A Wonderful, Magical Vegan Witches’ Brew

nice_pi

So there we have it! A finished scarecrow!

Now we just need to bubble up a wonderful, magical vegan witches’ brew! First we’ll need a whole bunch of wood for the fire. We need to keep the cauldron bubbling and boiling because the brew can’t be allowed to go cold. If that happens, we’ll need to start over.

There’s plenty of wood outside the swamp. Check the ground between the swamp and the iron gate and you’ll be sure to find all the wood we need!

Objectives: Look between the swamp and the iron gate for wood to give to Pi.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Pick up wood around the outside of the swamp, then return to Pi.

nice_pi

Looks like you found plenty of wood. This’ll be enough for our brew with plenty left over to keep my swamp tea warm! Great work Rita.

Now we just need to find all the ingredients we need. I’ve found organic, locally-produced alternatives to original ingredients, so this’ll be just great!

Quest completed

______________

Instead of Goat Mucus

nice_pi

Instead of goat mucus, a classic ingredient in witches’ brews, we’re going to use completely standard swamp water. Okay, so maybe the brew won’t be quite the same perfect shade of puke-green as it would have been if we’d used goat mucus, but it’s just as powerful! I hope you agree that it’s a worthwhile sacrifice, Rita?

Good to hear. Now you’re no witch, but you may understand that many, less progressive witches would be green, well, greener around the gills if they heard this kind of new-fangled talk!

Here’s a bottle; fill it up with swamp water from the jetty down below my house.

Objectives: Fill the bottle with swamp water from the jetty beneath Pi’s house, then give her the bottle.

Use the bottle from your inventory in fill it up from the platform directly beneath Pi’s house, then return to her with the full bottle.

nice_pi

Well look at that, a bottle filled with swamp water. Nice work.

Quest completed

______________

Swamp Celery Does the Trick

nice_pi

I’ve been thinking about this for a long while. It was pretty hard, but in the end I arrived at the answer of just what could be used to replace bat wings. It’s tough to find good replacements from the plant kingdom, mainly for flavor’s sake, but I think I’ve found a solution. Swamp celery does the trick just as nicely!

Swamp celery is growing all over the place, so it won’t be hard to find some. Come back when you’ve found enough.

Objectives: Pick swamp celery from around the swamp and then head back to Pi.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride along the boardwalks in the swamp to pick enough swamp celery, then return to Pi.

nice_pi

Here you come with a load of swamp celery. Great!

Not quite as refined a flavor as bat wings, but it should give our witches’ brew a crisp and tangy aftertaste. Believe me, witches’ brew and aftertaste aren’t usually words that are found together in the same sentence!

Quest completed

______________

Black Toadstools

nice_pi

Newt legs. That’s all I’m saying. Newt legs.

This ingredient was a pretty tough nut to crack, Rita! Ten cups of swamp tea later though, I had an epiphany!

Black toadstools! How did nobody think of this before? Well, actually, it’s not so strange. Black toadstools have a tendency to, well, kill people. Heh.

The upside of this is that we won’t be drinking the brew, so it shouldn’t be a problem Just be careful when you’re picking them Rita, because black toadstools are Jorvik’s most poisonous mushroom. Won’t be a problem, right?

Good Rita. Just be careful. The closest place you’ll find black toadstools is up by the fallen gate on the Old King’s Road. It’s the road to the right when you come out of the swamp.

Good luck!

Objectives: Gather black toadstools by the fallen gate on the Old King’s Road, then return to Pi.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

As soon as you exit the swamp, turn right and run all the way to the top of the hill. Pick enough toadstools, then return to Pi.

nice_pi

You found some black toadstools! Great stuff.

Let me just take those off your hands… Carefully… You wouldn’t want to touch these with your bare skin, Rita, then things can go really very seriously wrong. Hehe!

Oh, umm… I didn’t say that to you earlier? Ah.

Erm… Sorry.

Quest completed

______________

The Advantages of Vegan Witchcraft

nice_pi

Right then, that’s all the ingredients. Just need to throw them all into this cauldron here… There we go!

Now you’ll see Rita. One of the advantages of vegan witchcraft that I noticed is that it goes a whole lot faster than when I’m brewing witches’ brews!

Tada! See? Already done.

Now we just need to pop our scarecrow friend into this big cauldron of witches’ brew.

Ah, there we are. And now we wait…

…

…

Ba ba ba baaaaa…

…

…

Nice day out, eh?

…

…

Did you see who went out of Jorvegian Idol last night? No? Oh…

…

…

Have you heard anything about some construction work at Moorland? No? Just a rumor? Hmm…

…

…

…

Doo-bee-doo-dooooo…

There! Done!

Look Rita! The scarecrow! It’s alive!

Objectives: Let the witches’ brew do its work!

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Heeeee liiiiivvveeesssssss…….

nice_pi

Haha! What a brilliant scarecrow we’ve got now Rita! Brilliant. This vegan witchcraft is a force to be reckoned with!

Quest completed

______________

The Scarecrow Commute

nice_pi

Here’s the new scarecrow, Rita. I’ve named him Crowy McCaw. Suitable, I think! Crows crow and crows caw! Crowy McCaw!

You just need to bring him to Jasper and he’ll get to work without delay. Let Jasper know he needs to take good care of Crowy McCaw, and tell him that he’s welcome over here sometime for a big steaming cup of swamp tea!

See you soon Rita!

Objectives: Bring Crowy McCaw the scarecrow to Jasper.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Ride with Crowy and escort him to Jasper’s farm, then speak to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Hello there Rita. What do you want?

…

That’s amazing! Oh wow, what a brilliant scarecrow! He moves and everything! Haha!

Quest completed

______________

Jasper’s New BFF

old_man_jasper

Haha, Rita! That’s not a bad scarecrow right there!

He’s called Crowy McCaw, you say?

Crowy McCaw. Sounds like a good name for a scarecrow. Have you seen?

He looks pretty excited to get over into the pumpkin field and start scaring crows! Haha, go on Crowy McCaw!

Go on, you good thing!

Objectives: Make sure Crowy McCaw gets to the pumpkin patch, then talk to Jasper again.

