now that you’re here, perhaps you could do me a favor. After this harsh winter I need to make a lot of warm jackets for people. You see, I’m out of wool at the moment, and as a tailor I depend on wool to make fabrics and thread to make clothes with. You should be able to get some more wool from the shepherd, Landon. Please run this errand for me, will you?

Objectives: Find the shepherd and ask him for some wool.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

The easiest way to get to the shepherd is to take the road north out of Silverglade Village, and after the large hill, take a right and he’s in the little field beyond.

landon

Well hello! What? You’ve come for wool? Oh, I’m afraid I have to disappoint you; I haven’t had time to shear the sheep yet. I’ve been too busy watching over them. I’m awfully afraid they’ll run away, you see, and that would be such a tragedy, don’t you think? I couldn’t stand losing another one of them.

Quest completed

______________

How to Shave a Sheep

landon

If it’s very important I could of course lend you some sheep shears and in that way you could shear the wool off them yourself. Do you want to help me with that?

Yes? You are a feisty young lady, I must say! Here you go then; take these sheep shears and cut off as much wool as you want.

Objectives: Use the sheep shears to cut wool from four sheep.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

You only need to shear four sheep so you can choose any four you want to shear.

landon

Nice work. Perhaps you should consider becoming a sheep farmer yourself some day? I work for the Baroness of Silverglade, do you know her? No? Ok, I guess you will meet her soon and probably start work for her like everybody else around here.

Quest completed

______________

Wool for the Tailor

landon

Say hello to Donald for me, will you? Now I’ve got to return to watching the sheep. I almost thought one of them was going, there, for a while. The Baroness would not be happy if I lost one… She is very upset right now over the new oil drilling project at the Everwind Fields.

Objectives: Take the wool to Donald, the tailor.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Donald is waiting for you.

donald

Beautiful! Looks like this wool has been cut off by a true professional and the sheep look great!

Quest completed

Looks like Harold needs help with something again.

Cookies to the Castle

harold

Once a month we deliver a jar of cookies to the castle. These are cardamom cookies; greatly appreciated by the Baroness. Will you take them there, please? Ride there on that beautiful horse of yours and it will take you no time at all.

I forgot to note the objectives and rewards for this one, sorry!

Take the cookies to the front gate of the castle.

self

“Nobody is answering the door. There’s nothing to do but head back to the shop. Unless you want to taste one of those cardamom cookies… they smell rather divine.”

Quest completed

______________

No Cookies to the Castle

self

“As nobody is answering the door, it seems the best thing to do is head back to the shop.”

Objectives: Return to the shop with the cookies.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Take the cookies back to Harold. And try not to eat any on the way back…

harold

The castle was closed? Nobody answered the door? You know, lately there’ve been some rumors circling around about that place. Someone said they heard what sounded like a girl crying from inside the building. Frankly, I don’t know what to think. The Baroness has seemed… anxious, lately.

Quest completed

______________

Bottles for the Butler

harold

If I have heard the crying? I can’t say I have. Actually, it kind of sounds like a silly ghost story to me. But hey, you could always ask the Baroness yourself when you see her.

The Baroness is the owner of the Silverglade Manor and the vineyards, you see. Her family, the Silverglades, run way back in history. They have been the most influential family in Jorvik since, I don’t know for how long, maybe hundreds of years.

Here are some wine bottle samples that the Baroness has requested. See if can deliver them to the butler, he should be at the winery. Ride carefully! The bottles are fragile.

I forgot to note the objectives and rewards for this one, sorry!

Take the gate out of the north of Silverglade Village and follow the road to the west to get to the winery.

godfrey

Miss? Oh, the bottle samples, very good. Thank you. What? Yes, the winter has been hard indeed, for the manor as well. How the Baroness is? You heard that she was very busy – I see. Well, one could say that; she’s had a lot on her mind lately with the G.E.D. exploiting the land and all. She’s building a new race track as well, which of course takes a lot of time and effort. But I’ll see that she gets these. Certainly, miss. Good bye.

Quest completed

______________

The Very Noble Stable

godfrey

Pardon? A stable? Why of course we have a stable here; the Silverglade Equestrian Center – the noblest stable in Jorvik, miss! You come from Moorland? Well, you should indeed pay a visit to the Equestrian Center; it houses some of the best performing horses on the island.

Why don’t you speak to Linda… hold on… what am I saying – not Linda! Ha, ha! Not Linda, miss. There are other stable girls over there, however. I think one of them is called Judy. Judy will be able to help you.

Objectives: Talk to Judy at the Silverglade Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Suspicious, at the very least. I’ll be back to you later Mr Godfrey…

Ride over to the stable and speak with Judy.

judy

Hi Rita! Of course I know who you are, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Judy by the way. I spoke to Thomas Moorland earlier and he told me that you and Summerblaze are really great together, like you truly bonded. That makes me happy since Summerblaze is the horse I used to ride when I first started out as a stable girl at Moorland. He’s a wonderful horse and deserves a rider that understands him.

