For my magical mixture to gain its magic powers, it needs to be mixed up in a magic hat. Why? Without a magic hat, there’s not much magic, wouldn’t you think?

You’ve got a circus ticket, right Rita? If you haven’t got it with you, you can get it from your stable. Nobody gets in without a ticket!

In the Big Top, one of my hats is just sitting there waiting for you. Without the hat, I won’t be able to help you with the trailer, see? No hat, no trailer. No socks, no shoes! No hair, no haircut! Wait, what? I should be able to do this without a hat? Only our imaginations are the limit of what’s possible?

Don’t pout now, Rita! It’s amazing that so many flavor connoisseurs all over Jorvik have opened their eyes to the incredible flavor taste sensations of Ed Field’s Special Sauce!

You know what? I’m going to get started on a fresh batch right away! If you help out a little, it’ll go extra fast. What do you say? Amazing!

The secret of my special sauce is some certain special ingredients, you see… You’ve probably heard about how all the top chefs use a secret blend of herbs and spices, or a secret blend of vegetables in their salads, or a secret blend of flavors in their ice cream? You know already? Well I can certain see I’m not talking to some random amateur here! Haha! Anyway! In my special sauce I use a secret blend of many different sorts of… WOOD!

YES! WOOD! Wood from different trees! GENIUS!

The first type of wood I need is from the trees in Greendale. If you go grab me a whole bunch of sticks from those trees, I’ll fire up the stove and get everything ready. You don’t need to be too picky; regular old sticks off the ground are fine.

Let’s see here… Good that you have a horse. It is heavy work to stretch up the tent material so we need your horsepower. Should we get started?

That didn’t turn out quite right. I think we didn’t manage to stretch out the ropes correctly… Or maybe the tent is upside down… What do you think?

You think we should tighten the outer ropes? You are welcome to try as we definitely can’t have it looking like this. It is better if the Fool and I stay out of the way if you have a plan.

Try and hang up a few of these in the ropes around the tent. I don’t think we should let the Fool anywhere near the ropes again… Flags are fantastic things to have and they look great on a carnival.

First Lesson: Track

The first lesson is to see if you have the ability to track me down by following the magical aura traces I leave behind as I go in various realities. I’m going to the place where we will hold most of our lessons in the future.

To find your way to me you will need to follow the magical green aura traces I leave behind. Don’t follow the purple wild goose trail I’m also putting out.

It’s a little like hide and seek. Count to one hundred and we’ll get started…

Second Lesson: Do Not Stand in the Fire!

It is never good to stand in a fire, as that would definitely hurt. Avoid the fire without leaving the training arena. When the exercise time is up, you have completed the task. Good luck!

Objectives: Avoid the fire in the training ring until the exercise time is finished.

It is better to ride at a slower pace, preferably canter. Keep moving so that you do not get burned by the fire. Red circles will show on the ground and if you are standing on one, you will have just a few seconds to move before the fire starts in the circle. If you find yourself without room to move between circles, you can jump over them. If you step in the fire, you will have to begin the exercise again. Avoid the fire while staying inside the training ring, until the time runs out, then speak with Elizabeth.

Third Lesson: Catch the Ball

Precision and control are very important to druids and to Soul Riders. You are going to work at catching things. You need to catch ten balls before the exercise time is up. Good luck! You can do the exercise on your horse or on foot.

Objectives: Catch 10 balls before the time is up.

I prefer to do this one on foot. Green circles will appear on the ground. You will have a few seconds to make it to the circle before the ball reaches it. If the ball hits the ground before you get to the circle, you have lost it. The balls fall slowly and can eat up precious time, so plan your route to catch the balls quickly. If you do not catch ten of them before the exercise time is up, you will have to start again. When you have caught ten balls, speak to Elizabeth.

Fourth Lesson: Mental Training

Sometimes it isn’t all about being fastest or strongest. For druids and Soul Riders it is just as important to be mentally strong. That is why we have this exercise to make you stronger mentally and to make you cunning.

I’m going to ask you a dozen questions. You need to get ten of them right to pass the exercise. This is where a lot of trainees fail, just so you know. You are not allowed to cheat and use the internet, you know. Are you ready to start?