Rewards: 40 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP, Jasper’s Old Shirt

Ride out to the middle of the pumpkin field to show Crowy where he should go, then speak to Jasper again.

old_man_jasper

Crowy McCaw and I are getting along famously. Many thanks Rita, I knew I could trust you. Here’s a little gift to say thanks for all your help. It’s not much, but I hope you’ll appreciate it.

I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon. Now I’ve got to get going and watch Crowy McCaw at work.

Go on Crowy! Go on fella! Scare those flying thieves away! Hahaha! Go on, you good thing!

Scarecrows on the Loose!

old_man_jasper

Have you seen?! It is terrifying! The scarecrow! It has come to life again and floated away! It isn’t where it is supposed to be in the pumpkin field!

Travelers in the area say they have seen it floating around and it has been scaring people all the way from here to Goldenleaf Forest. Do you think you could catch it and put it back in the field again?

Objectives: Look for the escaped scarecrow and put it back in the pumpkin field. It has been seen between the pumpkin farm and Goldenleaf Forest.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings

Pick up the wayward scarecrow on its wanderings, on the road between Jasper’s farm and the trail into Goldenleaf Forest. Once you find the scarecrow, return it to Jasper’s field. Speak to Jasper when you have returned it.

old_man_jasper

There. It is back where it is supposed to be again. I hope it stays put and doesn’t decide to run away again. The only thing it needs to do is sit there and look scary. How hard can it really be?

______________

Jasper’s New, New Scarecrow

old_man_jasper

Hmph. Well of course, Rita. Of course it was going to turn out like this. That darned scarecrow!!

What am I going to do now? Should I just stand here and guard my pumpkins myself while all these hideous birds gorge themselves silly on them every time my back’s turned? This new scarecrow doesn’t seem to be much use at all. Worthless. Useless! Just like everything else these days!

Soon enough, those rats of the sky will be back, scavenging and feasting on my beautiful pumpkins. The flying vermin haven’t got any respect to show an old man! You should know this, Rita, when I was a boy, birds knew how to behave themselves. They showed respect! It was better in those days, which isn’t a surprise because EVERYTHING WAS BETTER IN THE OLD DAYS. EVERYTHING!

Hmph.

Don’t look so happy, Rita! Don’t you come here and make light of my misery, standing there with a big grin on your chops like a cat who got the cream! You’ll see another side of me if you carry on like that!

Hmm? What do you mean, you just want to help?

Hmph!

Well, if you’re so fixed on the idea of helping me, you could ride to Pi and tel her I want to order a new scarecrow from her. It should be one that moves and is just as scary, if not scarier than the one at Scarecrow Hill. Make sure she knows it’s not to be as useless as this one I’ve got now! Lazy and worthless… I don’t want any more such insufferable types hanging around my pumpkins!

Then you’ll also need to tell Pi that my new scarecrow should only rage at actual birds, and nothing else… That’s an important detail! My legs aren’t what they used to be, so I don’t want to be chased around by some deranged monster! Let Pi know that. You know where she lives, over in the middle of that miserable swamp.

Now you’ll have to get going, I’ve got other things to do. I’m sure I just heard something caw!

Bye!

Objectives: Ride to Pi and explain Jasper’s scarecrow problem

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Ride up through Northgate and follow the boardwalks to Pi’s house. Don’t fall in the swamp water! Yucky!!

nice_pi

Hello Rita! How lovely to have a visitor, I don’t get so many of those these days!

Quest completed

______________

An Organic Alternative for a Witch

nice_pi

So, Jasper wants a scarecrow? Like the ones up at Scarecrow Hill?

Well, it was me who enchanted those scarecrows, turning them into the terrifying flying monsters they are today, so I can’t see it being a problem. However, it’s very much a problem.

As you may remember, I wasn’t exactly the kind-hearted beauty you see before you when I cast the spells that made the scarecrows scary. In fact, I was rather evil. And green. I didn’t really pay much attention to how awful the bewitchments and curses I was casting actually were, but now all of my magic has a firm basis in ecological ethical responsibility. It’s completely vegan witchcraft, great for the environment! I was thinking about applying to have my special brand of vegan witchcraft ISO-certified!

You understand though, right? I’ve stopped mixing brews and potions with frog’s eyes and bat’s wings and newt’s legs… Now I just use ingredients from the herbal and plant kingdom! It works just as well as before, but all of my old conjurations are now unusable. These days I try to find new versions of the old formulas and spells.

So by all this I mean: it’s doable, but I need to give it some thought. Here, be a darling and fetch me a cup of organic swamp tea… It always gets me going in the right direction in the brain department. That whole cauldron over there is full of it, so just take my cup and fill it up!

Objectives: Fill Pi’s cup with swamp tea from the cauldron, then give her the cup.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Mmm…. Swamp tea…

nice_pi

Aaaaaahhhh, swamp tea! Mmmmm…

Now I can see all the pieces falling into place! The first thing we need to do is build the actual scarecrow. When it’s done, we can start thinking about the magic spell.

Quest completed

______________

Any Old Random Sack

nice_pi

We need a sack. Easy, you say?

It certainly isn’t as easy as you think, Rita. I can’t make scarecrows from just any old random sack. Obviously I need a sack made from certified fair trade materials woven by people with ethical working conditions, otherwise I’m afraid I won’t be able to use it.

Where you’d find a sack like that?

Hmm… Ask Jasper. He might know.

Objectives: Ask Jasper if he’s got a sack made from certified fair trade materials woven by people with ethical working conditions.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Why Jasper would know about hippy things like this, is beyond me, but worth a shot…

old_man_jasper

A sack? Of course I’ve got a sack.

A sack made from certified fair trade materials woven by people with ethical working conditions? What on earth is this nonsense you’re talking?!

Quest completed

______________

A Fancy, Schmancy Luxury Sack

old_man_jasper

Yeah, what did you say, again?

A sack made from certified fair trade materials woven by people with ethical working conditions… Why in the name of hot fudge sauce would I have one of those? Are my regular old sacks not good enough, huh? Only a fancy, schmancy luxury sack will do for little fancy princess Rita, eh?