Anyway, we’re short on people here since Linda went away. Thomas said that if you happened to come by, I could ask you if you would be willing to help out a bit here.

Quest completed

______________

Help the Equestrian Center

judy

Have you met the Baroness yet? No, it doesn’t surprise me. She’s been acting almost hysterical lately – when you actually see her, that is. It seems like she’s spending more and more time inside the castle, God knows what she is doing.

Will you please help out the stables until Thomas needs you again?

Objectives: Talk to Judy at the Silverglade Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Tell Judy you can help out in the stables.

judy

Thank goodness you said yes! Ok, so what we need you to do is give the horses hay and water, groom them and muck out the boxes. You can do this whenever you feel there’s the need. You’ll find detailed information on the notice board in the yard. I will be around if you need anything, but I doubt that you will have any problems. You look like a smart girl.

Quest completed

______________

Inspect the Water Pipes

judy

What we acutely need help with though, are the water pipes for the irrigation system in the fields. We just turned the water on and now the pipes are leaking. They must have broken down during the winter by the cold.

Do you think you could try to locate the leaks? Ride over there on Summerblaze, the terrain is a bit troublesome to walk on for you and me. When you find a leak, turn the knob and stop the water at that spot.

Objectives: Locate the eight leaks and turn eight knobs to stop the water.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Follow the orange highlights to the leaking pipes. All of the pipes are on the lower terrace of the vineyard, behind the stable.

judy

You found all the leaks? Fantastic! I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am to have you here!

Quest completed

The next character that needs help is Carney. He is standing behind Judy next to the fence around the stable.

Testing the Soil

carney

So, I heard you were riding around and was hoping that I could ask you for a favor. The thing is, we’re doing some tests on the soil around the vineyards and the results should be ready now. Would you be so kind as to check them for me?

Objectives: Check the soil test instruments and report back to Carney.

The tests are in the very back fields and can most easily be reached by taking the trail next to the Manor to go behind it. There is a bridge over the little gully, and the tests are on the other side of the bridge.

When you have visited all three of the devices, return to Carney.

carney

Interesting. Very interesting. Thank you so much for helping me with this.

Quest completed

______________

Grape Sprout

carney

And you know what; could you get me a sprout from one of the grapevines as well? We’ll perform tests on that too. Use these garden shears. I did send the girl Sonja for the sprout samples, but she couldn’t find any…

Objectives: Cut off a sprout from the grapevines and return to Carney.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 65 XP

The sprout can be found on the lower terrace behind the stable.

Also, if you didn’t notice, the shears Carney gives you is actually a rake…

carney

That’s it. Thank you, Rita. You are of really good help.

Quest completed

Judy needs help again.

The Riding Plumber

judy

Here are some tools that you can use to fix the water leaks you found on the pipes.

Objectives: Use the tools to fix the water leaks.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 95 XP

Return to the same pipes that you turned off, and fix them with the plumbing kit.

judy

Ok, great. Let’s hope that the pipes stay together for a while. We’ve got other things to do, haven’t we?

Quest completed

______________

Report to the Baroness

judy

You did a great job on the pipes, Rita. The Baroness herself was here earlier and complained about the leaks – she will be absolutely thrilled over the fact that you fixed them.

You know what, you should go over to the castle and tell her. Then you’ll get a chance to introduce yourself. The Baroness is a really good person to know around here. If you’re ever in trouble she will be able to help you with almost anything. If you make a good impression on her, that is.

Objectives: Go to the Baroness and tell her that you fixed the leaks.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Go north past the front of the Manor and the Baroness is on the other side, in front of the wall, beside a pile of grapes.

baroness

Hello there my dear, who might you be? Rita? Oh, you work in the stable, I see. I’m delighted to hear that the leaks are fixed and that you sent the grapevines to be analyzed, very good indeed. I’m afraid you’ll have to be off now, though since I have a lot of work to get to. I’m a little stressed out at the moment as you may be able to tell.

If you could help? Well, I’m sure you can’t help more than you already did, dear; these are some big issues I’m handling right now. I’m sure you’ve already heard about the construction company doing their best to destroy my land – “Global Energy Domination”, have you ever heard such a fatheaded, ridiculous name? They actually set up an OIL FIELD next to my vineyards. and our upcoming harvest will be as poor as ever. Oh my. I feel like a terrible evil has come to this island.

Quest completed

Return to the Baroness tomorrow.

After the Baroness’ little speech it’s time to go see another person. Follow the same trail you took to get the soil tests back next to the Manor and cross the little bridge to get to the Everwind Fields.