Objectives: Answer Elizabeth’s questions. You need to get ten of the twelve questions right to complete the exercise.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 70 with The Sun Circle

The questions are very simple, so do not be afraid. Many of the are common sense questions or simple questions about the game world. They are either true or false, or have only two options to choose from. If you do not answer at least ten of the questions correctly, you will have to start again. Fifth Lesson: Good Running is Better Than Bad Fighting

It isn’t always the best course of action to confront and fight an enemy. Sometimes it is much wiser to simply retreat. You are now going to be hunted by a Dark Seeker inside the training ring. Keep inside the ring and stay out of its reach until time is up. Don’t be afraid, the Dark Seeker is only an illusion for practice.

Objectives: Avoid the Dark Seeker but stay in the training ring. Keep free until the time runs out.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 70 with The Sun Circle

Stay outside of the boundary around the Dark Seekers. Be sure to keep well away from them, as you cannot jump over them as you did with the fire. They can reverse direction fairly quickly, so do not follow them too closely. Do not get in between them, either, as you can become trapped there when they overlap paths. When you have survived the lesson time, speak with Elizabeth.

Ah… Well… Let me explain. Thee has been a bit of a mix-up here. You remember the poles that you used to fix Marley’s jumping course? Those were really Ydris’s tent poles that I sawed in half and painted to look like jump poles. Yes… I know that was probably a dumb thing to do… But I thought that Ydris had completely forgotten about them and wasn’t going to use them.

How can we fix this here? Hmm… Those were pretty big poles he had. Huge poles, really. I have a few masts for sailboats that are stacked right beside the stables. Take them to Ydris. They are almost as long as his tent poles were.

The Fool Fixes Fast

There we go. We have a few things fixed up now. But we are going to need more tent poles We are missing the medium size poles and the pegs to anchor the ropes to the ground. My fool here says if you can get him five trees, he can prune them and get them ready to be used. 

While you were off fixing those other things for us, I borrowed an axe from Conrad. Here, take the axe and cut down five trees and deliver them to the fool. I’ve seen five dying trees in the gorge behind the wagon that nobody is going to miss if we cut them down. They should be exactly what we need. 

Objectives: Use the axe to cut down five dying trees from the gorge below Ydris’s wagon. Deliver the five cut trees to the fool.

All of the trees are located in the gorge south of the meadow. You do not need to dismount your horse to use the axe. Once a tree is cut down, it will be stacked on your horse. When you have cut down all five of the trees, return to the fool.

So Linda told you I saw a circus? That’s right. Have you seen the wizard carriage up on Nilmer’s Highlands, west of the abandoned farm? It actually seems like they are setting up a full circus up there. I don’t know what they’re doing, but I’ve seen some people who were doing something.

But now to more important things. You knew nothing about the jester, right…? He ran away. Can you help me find him? He can easily get lost, the stupid little jester. I heard his bells ring down the road here to the south. Perhaps he’s there, wandering about?

Find Five-Leaf Clovers

Well, Rita. The jester was looking for five-leaf clovers for me when he got lost. He can’t even deal with a simple task like that… I’m convinced you’re much better than he is. I myself cannot see them. Some problems with my eyes. There are lost of things I can see that no one else sees, but five-leaf clovers elude me.

To some, five-leaf clovers are easy to find if you just put your mind to it. I think you’re one of those people. Just close your eyes and count to five, and when you open your eyes again, you’ll easily find five-leaf clovers everywhere around here.

A Gift to a Mysterious Lady

Well, that small matter is done, then. But actually it’s not I who need these. Oh yes, I put one of them in my hat. Isn’t it nice!

Anyway, it’s a lovely lady who should have these. She waits at the gate in Cliffside Country, north of the riding hall… You and your fast horse may have time to deliver them to her?

Take the riding path behind the vineyard, ride to the south part of the Overlook Chasm, then down to the riding hall and follow the road north to get to the gate where the lady is waiting for you.

Objectives: Deliver the four five-leaf clovers to Pi, who is standing at the irongate, north of Silverglade riding hall in Cliffside Country below the Overlook Chasm.

Rewards: 21 Jorvik Shillings, 90 XP

Reputation: 0

Ride past the riding hall to get to the gate. It is directly behind where you helped the hedgehogs earlier. Pi is standing at the gate.

So there was a circus there? Or carnival, as Ydris called it. They were a bit strange? And you had to help him find five-leaf clovers for a witch… It doesn’t sound so good. Five-leaf clovers are extremely rare and can only be found by very special people, and when they are given away, they gain additional magical properties.

There’s nothing to do about that now. Strange characters we have around here nowadays. It’s quite unusual for witches and mystical wizards to show themselves publicly.