What’s wrong with a proper old sack made with my own hands from fabric I’ve grown and woven myself? Hmm? I’ve even got some kind of stupid certificate and ugly stamp from the Council to say it’s environmentally climate trade change trade efficient or whatever gibberish they came out with. Regular old hand-made sacks are obviously not enough for sniffy Miss Fancy Witch. Hmph!

What?! That sounds like exactly the kind of sack she’s after?

Mm. Why didn’t you say so?

Bah! I’ve got hundreds of sacks over there in that box. You can take one, but show it to me first. I shouldn’t think I’d let you take one of my best sacks just so that witch can strut around and show off.

The sacks are in one of those boxes over there. Use this crowbar to open them up, since I nailed them together pretty hard to stop thieves having a go on my sacks.

Objectives: Get a sack from Jasper’s box and show it to Jasper. Use the crowbar to be able to open the boxes.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Dismount your horse to enter the building next to Jasper’s house, then use the crowbar from your inventory to open the box in the attic. Return to Jasper when you have found a suitable sack.

old_man_jasper

Hmph! So you found a sack?

Quest completed

______________

A Certified Sack

old_man_jasper

Bah! Take the sack and get out of here. I can’t be bothered with any of this nonsense anymore. I need to focus on my pumpkin patch, otherwise those darned birds will take the chance to gobble up every last pumpkin while my back’s turned.

What are you doing still standing here? Take the sack to Pi and beat it! Hmph.

Objectives: Take Jasper’s sack to Pi the witch.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Return to Pi with the first piece for the scarecrow.

nice_pi

You found a sack! Are you sure it’s made from certified fair trade materials woven by people with ethical working conditions?

Jasper made it himself and it’s got the Council’s organic and ecological seal, you say? Well then that’s just lovely!

Quest completed

______________

Hay Bale or Cockroach

nice_pi

We need hay to stuff the scarecrow. As luck would have it, I know where you can find the exact hay I need. Carin at Goldenleaf Stables uses only organic hay, biodynamically grown.

If you ask her nicely, she’ll probably give you a bale. If she doesn’t give you any, tell her I’ll turn her into a cockroach! Those are her options: hay bale or cockroach.

Mm, actually that’s not really very nice.

Sorry Rita.

Sometimes that old Pi creeps back in and reminds me of my old personality. Let Carin know I’d be very grateful if she could supply a bale of her lovely hay.

Forget anything I said about cockroaches…

Objectives: Ask Carin at Goldenleaf Stables for a bale of hay.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

I happen to raise cockroaches and find them to be quite charismatic little critters. I wouldn’t mind being turned into one. Life would be much more simpler…

carin2

Hello there Rita! What can I do for you on a beautiful day like today?

Quest completed

______________

Hay Bales Don’t Grow on Trees!

carin2

You’d like a hay bale, you say? Well that shouldn’t be a problem!

Actually, you could help me with something first, if you don’t mind… Just now, a truck arrive with this week’s delivery of hay, but a whole bunch of bales toppled off the truck as it was coming over the bridge from the fishing village. The driver, some dork named JB, said he hat do swerve to avoid a giant seagull that was attacking his vehicle…

So yes, since JB said he had to leave immediately for another delivery, the bales of hay are still bobbing in the water by the bridge. If you’d be a gem and collect them all from the water for me, you can take one of them for yourself. Sound like a deal?

Lovely! Hurry though, before the hay bales float out to sea!

Objectives: Pick up all the hay bales floating in the water by the bridge between the island and the fishing village, then return to Carin.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

All of the bales can be found floating near Longbridge. Return to Carin when you have picked up all of them.

carin2

Thanks for all your help, Rita. Great work.

Quest completed

______________

Hay Bales and Witches

carin2

Here’s a hay bale, as agreed. What do you want it for, by the way?

You’re giving it to Pi, you say? Hmm… Are you sure that’s a good idea? Can you really trust you her? Yeah, yeah, I suppose you know her better than I do. Take the hay bale to Pi.

Seeya!

Objectives: Take the bale of hay to Pi.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Return to Pi with the second piece for the scarecrow.

nice_pi

I see you got a bale of hay from Carin…

Hey, umm… You didn’t say anything about me threatening to turn her into a cockroach, right?

You didn’t? Great!

Quest completed

______________

Finding a Rope Expert

nice_pi

To be able to make a scarecrow, we need rope. I don’t know very much about rope though, but the fishermen over in Cape West Fishing Village should have some know-how! Check if you can find someone there who’d be able to help.

Don’t forget that it needs to be organic rope without preservatives, additives, colorings, or any other jiggery-pokery!

Objectives: Find a fisherman in Cape West Fishing Village who can help you out.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Mr Trout is quite knowledgeable, let’s ask him about rope!

mr_trout

Hello there Rita! You’d like some rope, you say?

Well of course I’m sure we can arrange that!

Quest completed

______________

Searching Like a Crazy Seal!

mr_trout

You came to the right person for rope, Rita! Nobody knows more about rope than me!

If you’d just help me with one little problem I’ve been having, I’d happily give you any rope you choose! What is it I need help with, you ask?

Well, there’s been a few miniature disasters and minor catastrophes here. My very best fishing lure has disappeared! Without it, I’m not getting any nibbles in the water, so I’m sure you’ll understand just how important this is!

What happened?

Well, here’s how it was: I stood here in the harbor, fishing as normal. Then I saw really huge fish over there by where the boat comes in. Just imagine, it could have been General Sherman… Five hundred pounds of bottom-dwelling fury! Anyway, the thought of catching such a huge fish was way too much! I told myself I had to try and catch it, so I ran and ran all the way along the harbor, but since I’m not much of a runner, I slipped and the fishing line went flying, along with my best lure. I tried to see where it went but it was hopeless. Off it went, flying through the air faster than a rabid eel. Seems like it flew off in the direction of the village.

I’ve looked all over the village for it, searching like a crazy seal, but it’s been fruitless… The lure is lost without a trace. It’s almost as though it grew legs and walked off, otherwise I’m sure I’d have found it by now.

If you can find it for me, I’ll give you however much of whatever kind of rope you want. Do you think you can help me?

Fantastic! I knew I could rely on you, Rita! Come back when you’ve found my lure!