A Familiar Unhappy Face

mr_kembell

Well, well, well… What do we have here? So we meet up again… Well, to be honest with you I am not very happy to see you again. You really ruined my plans to bring down your little stable and build my houses there. Do you have any idea how much money I lost because of you!

Are you going to try to destroy more things for me now?

Objectives: Talk to Mr Kembell.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

More Mr Kembell brand melodrama at its finest.

mr_kembell

This oil is mine and only mine! Nothing will stop me from drilling for oil here, not even you! So take your stupid horse and go away! I don’t want to see you ever again!

Let’s go check on Thomas after his scare with the stolen documents yesterday.

Bringing the Copies to the Town Hall

thomas_moorland

I need you to make a visit to the town hall for me, ok? These copies of the deed should be there if something is to happen to the original. There will never be any doubt that I own this land again!

So listen up and I’ll tell you how to get there. Follow the Old Silverglade Road to the north, past the construction site. Don’t be afraid of the bulldozers, they won’t harm you. When you reach Firgrove Road, it’s time to take a left. There you’ll have the village. You should spend some time over there in order to get familiar with it.

Here are the documents. Hold on tight to them!

Objectives: Take the copies of Thomas’ deed to the town hall in Silverglade Village. In order to get there, take the Old Silverglade Road up north.

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 100 XP

I take the road past Nilmer’s Highland, myself, as I think that’s faster, but it’s up to you.

You’ll find the Council Man around next to the Town Hall.

council_man

And what have we here, young lady? Ownership documents from Mr Moorland, I see, I’ll file these in a safe spot.

Quest completed

Welcome to Silverglade Village! The quests for today will get you acquainted with the residents of the area. The first to meet is Felix. He has the cute little wagon down the stairs behind Town Hall.

Flowers for the Shop

felix

You know what? I’ve been thinking that my shop might use a little cheering up – especially in the back room. Do you think that you could pick some of those beautiful spring flowers that grow just outside the village? Five would be just enough, I think.

Objectives: Find five spring flowers and deliver them to Felix at the Rockville Shop.

Rewards: 60 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Apparently Silverglade is not one of those places where picking some of the local flora is illegal…

The flowers aren’t hard too find. They’re everywhere. Choose five, any five, and collect them, then return to Felix.

felix

Great, great, great! I love it! I will put them in a vase and have them in my back room to cheer me up!

Quest completed

The next character to meet is Steve, also one of my favorite characters in the game.

When the Cat is Gone

felix

Steve asked me to lend him my mouse traps. Since his cat has disappeared, he and his horses have some kind of problem with mice… I don’t have time to bring them myself, so can you do it for me? Please?

Here are the mouse traps. Steve lives at the farm just outside Silverglade Village, to the southeast.

Objectives: Take these mouse traps to Steve at the farm just outside of Silverglade Village.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Follow the orange highlight to Steve’s farm.

steve

Wow, great! There are my mouse traps. Thanks, my friend. By the way, did you hear that my cat ran away? If you see him around, bring him to me. There is a reward in it for you if you find him.

Quest completed

______________

The Cat Substitute

steve

Ok mate, I got the mouse traps, but as you can see I’m very busy and can’t put them out by myself right now. Maybe you could help me? Please? Before the mice eat up my farm house.

Take these and put them out on different spots.

Objectives: Set the traps around Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Place the traps on the orange highlights and return to Steve when you’re finished.

steve

Nicely done, mate! Don’t understand where the mice are coming from. On the nights I can hear strange sounds from the underground… I wonder if G.E.D. is drilling out the island of Jorvik from the inside?

Now we just need something to use as bait.

Quest completed

______________

Cheese Chase

steve

Hmm… My mate at the mill, Will the millman, has plenty of cheese in his storage. maybe you can ask him for some old cheese that we can use as bait? He lives just at the windmill to the north of here, you can’t miss it.

Objectives: Go to Will the mill man and ask for some old cheese for Steve.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Yeah, the windmill, you can’t miss it. You just can’t.

Will is standing off the road, near the windmill.

will

Ha ha ha, Steve has problems with mice at his farm? I see. Well, I don’t want to hurt the small cute animals. Let me think about what we can do to solve this… Give me a sec and talk to me again in a while.

Quest completed

______________

A Stinky Plan

will

Here I have some… cheese! My smelliest cheese ever! This will do the trick but Steve will never understand why. You see, the cheese stinks so much that the mice will flee the farm. This way we can both make Steve and the mice happy. Good solution, eh? So, here you are, I’ll let you take this to the farm.

Hey, if you ever need cheese again – feel free to come here, even if I happen to be somewhere else. My cheese is your cheese.

Objectives: Go back to Steve with the stinky cheese.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Mmm, cheese….

steve

Whoa, what is that horrible smell? Oh, I see, it’s the cheese that stinks… Well, great… I suppose.