Objectives: Find Mr K Trout’s fishing lure that seems to have disappeared somewhere around the village.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Walked away, indeed…. Stuck to the butt of the dock worker. Good thing he never sits down…

mr_trout

You found it! Wonderful!

What kind of rope is it you needed?

Quest completed

______________

Sooner Seaweed Than Titanium

mr_trout

You want a completely organic rope? Are you sure?

Right now, you’ve got the chance to choose absolutely any kind of rope you could ever want, so are you sure you don’t want a proper indestructible rope made of titanium and silk? Or a priceless rope made from gold and diamond?

Okay, okay, I won’t force you. If you’ve decided it’s organic rope you want, it’s organic rope you’ll get!

Now let’s see here…

There you go! Twelve feet of rope, made of locally-sourced seaweed. It’s not very strong and smells pretty bad, but more organic than this you’ll struggle to find.

Hope you get good use out of it! See you!

Objectives: Give the rope to Pi the Witch.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Return to Pi with the last piece for the scarecrow.

nice_pi

Oh look, you found some rope!

It smells vile… That must mean it’s truly super organic! Good work Rita!

Quest completed

Return to Pi tomorrow.

Help me read these books. I think there might be some important details here.

Objectives: Read the books and see if you can find what we are looking for…

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Read through all of the books set out on the table for you. I have underlined the important clues.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“The year of our Lord, 1218, October

It was a foggy and cold winter morning. Jon Jarl’s ships have been in dire straits for weeks. There is not enough food or fresh water left on board. The food stores were next to completely empty and the crew near death but they did not want to let their Jarl down.

Jon was convinced that they would find an undiscovered land out here in the ocean. God has shown hi a vision of the land and those visions were coming more often as time went by. Was Jon crazy? Or would he prove once and for all he was right? The crew was loyal and true and would follow him anywhere.

In the same moment, a crewman was thinking of jumping overboard to end his starvation, something happened. The fog opened before the ship to reveal rising cliffs above the waters.

Land ho! Land ho! We’ve spotted land!

It turned out Jon was right. Again. The first ship unfortunately never found out, as the large rocks that would later be called Tower Cliffs, tore out the bottom of the ship. All hands aboard were lost.

Jarl’s ship and the rest of the group turned away when they saw the fate of the first ship and they instead landed at a calmer beach down the coast a long way south of the Tower Cliffs.

There Jon first put his armored foot on the shore and climbed up a fifty-foot cliff, which would later be the site of their first fort, and shouted into the night: I a Jon Jarl, son of Jor! This land is now my land an will be called Jorvik and I will defend it with my life as long as I live and with my soul when I am dead!

Thunder boomed down from the mountains. If Jon and his crew had not been so relieved at their landing, they might not have noticed the sound was not thunder, but a huge herd of wild horses frightened by his shouts. Their new land would be richer than they ever would have imagined”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“Out of Nic Stoneground’s Travel Diary, 1989, vol.12:

I was very impressed by the giant statue that has been erected here. The old fort is watched over by the huge statue of the former Governor Gareth. With only a cannonball and a boat hook he defended Jorvik against the continental pirates. Without his bravery, Jorvik would have been lost. This is the reason for the statue.

quest-diary_drawing

The location was a natural choice, when Jon Jarl landed in 1218 and built Jorvik’s first fort. Governor Gareth modernized the old fort in the 1600s using the most up-to-date defense construction techniques.

Gareth was proud of the fact that his ancestors had traveled with Columbus on his first transatlantic voyage in 1492 and therefore named the fort after the famous sister ship of the Santa Maria.

During the extensive renovations it is said that Gareth found a number of very interesting artifacts in the walls of the old fort. It is also legend that Gareth still watches over a very unique artifact himself from beyond the grave. The artifact apparently has something to do with the sun.

Some day I will find the time to investigate these stories more thoroughly… But today I have an exciting church ruin to visit. But this was fascinating I have to say.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

“The funeral of Jon Jarl was held on a bleak autumn day in the year 1263. During the last forty-five years since Jon had ruled Jorvik, and had never left since the day he first claimed the island as his own. He fought hard for many years but was viewed as a just and popular ruler who tried hard to unite the many small kingdoms that emerged on the island. Anyone who stood against Jon would face a very dangerous enemy.

Well, everyone knows of his exploits and the history books explain it well. The funeral was a huge even with many guests representing nearly all the clans of Jorvik. One clan in particular was the Silfer Clan of Jon’s descendants who still make their home in Silverglade today. Even the local druids attended who had a good relationship with Jon Jarl.

The funeral lasted three days and was followed by a month of official mourning and peace on Jorvik.

The actual burial was in a crypt not far from the Tower Cliffs where the first of his ships had sunk when he had discovered Jorvik. From there he could eternally watch over his mighty castle to the south.

The great crypt consisted of several rooms, the portal to each room was sealed with a magical rune stone that could only be opened with a special magical key. A Sun Key, a Moon Key, a Lightning Key, and a Star Key. These magical druid seals have been forgotten with the passage of time.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-

When you are done reading the books, speak with Linda.

linda

I don’t get it. Do you? If you think you know what we are looking for, have a look and see if you can find it.

Quest completed

All of the clues point to the Sun Key being located at the statue in Fort Pinta. Let’s go there and see what we can find.

The Sun Key

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Go into Jarl’s Crypt, north of Fort Pinta, and try to use the Sun Key on the first door. When you open the door, go into the next room of the crypt. Are you afraid of ghosts?

Objectives: Tell Jon Jarl who you are.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

I come in peace!

jon_jarl_ghost

Rita? Hmmm… I’ve never heard of you… But I guess many years have passed since I began my eternal rest. I may help you but first you must convince me of who you really are what you truly stand for.

Jarl’s Riddles

jon_jarl_ghost

So you want the fragment of Aideen’s Light? I can give it to you if you convince me you are worth and have your heart in the right place. If I am satisfied with your answers I will give you a true fragment of Aideen’s Light.

Objectives: Answer Jon Jarl’s questions.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 30 with Keepers of Aideen

Pass Jarl’s test to get the fragment of Aideen’s Light.

jon_jarl_ghost

Honorable Rita, I understand now that you are a true supporter of the Keepers of Aideen.

Quest completed

______________

Fragment of Aideen’s Light

jon_jarl_ghost

I will meet you and give you the fragment as you act in the name of the druids. Know that the power of the fragment has not been activated, but the druids know what needs to be done.

I have rested for nearly eight hundred years and until now I have not awoken from my final peace.  I don’t feel I will participate in this final battle to protect Jorvik on the dangerous day. Aideen hasn’t yet called for me.

Farewell Rita. I return now to my final rest until the moment I am called. Give Fripp my regards!

Objectives: Ride with the fragment to Elizabeth, tell her what happened, and ask her how to activate the fragment.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 25 with Keepers of Aideen

Take the fragment to Valedale, and speak with Elizabeth.

elizabeth_sunbeam

What an adventure you have been on! You spoke with Jon Jarl’s ghost! And you got the fragment. I had heard the stories but never imagined they were true! Imagine that Jon Jarl remains our protector even after his death! Good to know if things go really bad at any point…

But now we need to figure out how to activate the fragment so you can use it.

Quest completed

______________

The Lifegiving Light of the Sun

elizabeth_sunbeam

I think you can charge and activate this fragment. After all, you have proven that you have special skills… Borrow my rune staff, ride up to the rune stones in the hills by my house and put the fragment in front of the sun stone and then charge it by activating the stone with the rod.

Come back to me when you’re done. I’m sure it will work. The sun’s life giving light will give the fragment the properties we need now.

Objectives: Place the fragment by the sun’s rune stone and activate it with the rune staff.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP, Fragment of Aideen’s Light

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride up behind Elizabeth’s house, and go to the rune stone with the sun pattern on it. Place the fragment on the ground in front of the stone, the use the staff to activate the fragment. When you are done, take both back down to Elizabeth.

elizabeth_sunbeam

You see, Rita! Aideen’s mystical powers are obviously flowing strong inside you. The fragment seems to be charged and ready to go…

Quest completed

______________

Let the Light Flow

elizabeth_sunbeam

Hmm, before you head off and expose yourself to danger in Scarecrow Hill, I think you should test that it works first. Do a test here and show me, so we can see that it works. I will see how powerful the light is and can determine whether it is good enough.

Objectives: To activate the fragment, click the button above your mini map.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

-Pulls out shades- Click the button on the side of your screen, above your mini map, to activate the fragment.

elizabeth_sunbeam

Wow, it was so bright! Very strong, but a light that shines that bright burns out much faster. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will last very long, but it will be effective, I promise. Its side effects may be dangerous though…

Quest completed

______________

Protected by the Light

elizabeth_sunbeam

Well, Rita. All that remains is to hope that the light will protect you against the magic that chained the scarecrows to the borderlands between our world and the unreal.

The bad news is that the charged fragment will only last for a minute or so, I think. So you can’t activate it until you are at the gate to Scarecrow Hill. But it should be enough time to get up to the tree on top of the hill and take the apple. If there is one…

But be on your guard. When forces like these are unleashed, they can unfortunately attract vicious shadow figures. No smoke without fire. No light without shadow. The stronger the light, the sharper the shadow. We better you’re lucky and avoid that… Be careful.

Good luck now! Don’t forget to activate the fragment when you’re at the gate to Scarecrow Hill! If you get hold of the apple, ride to Alex who is still waiting for you at the Northern Iron Gate.

Objectives: Activate the fragment when you are Scarecrow Hill gate. The button is disabled until you’re there. Find a golden apple at the top of the hill.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Go to Scarecrow Hill, and once you are at the gates, you will be prompted to activate the fragment. Once activated, run to the top of the hill, obliterating any magic scarecrows along the way. When you get to the top, grab the golden apple from the tree.

self

“You found the golden apple! At the same time, the power of the fragment just ran out. You better pick the apple and hurry out of here and ride to Alex at the Northern Iron Gate.”

Quest completed

______________

Escape from Scarecrow Hill

self

“You pick the apple! At the same time, something strange happens… What’s that?! A group of flying shadow witches show up, probably sent to stop you! They have materialized in the shadow of the strong light of the fragment. They intend to take the apple from you.

Ride away from them and do not stop until you reach Alex at the Northern Iron Gate. Don’t let them catch you with their magical sleep bombs!”

Objectives: Escape the shadow witches and don’t get hit by the sleep bombs! Bring the apple to Alex at the Northern Iron Gate when you get away from them.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

This quest is hard. Have patience, as it will probably take you a couple of tries to complete it.

Watch out for the marks on the ground, indicating where the sleep bombs will land. Adjust your speed to run past the circles before the bombs hit, or slow to let the bomb hit before moving through. Once you get some distance from Scarecrow Hill, the witches will stop pursuing you and you can continue running to the North Iron Gate. Speak with Alex there.

alex

Rita! Summerblaze! You look upset! What happened? And what’s that? A golden apple! You and your wonderful Summerblaze are truly heroes!

Quest completed

______________

The Apple and the Witch

alex

What a terrible story with the witches who were chasing you. Lucky that you got away, that could have ended very badly. When such immense power like Aideen’s Light is released, sharp shadows are cast into the magical unreality. I think the shadow witches materialized in the shadow of the holy light – as a kind of counterweight… Scary.

But at least we have the apple! Now we have to see if the legend is correct and that evil witches can’t resist the apple if they’re offered it by a pure soul. Go ahead Rita, try making the witch Pi nice again so she can tell us what we want to know.

Objectives: Ride to Pi and give her the golden apple.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Go past the North Iron Gate and into the witch’s swamp. You can find her still by her house to offer her the golden apple.

witch_pi

You again! Aren’t you tired of being a frog? Okay… Then I’ll enchant you again, but this time you’ll remain a frog forever so you can hop around in my swamp croaking and signing for me in the evenings.

Abracadabra…

Huh? What? You’ve got goodies?

But what’s this? An apple? Oh no! The golden apple! The one I can’t eat! But it looks so delicious… Don’t eat! But, ooohh, it looks sooo good!

It’s probably so very good.

I have to… I… Can’t! I can’t resist it…

…No! No, Pi! Nah, I can not resist it any longer…

Boohoo!

Yum!