Quest completed

Because for a second there I was gonna blame the horse…

/Obligatory fart joke

Happy Steve, Happy House, Happy Mice

steve

Then you just have to do one final thing for me. Can you please place this… very smelly cheese as bait in the traps? Good. That will solve the problem for me until my cat is back. Hurry up and save my farm house!

Objectives: Place the smelly cheese in every mouse trap so the mice won’t go near them or the farm. The mice are saved, and Steve’s problem is solved.

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 135 XP, Basic Training Jacket

Return to Steve when you’ve loaded all the traps with the cheese.

steve

Well done! I hope this will end the mouse invasion and save the farm house. I still wonder what’s going on underground at nights, that may be the reason for the mouse invasion, but I can’t investigate that now…

Quest completed

______________

Ask for Grain

steve

You’re lucky you weren’t here this winter, that much I’ll tell you. Never seen such a winter. I thought I had magically flown to Siberia, it was that cold! I felt sorry for the birds during that never-ending cold. How were they supposed to find food? and now these mice seem to have eaten what grain I had left in the storage. What am I supposed to feed them now?

If there’s someone who has his grain supplies filled, it’s Barney over at the silo. Would you be a star and go over there and ask for some?

Objectives: Go to the silo and ask Barney for some grain. The silo is just east of Steve’s farm.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Living in Wisconsin during the winters, I often think that myself.

Take the road to the east out to Barney’s silo.

barney

Grain for the birds? They had a rough winter, eh? We all did, didn’t we. I said to the wife that… that if I didn’t know better, I’d say that some gruesome, dark power reigned over the island that winter. But then again I’m getting old, aren’t I. Older than last year, anyway.

Quest completed

Return to Barney tomorrow.

Harold the baker, in Silverglade Village, needs some help.

Start from the Beginning

harold

Rita! I heard that it was you that saved Moorland from that terrible Mr Kembell! Well done. I was just going to start making pizza muffins when I found that I was out of flour. Would you please get some for me? You should be able to get it from Barney at the silo.

Objectives: Go to Barney at the silo and ask for some flour.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Pizza muffins? I’m intrigued…

Go back to Barney’s silo.

barney

Flour, you say? I don’t have any flour but I do have a lot of grain. Will that do?

Quest completed

______________

Mill It

barney

Here you are; if you take this to Will over at the mill, you can grind it into flour. By the way, I heard that Mr Kembell is now drilling for oil at the once beautiful Everwind Fields. Too bad.

Objectives: Speak to Will at the mill. Ask if he can grind the grain into flour.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP

Back up the mill hill we go!

will

Hello, what can I do for you? Oh, you want to use the mill? Sure!

Quest completed

______________

Milled and Ready!

will

Here we have some fine flour! You better get back to that shop with it.

Objectives: Head back to the shop with the flour.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 85 XP, Nice Top

Back to the shop with you!

harold

You have my flour? Perfect! These will be some fine pizza muffins.

Quest completed

And now what you’ve been waiting for as a star rider, to learn how to jump! Justin Moorland is waiting for you at Steve’s farm.

An Obstacle to Build

justin_mooland

Hello again Rita! I was out for a tour. Checking rune stones, you know. I was hoping to see you. Just wanted to see everything is fine with you.

Oh? You have not tried to jump yet? Let’s build a simple obstacle and I’ll see if I can give you a lesson. Collect some bars from behind the barn and build into a jumping obstacle right there on the pile of wooden boards.

Objectives: Find three bars to build a jump.

Rewards: 18 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Build the jump and return to Justin.

justin_mooland

That looks nice. Not too high for you, eh?

Quest completed

______________

Learn to Jump

justin_mooland

Ok, you are sure the bar is not too high for you? Let’s try it then. From now, you will be able to jump. It’s all about timing and skill. Get your horse up to canter speed and jump just before the bar. (Press “Space”, or “O” on the keyboard to jump your horse)

Objectives: Jump over the obstacle. (Press “Space”, or “O” on the keyboard.)

Rewards: 21 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Let’s do it already!

justin_mooland

Great work! You flew over that bar! From now on you can jump whenever you want but be careful. Being able to jump anywhere can be dangerous so take care. Be responsible and careful not to hurt yourself or your horse…

Quest completed

______________

See You Later!

justin_mooland

With better experience and gear you will be able to jump even better! Try riding faster and jump over different things so you and your horse learn how to do it. Practice makes perfect!

Objectives: Keep speaking with Justin about how to be a better rider.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Talk, talk, talk, all we do is talk.

justin_mooland

Great, I just want to make sure you really try hard to get better! It would be cool to see you beat the other girls and climb even higher on the high scores lists! Experience and the right gear is the way to do that. That’s all for now, I will say hello to Steve and then return to Moorland Stable. Take care and see you later!