Quest completed

______________

The Witch is Free

nice_pi

Oh…

Thank you for giving me the apple and made me good again! It can’t have been easy. I did everything I could stop anyone from picking the apple. But what misery I have done during my time as a wicked witch! And Klaus, my poor husband! He must have missed me.

Now there is much to do to restore order… You say that there’s one thing I can tell you that will help make things right again? Okay, ask away. Giving you answers is the least I can do.

Objectives: Ask Pi about Justin’s horse and what she knows.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Get the answers you need from Pi.

nice_pi

So you’re wondering what happened to Justin’s horse and where it would go after? Well… I was going to make Justin’s horse into a Dark Rider horse. I made three such horses for Dark Core while I was a witch and this would’ve been the fourth. I was almost done, but I think I can save this poor creature from ruin…

Anyway, I would make sure that the converted horse would be delivered to the docks at Moorland’s south shore for transport to Dark Core’s headquarters, which is located on a secret oil rig somewhere out at sea.

Hm, what day is it? Okay, I would deliver the horse tomorrow, that’s right. To the dock behind Moorland Stables. That’s what was agreed.

Quest completed

______________

A Brave Plan

nice_pi

I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done and now I’ll begin the work of making things right again. I should start by helping Justin’s horse back to its normal self again. Now take care, Rita. I hope my information was helpful.

Ride to your friend Alex so you can make the necessary plans.

Thanks again for freeing me from the wicked witchcraft.

Objectives: Plan with Alex.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride back out of the swamp and meet Alex by the North Iron Gate.

alex

Wow, it worked?! She was willing to talk now?

So the plan was to deliver the new horse to a transport at Moorland’s south shore tomorrow. Probably the same dock where we saw Justin and Sabine disappear on one of Dark Core’s barges…

You or I have to get there and pretend to be the supplier of the distorted Dark Horse tomorrow and make sure to board the transport. Once we’re on the oil platform we can hopefully find out what happened to Justin and perhaps save him! Do you dare accept such a dangerous mission? Or should I and Tin-Can do it?

Quest completed

______________

Secure the Escape Route

alex

You accept the mission? You’re really brave and I don’t doubt your ability. You and Summerblaze have truly shown that you’re a bold and clever team.

It’s important that you have a safe escape route. Alone at sea on a secret oil rig that nobody knows the location of makes you quite helpless…

You know a captain who owes you a favor? Smart. Talk to him, maybe he can follow the barge from a distance and come to your rescue or take you away from there if needed. Talk to your friend Captain Brus.

I’ll do some errands meanwhile and rest up a bit. I’ll see you later at the small dock on Moorland’s south shore, just behind the stable. I’ll hide there and keep watch.

What did you say, termites? Yes, let’s hope the captain fixed the problems with the termites in the mast…

Objectives: Ask Captain Brus to help with the escape route.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride down to Cape West Fishing Village and speak with Captain Brus at his place along Longbridge.

captain_brus

Arrrh! If I’m ready to sail? Well, Rita, I’ve never been more ready than now. I got rid of the darn termites. They went biting, so to speak. The mast contains so many metal parts that they got tooth ace and gave up their destructive chewing.

Quest completed

______________

A Final Word with Alex

captain_brus

If I can help a girl in need? By all the mermaids of the sea, of course I’ll help you! I owe you and I can never say no to an adventure at sea!

I’ll follow you when the transport takes you to the secret oil rig. Here, take this distress flair. Fire it when you want me to pick you up or if you need help. I’ll pick you up at the same place where I see you board the rig.

Trust me!

Under cover of the thick backs of the morning fog, I’ll secretly hide along the southern coast of Moorland. You won’t see us, but I promise that we’ll be out there. With me at the help, you can sneak up on anyone!

Now, don’t fire your distress flare unnecessarily before it’s time…

See you tomorrow! Good luck with your mission! Now ride to your friend and make up the final details of your plan. And remember, even though you won’t see my ship, I’ll be out there, ready to rescue you.

Objectives: Make up the final details of the plan with Alex who now scouts the dock behind Moorland Stables.

Rewards: 12 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride to Moorland, and meet with Alex. She’s standing in view of the beach, behind the stables, near Mrs Holdsworth’s house.

alex

Shhh… Have you seen, Rita, there’s already a creepy Dark Core guy there at the dock. He seems to be waiting for something. But… You could say that your friend Captain Brus is anything but discreet… He just arrived with lots of flare, filling up the whole bay with his ship!

I’ll stay here and ensure that you get on your way properly so I can intervene if something unexpected happens. I’ll stay here until you get back from your mission. Hope you can save Justin from his captivity! Don’t be afraid. You have Captain Brus and Summerblaze to help you!

See you tomorrow. Prepare for your adventure, be sure that you both are rested and your horse feels great.

Quest completed

Speak with the Dark Core guard tomorrow.

Let’s go work on our horseshoes again with Conrad.

Fourth Day of Blacksmithing

conrad_marsdeen

Follow my instructions carefully. Here are my tongs and hammer. Get ready!

Objectives: Use the tongs and the hammer to carry out the tasks Conrad gives you. Be careful and listen closely!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

You know the drill. Speak with Conrad when you are done with your work.

conrad_marsdeen

It is shaping up well. Now we need the iron to rest overnight. We can continue work tomorrow.

Hmm… Seems like the water bucket is nearly empty.

Quest completed

______________

More Source Water!

conrad_marsdeen

The water is running out quicker than I would have imagined. It is steaming off quickly when we are cooling the red-hot horseshoes. That shows that the new shoes are really full of energy… But without water, we can’t continue our work. Can you go back to the source of the Silversong River and collect more water? Here, take my bucket with you and use it.

Objectives: Fill Conrad’s bucket at the source of the Silversong River in Valedale. Give the water to Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

Go to Valedale and collect the water from the waterfall, then return to Conrad.

conrad_marsdeen

Great! Now we have enough water to finish our work forging your new horseshoes!

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.

Now let’s go see if the Council Man has found anything interesting about our ghost friend.

The Council Man Might Know

council_man

I went down into the archives and dug around a bit. I found the report on the accident. It turns out the bridge wasn’t built up to proper standards at all! G.E.D., the company who built the bridge, used old wood and substandard concrete to save money. It was a long time ago, and now G.E.D. is viewed as a respectable company… At least they seem to think so.

His wife, Mrs Hill, moved to Firgrove after the accident, according to the report. If you want to know more about her, you should speak to my colleague, the council man in Firgrove.

Objectives: Speak with the council man in Firgrove Village.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride to Firgrove and speak with Mr Franklin. Maybe he knows more.

mr_franklin

Mrs Hill? Yes, she lived here. I’m sorry to say it but she died many years ago. Was she a relative of yours?

Quest completed

______________

Another Ghost?

mr_franklin

Aha, not a relative then. Unfortunately, Mrs Hill has been dead for a long time now and her house has been torn down. So I’m not really sure what I can do to help you. I remember her quite well. She was an excellent dressage rider. It was always a bit sad to see her as she was heartbroken and never really recovered from her husband’s accident. The only time she really perked up was wen she would ride the competition track outside the village. She said it reminded her of her lost love.

I’ve heard the other villagers here say that they have seen her up there, along the track outside the village, after she died… But I don’t really believe it. You can ride around up there and have a look for yourself but I wouldn’t expect anything.

Objectives: Look for Mrs Hill outside Firgrove Village along the riding trail.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Mrs Hill can be found along the hard forest track. Go down to where Minka is, then follow the trail up onto the bridge with the two breaks in it. Mrs Hill is standing at the end of the bridge (or follow the trail in reverse, and she’s off the trail before the bridge).

Objectives: Speak with the ghost in Nilmer’s Highland.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Ride back to Nilmer’s Highland and speak with Mr Hill’s ghost.

mr_hill

My wife is in Firgrove? Balderdash!

Quest completed

______________

Ask the Ghost

mr_hill

My wife lives in Firgrove? What are you talking about? She lives here with me. If you don’t believe me, go in and look in my attic for yourself. All her pictures, books, and other things are up there like they always have been.

Objectives: Look in the house for anything that might convince Mr Hill that his wife doesn’t live there anymore.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Dismount your horse to go into the attic. Search through the boxes there, then return to Mr Hill when you have found something.

mr_hill

My goodness… That is my wife’s wedding ring! She never takes that off… What is going on?

Quest completed

______________

Meaningful Ring

mr_hill

How can her ring be here? She never, ever takes it off… I don’t understand… Is someone playing a joke on me? It doesn’t really matter, she needs to get her ring back.

My poor wife, she must be really upset. Take the ring… Find her for me please. I will be eternally in your debt.

“He seems really upset about her ring… Maybe I shouldn’t mention I found his ring too…”

Objectives: Take the rings to Mrs Hill.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride back to Firgrove, where you found Mrs Hill, and show her the rings.

mrs_hill

Oooo… Booo… Where is my love… Whaa?

That is my ring. And my husband’s! Where did you find them? Who are you?

Quest completed

Return to Mrs Hill tomorrow.

Now it is time. I thought I would watch the Southern Gate here. I thought you could watch the southern beach in Goldenhills Valley, just down from the broken bridge that goes over the ravine that makes a natural wall between the beach and the Goldenleaf Forest, you know. I’ve marked the place on your map.

I’ve sent other friends to other locations on the Golden Road, and around the Labyrinth Coast so I think we have the area quite well covered.

alex

Okay then Rita! Well followed! So the Dark Rider took Justin’s horse past the Northern Gate? What is up there and who’s there? Why are they taking Justin’s horse there? There are questions we’ll never know the answers to if we can’t get past that gate in some way… Do you have any good ideas?

You are wondering what is past the Northern Gate? Well youngsters, it was a long, long time ago that I was there… But I’ll try to remember.

Quest completed

______________

An Old Man Tries to Remember

old_man_jasper

My memory is letting me down. It was over twenty years ago that I last set foot in the area past the North Gate. It should be open after the winter, just like the Southern Gate, if I remember right… I might have heard that it has been locked for a decade since I left… And hasn’t been opened since. But now we need to see if I can remember anything about the area past the gate…

Objectives: Listen to Jasper and see what he can remember…

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Think, think, think!

old_man_jasper

That’s right… There was a wood and a nice summer house there! And a road that led to an old fort if I remember right. The summer house in the area was owned by Mayor Klaus and his adorable wife, whose name I can’t remember right now… Wow, that was a long time ago. I remember eating pumpkin ice cream on the porch in the summer…

Quest completed

A Chat with Klaus

Okay. It seems like someone is living beyond the Northern Gate and it just might be they are staying at the Mayor’s old summer place… Now we have something to check out. Ride over to Cape West Fishing Village and speak with Klaus. Ask him about his summer house and about his wife. Also ask to borrow the Key to the City so we can open the Northern Gate. I’ll watch the gate to see if the Dark Rider or anyone else comes out… Or possibly for anyone else coming in. We’ll see you there later.

Objectives: Speak with Mayor Klaus in Cape West Fishing Village about his old summer home.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Rewards:10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Stupid man… How silly of you to run away from a person on a horse…

You caught me Rita. A bit dumb of me to think I could just run away from you and your horse. I can’t run away from you and I certainly can’t run away from my past…

Quest completed

______________

The Tragic Wife

mayor_klaus

Oh well. You can’t run away from your past. I’ll tell you everything.

My wife and I were so happy together… And we had a wonderful summer house together beside a mountain lake north of the gate. But my wife became interested in hocus-pocus type things… And she began to brew strange witch potions. I was really worried about her.

Finally, one day I returned to find our beautiful mountain lake had changed into a dark swamp! And my wife… She had turned into an evil witch!

There was nothing I could do for her! It is my biggest regret… She is still there completely lost in her potions and witchcraft.

So… You also want to speak to her?

Objectives: Speak with Klaus.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Yes, I would like to speak with her.

mayor_klaus

I don’t think she will listen to a word you say, my friend. My dear wife is gone and that witch is all that remains. It breaks my hear just to think about it. For my part I would still appreciate it if you would try and speak wit her.

You have helped me and the village a great deal already. Of course if there is anything I can do to help you, I absolutely need to do it.

Quest completed

______________

Past the Northern Gate

mayor_klaus

Here is the Key to the City. With this key you can also unlock the Northern Gate. Good luck now. If you manage to speak with my witch wife… Please tell her I still love her and would like nothing more than to have her come home again.

Objectives: Unlock the North Gate and speak with Alex.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride up to the Northern Gate and unlock it with the key. Then speak to Alex.

Quest completed

______________

Are There Witches Here?

alex

Okay then. Ride in and see if you can find the witch. I agree with you that the witch and the Dark Rider probably have something awful in mind for Justin’s poor horse. She can definitely give us some information on where we might find Justin. Be careful! I’ll keep watching the gate for as long as I can. I’ll be here if you need help!

Objectives: Find the Mayor’s old house and his wife the witch.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride north down into the swamp and ride on the boardwalk to the back of the swamp to get to the witch’s house. Be careful to not fall into the swamp water.

You were turned into a frog? Oh my… Luck it wasn’t for very long.

So the Mayor’s wife is also the witch Pi and is not really that willing to help. And she has Justin’s horse in a big cage… Hmm… We need to think of something to do. Linda is pretty clever and isn’t too far away. Ride over to Linda at the Equestrian Center and ask her what she thinks we should do. I’ll keep watching the gate so nobody can sneak in and move Justin’s horse without us knowing about it.

Objectives: Speak with Lind at the Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Meet up with Linda at the Winery stable and tell her what has happened.

linda

Heya Rita! I have a lot on the go right now but if you say it is really important I will absolutely help out. That’s what friends are for.

Winery Library

linda

Okay. I understand. You need a way to get that witch Pi to talk to you. Poor Klaus having his wife turned into a witch. Hopefully we can find a way to bring back Pi so she turns into the nice woman she once was.

Well, I don’t have a solution in mind. I think we’ll actually have to do some research on this one. It is time to visit the Library. The Winery has a fantastic Library. I’ve spent many hours with my nose buried in those exciting books. Come on. Let’s go!

Objectives: Follow Linda to the Winery Library. Go in through the east entrance to the main building.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Walk with Linda to the Winery building, then dismount your horse to go inside the building. Meet Linda inside.

linda

What do you think? Pretty amazing right? A really good library, full of the collected knowledge of hundreds of years. You can almost feel how much the books really want to push their knowledge into someone’s mind! So much to read… So little time…

Find the Right Thing in the Right Book

linda

The thing is we need to find the right book to find the answer to how to turn the witch back into her old, kind self… Or at least get her to talk to us and tell the truth. I’ll sit down here and start looking through the Witchopedia first. You can look through the library and maybe you can find some books about witches. If you find any, bring them here.

Objectives: Look around for all the books you can find on witches and bring them to Linda.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Walk around the library and pick up all of the books you can. Then speak with Linda when you have enough books.

linda

Nice find! Now we have a pile of exciting books about witches that we can work through.

Quest completed

The Little Light Reader

linda

This is going to take a while. You can help me dig through a few of these books for how to make a witch more cooperative. Here, sit down and look through these four books.

Objectives: Sit down and read the four books that Linda put out for you.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Go through the four books on the desk in front of Linda. Speak with her when you are done with the books.

linda

Thank you for the help. You did find some useful information… But I don’t think we have what we need for a solution yet.

Quest completed

Return to Linda tomorrow.

Mr Loop has finished repairing Mr Trout’s things.

Traps are Ready!

mr_loop

There you go! All the traps are fixed now. Take them back to Mr K Trout so he can start catching crayfish again. Haha.

Reputation: 15 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Return the repaired traps, so he can break them again.

mr_trout

Look at that! They look like new! Thank you Rita!

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 15 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Look, another thing for him to break…

mr_trout

Fantastic! The net looks great… Just like new! He wondered what I was catching to break my net all the time? Sawfish? Does he think I’m dumb as a cod, or what?

Quest completed

Cast Out the Net

mr_trout

Now we can use it again. Ride to the dock farthest west and put it out there.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Go to the end of the west-most southern dock, and place the net there. Return to Mr Trout when you are done.

mr_trout

Thank you for your help Rita! You really need a lot of energy and patience to be a big fisherman like me, Mr K Trout. At first I thought you were a little minnow, but I’m beginning to think you have what it takes to be a big shark like me. Maybe you would be interested in joining us in the world’s best fishing club? We’ll see if you have what it takes to be a member of the Jorvik Fishing Club.

Quest completed

______________

Do You Want to Be a Big Fisherman?

mr_trout

I have a suggestion, Rita. Do you want to be a big fisherman like me? If you say yes then I will teach you how to catch fish and then later you can earn extra Jorvik Shillings by helping me fish. If you think you have what it takes then we can see about making you a member in the Jorvik Fishing Club. All the best fishermen are members there.

Every day I’ll need fish that are in demand. Fishing is the most fun thing ever. Do you want to be a big fisherman?

Objectives: Speak with Mr K Trout.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Sure, why not?

mr_trout

Great Rita! I’ll teach you everything I know! You will need to prepare before you fish. First and foremost you definitely need a fishing rod. You can buy that from Mr Loop at the fishing store. If you like you can buy fishing clothes there too… But you don’t really need it to fish… It is just cool to have.

Why don’t you come back tomorrow when you have bought a fishing rod and I’ll let you test out fishing for a bit and we’ll see how it goes.

Quest completed

You can buy the fishing rod now, or wait until tomorrow, but you will need to buy one from Mr Loop to continue the quests.

Return to Mr Trout tomorrow.

Conrad is ready to continue the forging of your new horseshoes.

Another Day of Forging

conrad_marsdeen

Welcome back Rita! You remember how we worked yesterday? Today we are going to do the same tasks again… But in a different order. Listen and follow my instructions carefully. I’ll tell you what to do next. Here, have my hammer and tongs, get ready to use them.

Objectives: Use the tongs and the hammer to carry out the tasks Conrad gives you. Be careful and listen closely!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

It’s the same procedure as before. You know the drill.

conrad_marsdeen

This looks promising! Now the metal needs to rest for the night again and then we can continue. But there is something we need you to fix now. The wood you collected is almost gone.

Quest completed

______________

We Need More Wood!

conrad_marsdeen

conrad_marsdeen

Fantastic Rita! Let’s just hope we don’t use up all the wood now. We might need it for other work in the future. But it is your horseshoes that are the most important right now.

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.
